Respect to chicosci, meron talgang tao na sobrang dedicatred mang hate ng banda pero matignan mo playlist nila nako.. they survived the hate and tinituring ko silang isa sa mga may ambag sa OPM scene.

ang saya balikan ng late 90s to 2000s. ung ang bagong music na aabangan mo eh kung anong bagong release na casette tape sa music store tapos maghihiraman kayo ng kaklase mo na hindi marunong magsoli. chicosci, houndz, queso, slapshock ang isa sa reason bakit ako natuto tumugtog kasama ng mga classmates ko nung high school. I admit nag stop ako makinig ng chicosci after method of breathing pero masaya ako na tinuloy nila ang pag evolve ng music nila. nagkataon lang na nakilala ko ung ibang bands na ka genre nila like taking back sunday, the used at iba pa..thanks to this post babalikan ko ulit ang mga namiss kong albums nila.
The first song I've heard from them was A Promise and I've been a fan since then. I even bought a few albums. I didnt mind their musical changes, i liked them all the same.
I was so confused noong nalaman ko mula sa tropa na ung dati nilang mahal na CHICOSCIENCE eh hate na nila as CHICOSCI. tapos noong way back in college, nakakanood nako ng mga gigs nila. Most notably noong nag-bday celebrate ako sa isang big event featuring Chicosci & other bands. at that time, na-buking ko na may something between my gf (ex now) & my college buddy, buti nakita ako noong isa sa mga tropa kong Band crew ng isang sikat na banda. naisama ako sa backstage kasama ng maraming banda at chicosci. napa-inom kami dahil maraming stocks sa backstage tapos birthday din ni Calde at para akong kuya na nagsusumbong sa kanila. pinainom nila ako. so imbes na mag-mukmok eh nalasing kami sa sobrang saya. These are bunch of wacky guys specially si Miggy (lalo na pag lasing). haha! Good times!

Congratulations sa napaka informative at solid na video! I agree, nag evolve lang talaga sila. Gumaan pero mas technical IMO. Yung sa boses ni Miggy, hit or miss talaga siya sa live. Pero they wouldn't be Chicosci w/o him, mad respect! More content pa sana na gaya nito!

Personally, I loved their album Icarus (Method of Breathing may be second fave) and I think it’s their best craft. Amazed ako paano na labas and produce nila Raymond and Buddy sa kanila and sound nila sa Icarus so nabilib ako. That album sounds post-hardcore-ish or mathcore-ish and it’s a very unique, heavy and original kasi wala ka talaga maririnig na ganun style at all especially sa opm metal/hardcore scene. I just hope they maintained that sound kasi it just set them completely apart and evolved from the mainstream genre that time which is nu-metal, their first genre (never liked their first one). Yung time na hindi ko na sila na tripan nun is nung binago nila sound nila sa Vampire social club, naging mainstream emo rock band sila which is hindi ko masyado trip. Anyways, nakita naman potential nila and I think ung mga bagong singles nila are better naman from the “vampire” era and I hope unti-unti bumalik ung creative exploration nila nung sa Icarus/MoB era. Despite their changing styles, this band is still a one in a million band in the OPM alternative scene.

Sobrang nostalgic neto ah. Naalala ko non wayback 2005 usong uso talaga mga Emo/Alternative rock. Para sakin yun yung glory days especially ng Alternative rock. Dati pag sinabe mong idol mo Chicosci sasabihan kang bakla hahahahaha. Pero respect sa Chicosci, laki ng naiambag nila sa OPM, not the biggest fan pero masaya ako kung ano narating nila ngayon.

maganda naman songs nila one of my favorite band since 2010 emo days era first time ko sila nakita in gensan panahong kinuha ako mg vocal sa band ng mga old classmate ko at barkada
I'm not a die hard fan nor hater, pero may mga favorite tracks ako sa 1st and 2nd album, after nun wala na, dun na din ako nag stop makinig sa Chico nuon. Though fan ako ni Victor Gusion, pero for Chico ndi talaga.
For me, 2 major factor tlga kung bakit marami silang hater ay dahil sa change of style/genre at yung boses ni Miggy, dahil madalas off note.

I've been following this band since the late 90's pinapanood pa namin sila ng mga college friends ko sa Mayrics during their 'Giant Robot' era. Yung 'Method' album for someone like me at that time na nakikinig rin ng Glassjaw, Boy Sets Fire and other Victory Records hardcore bands, ay obviously dun nila kinuha ang tunog ng 'Method' album. Kung di ka talaga familiar sa mga binaggit kong banda iisipin mo talaga na napaka original ng sound nila sa album na yun. Sadly, marami ring tulad ko na nakikinig ng mga bandang di sikat sa pinas pero sikat abroad kaya di makakalusot yung panggagaya ng tunog ng Chicosci. Thanks to Nizzle Dazzle, sa Recto, yun ang music source namin noong late 90's to early 00's kaya updated kami kung anong usong music sa US lol.
Yung 'Icarus' naman isa pang obvious na pinagkopyahan nila ng tunog ay yung bandang AFI, mapapansin mo yun kung nakikinig ka na ng AFI during the time na lumabas yung 'Icarus'.

When the self titled came and yes I agree they have changed and influenced GM and fanbase during this era. I've met so many friends dun. Hmmm… tingin ko may point naman yung mga haters/old fans. tingin ko ang naging issue ay yung indentity nila as a band. If you want change, the change should be within and not influenced by outside musical factors. Ang the best example dyan ay silverchair, they changed but created something original. Ginawa kase ng chicosi, from one genre of mainstream music to another genre.

SUPER YES! Silverchair. Very, very good example. They aged like fine wine from Frogstomp to Freakshow to Neon Ballroom to Diorama and so on... Not a die-hard fan of Silverchair though Diorama is one the best albums of the early 2000s. You nailed this!

Lage ko pa naman inaabangan Paris song nila dati sa NU 107 tapos nilalakasan ko pa volume ng Radio hahaha...
Nag start talaga yung mga nabwiset yung iba sa Chico nung nilabas nila yung self titled album. Compared to first 3 albums, biglang naging melodic at sumabay talaga sa mainstream during that time but you can't blame an artist kung gusto nilang lumihis at gumawa ng bago. Yung last album nga nila na This Is Not A Chicosci Record was also a solid one. Tracks like Crocodile Scars, Secret Weapon, Alexandra etc. Will always be a fan of this band.

Tinamaan ako hahaha may love hate love relationship ako sa Chicosci. Fell inlove with the Chicosci album. Kabisado ko pa lahat ng lyrics ng mga songs nun. Hated and unfollow them for years sa socmed but fell inlove again dun sa fly black hearts album. Sa mga nagsasabing panget at makalat sila sa live. 2 beses ko na silang napapanood. Rakrakan 2017 nung may nagbato ng tsinelas sa stage at itong January dito sa province namin at sobrang ayos ng performance nila.

Never loved or hated ChicoSci, isang beses ko lang sila pinakinggan and that was when they featured Jamir of Slapshock, only time I game them a listen.
I've been a fan of "Sink or Swim" since then I recognized their change of style in music hence as a fan and as a listener I've been also evolving in taste of music from Blink, Green Day, Korn, Incubus, Linkin Park to Paramore and emo screamo to Angels and Airwaves and so on as long as I like to hear. Chicosci is also something like that it's like you get out of your comfort zone. Maybe the only thing that we hate is the thing that they imitate some artist "(I think)" or we are not ready when they become mainstream.

I agree dun sa gatekeeping and pagiging insecure ng ibang male audience. May ganyang scenario ako noong kasagsagan ng iv of spade. Fave ko sila before pa super sumikat sila and nung mas sumikat pa sila dun na ako naiinis or naannoyed sa mga new fans nila specially girl fans. Lalo na nung napanood ko sila ng live sa rakrakan festival 2018, naiirita ako sa mga female fans na tili ng tili kahit soundcheck pala. Now naman gets ko pangit yung ganun mindset na di ko na support yung iv of spade dahilan sumikat na sila.
Now naman new fan na ako ng Chicosci and happy rin me na ishare yugn songs nila sa mga friends ko :>. No to gate keeping na tayo

the vampire era was when i discovered chicosci tho di ko msyadong nagustuhan ung sumunod na album ng chicosci after cvsc and it made me discover their old albums. ang pinaka patok sakin e ung paris at a promise hahah. Brings back memories nong nkita ko ung recording nila sa TOD and spotify added their self title album. ahh good times.

Im big a fan fan of chicoski tama ka ng freedom and changes sa genre talagang nanyayari sa mga musicians pero nung nag fall ang emo,pati looks nila iniba narin nag mamamamaan ulit sila balik bihis lalaki🤣.
No tight jeans eye liner lipstick and bieber hair, back to basketball jersey and cargo pants etc. Sabay sa uso unlike typacast they stick to genre.

I first heard them back in 2001 when nu metal was still on top, and I didn't really like them tbh, they were average. I'm not into emo and screamo bands, but when I first heard chicosci as they transitioned into their newfound rock genre, I must admit that I was in awe. It's like listening to a whole new different band, I can't believe that they were the same guys that I rejected back in '01. I repeat, I don't dig emo screamo sounds till this day, but hearing Chicosci in the late 2000s hits different. An entire generation of emo millennial teens followed that band. I wasn't and never was fishing for them at that time because I'm into heavier sound, but I was glad that they've finally found the genre that actually fits for them. So props to those guys and give them the hard earned respect that they deserve.
