    1) Defense did very well against the run, pressuring the QB - however the secondary needs to clean up tackles in open space.
    2) Offense did very well blocking in the run game. Some pressure on Maalik though, which consequently caused him to make some poor choices with the ball. The one INT, and the fumble lost (should have taken the sack instead).
    3) Play calling was interesting at times. Two 4th and goals and going for it. I wonder if Steve is testing things, and BYU was the team to test on. Defense had the game in the bag. I think this shows that sometimes you just need to take the points and not always go for it on 4th down, unless absolutely necessary.
    4) Overall the biggest takeaway for me was how good the the front seven on defense is, and how good our run blocking, and run game period is. Brooks is a great running back, not very shifty, but he hits that hole and has great patience and awareness. Xavier Worthy is a nasty dude, his speed is just phenomenal - He reminds me a bit of Tyreek Hill.

    I get the feeling that BYU's offense must only be practicing short, redzone length drives during their practices. Ive seen their indoor practice facility and its basically divided into shorter sections for different groups to play on. It makes me wonder if the coaches are inadvertently training their offensive players how to only complete short drives, not big ones.

    Murphy just doesnt look like hes the guy, his pocket awareness is worse than i thought, his reads are sometimes questionable, and quite honestly i would of let arch start the game. Several times they couldn't get points in the red zone, you ain't gonna win the important games with 2 possessions in the red zone resulting in 0 points. Good win for Texas, their defense looked nice after getting battered by houston

    Was it a bad decision for Maalik to make that throw, of course. But you can clearly see he wasn't prepared for the play to start when it did (making hand gestures and looking towards the receivers) as the ball is being hiked to him and barely able to even react to handle it. Think the center prematurely hiked the ball which already sent Maalik into panic then add the blitz immediately after, I'm not surprised there was a mistake made on the play.

    • @Chrischillzz
      @Chrischillzz Рік тому

      @@cypresstrout3412 experience does help for sure, just pointing out that the play was pretty doomed from the start because the premature snap by the center. Listened to coach Sarks post game and he even said it was unfortunate for him because the Reciever never even picked up a route yet, which I’m assuming is what Malik was signaling at the time the ball snapped. It happens, did excellent on reacting to it, just needs to learn from the mistake of throwing in that situation and live for another down haha
