  • The city of Florence, or Firenze in Italian, is the capital of the famous Italian region of Tuscany.
For three centuries, the Medici ruled over Florence, then over much of Tuscany. The Medici were a family of bankers, who brought Florence to its peak. During the days of the banking family, Florence Tuscany became the intellectual and cultural heart of Europe, where artistic flourishing took place. This apogee, which is called the Renaissance, was marked by well-known names such as Dante, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Donatello and Petrarch.
Сapital of the Kingdom of Italy between 1865 and 1871, the city presents an exceptional artistic richness. It is universally recognized as one of the cradles of art and architecture, as well as among the most beautiful cities in the world, thanks to its many monuments and museums including the Duomo, Santa Croce, Santa Maria Novella, the Galleria of the Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti.
