Mark Grace. My childhood baseball hero.
Everything I wish I could have been in a ball player.
Thanks for giving me so many great childhood memories, Gracie.
Grace was fantastic, possibly the best Def IB of his time, the most hits in the entire decade of the 90's, a doubles machine, & I can say a big reason I became a Cubs fan as a kid, he belongs in the Cubs HOF
Amen! I’d forgotten about the ‘most hits in the 90s!’ Great Post! I was one of the early bleacher bums! Go Cubs!
America’s Team!⚾️😊👍
Ironically, when he started there were lots of detractors saying he couldn't replace Leon Durham. They didn't last too long.
Cubs have had some good players at 1B..even Billy Buckner before Durham but D.Lee was really good, he had some monster yrs & great a Defender
My Absolute favorite Chicago Cub and favorite baseball player. I idolized him and growing up in Chicago I got to watch him play many games on TV and in person. I'm also another fan who thinks he belongs in the HOF too.
he was a great player
Mark Grace is my favorite cub of all time. He had the sweetest swing.
Grace and Sandberg.What a pair!! ❤❤
Grace was my favorite Cub and it’s because he was so reliable on offense and defense and had a humbleness to him. I’m glad he won a title wish it was with cubs. He should be in the hall of fame.
I remember when I was 11-12hrs old and we went to St. Louis to see the cubs play. We checked into the Marriott hotel. We then headed to the elevator, pressed the floor button, and as the doors were closing here comes Mark Grace! My sister and I were star struck!!! Drove all that way and we were to chickenshit to ask for a autograph!! Again, we were all decked out in Cubs apparel and standing there…. I could only imagine what he was thinking? Are they going to ask for a autograph? This is weird quite… hurry up elevator! LoL! When he got off the elevator my parents died out laughing! Why didn’t you ask him? You guys were to scared to even look at him!
Your parents should've told him you were too star struck to ask for an autograph, would he mind? I would've done that if you'd been my kids. 😊 Hindsight!
Haha. I got his autograph at a baseball card show and I was too nervous to say anything to him
Should be in the HOF. Most hits in the 90's. Think about that. More hits than Tony Gwyn
Actually he has 100 less but still impressive
Grace had about 40 more hits and about 650 more at bats in that time frame. Gwynn hit 344 during the decade while grace hit 310. Grace was a very good player but not deserving of the HOF.
You are thinking doubles. Grace is the only person to lead MLB in a decade in doubles without making the HOF
Grace also had the most sacrifice flies in the 90’s but no, as much as we all loved him certainly not a HOFer
@jrayyz7488 Nope! You're wrong! Grace had the most hits in the 1990's.
Love Mark grace, best 1st baseman we ever had, GO CUBS!
don't forget, BILL BUCKNER.
Mine too he never missed a ball
We love you Grace and all our other '80's favorites! Great memories!
He's my 1B on the All-Time Cubs Team, HANDS DOWN.
One of our Mr Cubs! GO CUBS!⚾️
Grace would’ve been a hall of famer, if he kept playing. He was sooooo close to 3,000 hits.
At least he’s got a World Series ring.
I was born in 87 and I lived near Detroit . They showed cubs games on WGN here. His swing was a thing of beauty and I quickly became a fan of the cubs (tigers were my #1). I was a right handed hitter but his sweet lefty swing made me try and switch hit. Never did it in a game but thanks to mark grace I can sorta bat lefty now lol😅
loved that he came wearing jeans to get his jacket! regular ol ordinary dude, extraordinary baseball player!
One of my favorites from the 80 IMO the best first basemen ever for the cubs and in baseball
Love ❤ these moments. Hall of Famer indeed! 😊😊😊❤❤
One of my 90's heroes in baseball and the BEST Cub player to wear the #17 hands down!!! Not that OTHER #17
Remarkable career ❤❤❤
All-time favorite player, hands down. Always pushing and always consistent. Great fielder. Lead the majors in hits (and doubles - two more than Biggio in fewer at bats!) in the 90s. I'd like to think he's deserving of the MLB HOF, too, but I'm probably biased. 😂
The Amazing Grace
Great hitter! Glad to see him play
Bill Buckner#22. Ryne Sandberg#23. and Mark Grace#17 my favorite Cubs of ALL time.
Such a Great hitter..i think hes Underated..Amazing..More hits and doubles than anyone in the 90s..unfortunatley the 90s werent so great for the Cubs..so....
Wow! This was great to watch! Congratulations to Mark Grace! What a great hitter! The Cubbies picked him over another young first baseman, Raffy Palmeiro. Great highlights of an All Time Great Cubby! I wore number 17 in little league and played first base because of him!!! #17⚾️🐻👍🏻🇺🇸
The best contact hitter in cubs history!!!!
2nd to Buckner.
In my top 3 favorite Cubbies of all time. Massive crush on him and Ryno back in the day! ❤️🐻💙
As a kid, we had two brother cats and named them Ryno and Wild Thing lol.
My daughter's middle name is Grace. :)
@@hoosierflatty6435Love it❣️ I really encouraged the name Grace for my granddaughter and that’s a middle name for one of them❣️ I love saying her full name. 🥰😍
@@yankeeladee02 Ya we decided on Grace just because of the meaning and it sounds pretty. The connotation to Mark was a bonus. :)
@@hoosierflatty6435 Right on 🙌🏼🤙🏼I agree 🫶🏼
인생은 타이밍😊
Not too many non Cubs fans know that while Will Clark had that awesome series against the Cubs in that playoff series Grace was right there dueling with him the whole time Clark's team won so they all just remember Clark.
Grace was picked by the Cub in the ‘85 Draft. And had the most hits in the ‘90’s. The player that had the second most hits in the ‘90’s was also picked by the Cub in the ‘85 Draft. I can’t recall his name, but he must’ve been pretty good too.
Was sitting close to first base at a Grace Game back in his day. Thought I respected him as a ball player but I was sitting by Janine Turner. Way to go Mark!
He and Rizzo were ridiculous defensively
As a True Blue...I missed Mr. Grace....he was awesome with the CUBS!
If I remember correctly, the Cubs traded (?) Palmeiro and brought up Grace from Double A, I think. I thought at the time it was a horseshit move. Mark Grace was solid as a rock. Great player.
Gracie! ❤️
Love Gracie here
Hall of famer. No doubt
Gracie deserves it!! Even if he is a self described Packer fan.
Grew up watching Gracie. I bet Ive seen like 75% of every AB hes ever took as a Cub lol. Lets just say he had an 'unique' personality, and he played hard as nails all the time. Was the best guy at going oppo I might have ever seen besides like fucking Jeter or someone.
He was my favorite player growing up. LOTS of players in the HoF with worse numbers in every category.

❤
Buen video
Awesome video montage but the overly loud music was inappropriate and irritating
Do most of the teams have their own HOF or is that a Cubs thing?
Well deserved. Pretty good hitter and fielder! ❤️💙
Why so many visiting broadcaster calls on this clip? A little strange.
Should have stayed a Cub for his entire career. But unfortunately ownership was not thinking.
Mitchell and ness needs to sell his jersey
HOME RUN😅
😮
His allegiance is completely with the dbacks though. He would LOVE it if the cubs get swept by them tomorrow. Not a favorite cub of mine and anyone else that’s cool
Sundberg
Gg
First 🤓 ☝🏻
He was good, but not H.O.F. good.
if kb comes back don’t retire 17
It should’ve been retired after Grace left. He had bad blood with the front office and old ownership at the time so that didn’t happen. They should just retire it for both of them.
