One of your best interviews ever. Very inspiring. I will turn 75 tomorrow and was feeling a bit down but right after the video I was back to the 'real' me. I just marched over to my rig and was back at it. Back where I belong with a guitar around my neck.
@@AllanGildea thanx Allan. I peaked in here on a break. I was practicing some tough tunes and was pleased I was pulling them off so well. I practice on average 4 hours a day. I put in a bit of time with theory too. Use it or loose it, so I always go thru every tune and see where it applies. I often change bits here and there to get anything harmonically better or more interesting etc....Happy New Year :-)
Nice one mate , im 48 and do suffer with manic depression , but I force myself to play when the dark days come and it shines a light on me , so I hope im like you when im your age , happy birthday Paul and many more
I'm a through and through extreme rocker so I must confess to not having heard of mr Richard Bona but oh my word I was just CAPTIVATED by the performance. This guy is my new hero, I'm just looking up everything and anything he's done today and having my mind blown.
Wow!- I never thought I’d see Richard Bona on the channel. An incredible all round musician and one of the greatest modern jazz bassists. This guy is on another level of musicianship. This is an inspiring interview, thank you.
I do love Bona, it was unconditional love at first listening... well, the Captain has interviewed several very great musicians, it's impossible to make a ranking but, folks, this man is totally off the charts, he's a force of nature, extraordinaire... his story is so amazing, so educational, so inspiring, he doesn't play music, it seems like it's rather music playing him. Through him. Well done Lee! 👍🏼👍👍
I worked the Harry Belafonte PBS Special at Purchase College and when Richard Bona played "Eyala" Everyone was Captivated! We all knew there was something very Special about this Young Man! He held nothing back and Touched Our Souls! We were not your average listeners, we were Union Stagehands from the New York area who work Hundreds of different shows every year!
first time I saw Richard Bona was with the PMG in the mid nineties...The solo he took during bright size life made me a fan for life...loved his stuff ever since
Bona is a genius. He alone has revolutionized lead or melodic bass. Tons of fun to watch him perform. All the best to him. And top notch music interview. Kudos to the Cap!
Wow that song at the start had me in tears , this guy is something else , we always find someone thats good and then someone comes along whose Biblical thats this guy , Hauntingly Beautiful X
I remember seeing a performance of Richard Bona and Bobby McFerrin on YT a decade ago, and it will always be with me. What gorgeous music he makes. Great guest!
Man, this guy's energy is great to watch this early in the morning. Then there's Richard Bona 😏😉 Really though, this was really enjoyable and Richard is great!
Such gentleman, beautiful soul, true artist. i was lucky to see him live in a festival Morocco, met him in the streets of Essouira and shake his hand shared few jokes...Thank you Andertons for this inspiring episode.
This man is a fantastic musician, always refines his artistry and loves to share his experience. Very nice and soothing interview ! Thank you Lee and the Andertons Crew !
My first exposure to Richard Bona was watching this Bobby McFerrin concert where Richard joins him for an intimate jam. The two of them are such a natural fit, musically. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/aE8b4VyY6ck/v-deo.html
I was hoping to go to a Bona concert with the Metropole Orchestra in an hour after a one year delay. Postponed because of corona again. Really hope to see him before he's dead.
As a Mike Stern fan I am digging this but chuckle with the thought of your more metal subscriber’s comments. Richard and Dennis Chambers? Now there’s a rythmn section!
28.10 This is what Jaco Pastorius did and talked about Play with different Styles of music and bands , keep your mind open to all Styles of music , anyone whose into Music or a Musician Pro or Beginner needs to Watch Jaco Pastorius DVD , Metallica's Bass Player Robert Trujillo help with the DVD , I Play Electric Guitar and got lots of inspiration from it.
Cap you've gone up in the world! RB is World and Jazz royalty! But he is definitely not sales cameo material. He is a story-teller! The guy can't talk about his own bass or his Combo. I can see you racing in your head, trying to stir the conversation to the gear!

I saw Richard 20 years ago in Vienna with Mike Stern. All the local bass players got drunk and had a great time 👍🙂
