I studied in Roorkee, then it was University of Roorkee, from 1975 to 79. I stayed in Ganga bhawan for first two years and next two years, I was in Ravindra bhawan . The food was quite delicious and it was served on the table by butler and waiters . Music used to be played during lunch and dinner.
i went to Roorkee decades ago - the facilities were not as they are now, but the food was THE BEST.
I was in IIT Roorkee from 2011 to 2014. At that time Non - Veg was not allowed at any of the hostel. But the quality of Food is always Good in IIT R.
Thank god, now the messes there are more inclusive and diverse as compared to the intolerant past.

Roorkee had the best food though vegetarian fare only 25 years back. Breakfast was best with university bakery pastry and samosa
i studied from state university my food was bit same but no one can compare future which comes from iit

As Jain students dont eat Onion and garlic, so for these std. Jain food is available on daily basis.
And on Navratri,hasivratri etc They seperately prepare food for those who are fasting.
Don't they provide Non-veg in lunch? If so, how many days?

Mess charges are included in semester fee. And detaled info is available on iitr website.
BTW 137000 for B.Tech /sem
And 38000 for M.sc /sem
In both mess charges r included
