- The Lady In the Garden is a this step by step acrylic painting tutorial, where we explore impressionist painting styles with colorful garden and an enchanting lady who stops to smell the flowers. A link to my website will let you print out a photo of this 8x10 painting for tracing on the figure of the lady for ease of painting this composition.
gingercooklive... quick and easy transfer method is demonstrated if sketching her freehand is not preferred. A great painting for beginning artist to get their feet wet with an impressionist style of brush strokes.
Lady in the Garden", is a painting of hope and love and peace and a celebration of women by impressionist artist (Frederick Frieseke in 1912) from the turn of the century that still resonates with us today. Follow along with me as we repaint this step by step moment in time, with all the colors of a luscious garden, where hope springs eternal.
October is "Breast Cancer Awareness Month" and #thinkpinkart is the theme from the Creative Art Collaboration of over 350 UA-cam artists this month in conjunction with this.

What I like about this painting is that the artist has made the lady look like she has actually grown up in the garden like the flowers have grown. The stripes in her dress blend so well with the flowers and stalks and grass that it makes her look like one of the flowers.
+aworkinprogress2 This artist was a wonderful painter, and Lady in the Garden is one of my favorites.

+Witzel Asper Thank you Witzel. I appreciate you positive comment. Ginger
Boy pulled at my heart strings. You know Ginger what a fine example of that saying "it's all about what you leave behind"...I have this feeling you and Cinnamon are leaving plenty behind. Thank you for the beautiful class and such a friendly reminder.
thank so much, art hugs from Texas
The number of techniques in this painting... ❤ WOW ❣️
Thank you so much 😀 A lot of these older videos I did are packed full of tips and things to learn.
Hi Ginger, I was scrolling through your tutorials and stumbled across this lovely painting. It made me cry because on Friday is the one year anniversary of my precious mothers death. She had breast CA and it was special to me that I found this. Thank you for the wonderful tutorial. I may not be able to bring myself to try it quite yet, but I will. Thank you for this special gift.
sorry about your mom. art hugs from Texas.
I just adore this painting so much. The girl reminds me of myself & my discovery of my love for flowers not so long ago. It offers a reflection of peace & serenity, one in which you & Cinnamon can see for your friend Lori. I have lost a few friends to cancer just this year alone, not to mention past yrs. Thank you for your awareness & sharing of yourself for the cause. ♡
+Sue Clark Sue, you should consider painting this one large. 16x20 or bigger. I did my first one 30x40 and loved it. Kinda sorry I sold it,but that was years ago. I am glad you resonate with this painting. GINGER
I probably will! I'm 80% done on 8x10 & love it to pieces. Thanks!
I cant recall the last time i was sobbing while painting- What a touching story, warms my heart- and this was one of my favorite paintings i have done along with you- This painting was the reason I started to try acrylics- I finally came back to it today and painted it. I am so glad I did
Thanks so much for the positive feedback and sharing why you decided to paint.

Ginger just loved this tutorial. The colors are magnificent. My kind of painting. These are the colors I love to see in a painting. Going to try this. Thank you for sharing.
+Dora Origel I am glad you found this helpful. I am known as a "colorest" artist, as were most of the impressionists who took their color palette from nature. So I like to showcase artwork, either my own or one of the masters who paint in this color palette. thanks for taking the time to commnet. Ginger
Thanks Ginger your such an amazing artist i can watch you paint all day

+RITA BURNS thank you, I enjoyed sharing this artwork as I think this artist had such a nice interpretation of the ladies of his era. Very romantic.

Love this painting. I just started watching you about 6 months ago and I am scrambling to watch as much as possible before you take them down..
I am only taking the ones down with fewer than 5K views or the ones that have bad camera work. This one is staying up.
Ginger,
Beautiful painting! I was so touched by the story of Cinnamon's friend , Lori, and the "happy mail" box you guys made. Thank you so much for sharing. Love you.

+acoumeu64 Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate the nice comment. Ginger
Yes, I would like more of these paintings. I have just traced the lady using a projector on a 16 X 20 canvas. This is a huge painting for me and you make this mentally manageable to try it. I will dedicate this painting to my sister who has passed away from breast cancer. My eldest Granddaughter wants to paint Theartsherpa owls. Our youngest granddaughter wants to paint an angel inspired by Patti Tolley Parrish.
+Tationia Lykens This is a beautiful painting and thank you Ginger Cook for sharing your tutorial lessons with us. My painting has turned out so well and I love it. My sister's wish is on this painting as well. Thank you.
Wonderful, love the painting and the sentiments. The artist was a member of the Giverny group of Impressionist painters........I think this garden could be Monet's, reminds me of the shutter colour n the main house. Thank you for sharing your work. You are inspirational.
+LibellulaGlass I appreiate the extra infomation. It was nice of you to share that. Thank you.
Many thanks to you what a talent you have I tried to do it I had so much fun thanks to you🙋🏼
+Francoise Blais Fun is what it is always supposed to be about. Everyone, no matter how long they paint, gets better with every painting. So if you do not stress too much about the outcome, and enjoy the new stuff you learned while painting it, it will always stay fun. And sometimes you just learn what not to do...
I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. May each day be a celebration of naturally nurtured health, passionate creativity and the awareness and compassion that connects them.
Thank you
Its to long ago to download the picture, but for sure I am goining to give it a try. Thank yoy Ginger

Very beautiful, just like I am sure your friend was. May she be at peace now, in with the angels!! So sorry for your loss to you and your daughter. Had a precious loss in our family too, to breast cancer and she also is in with the angels. Early and frequent screening is all we can do to try to help ourselves and hope for a cure one day..
+Candy Trippiedi 'Thank you Candy. I appreciate your taking the time to write I do believe our friends and loved ones who have passed on from this are for sure with the angles. I will probably post an angel painting next month if not on UA-cam at least for my on line classes.. Did you know I actually found a painting by Vangogh of an angel?
***** Sounds very nice, I really enjoy your videos since I love to learn more about art everyday. My Dad was a very good painter and I start to try pretty young to emulate him I guess, but he passed on too early in his life to learn more so I learn from my online family of fellow artists which include Cinnamon too. I thank you for your efforts to teach these lesson.. I have so many of my Dad's pictures and now with mine is quite an over load LOL. That is why I do the smaller ones since he did the larger ones. Thanks again !!
Ginger I love your tutorials! I am going to try this today. It will be my 2nd one of yours. Also did Stary Night twice! Loved that! I am thinking of joining on your website as I noticed you give a reduction for seniors. I am a retired teacher and have enjoyed Cinnamon's tutorials, as well as others, but I love, love, love your style!
Thanks Suelyn, being a senior myself, I do like to take care of our group. Our senior monthly membership which includes 195 lessons plus 3 added a week, and personal art coaching is $19.95 a month. I just loved painting this picture. It challenged me to to chill out , calm down and practice patience. To see this piece slowly unfold into something so beautiful was so cathartic for me. It took me much longer to paint than it took you of course. Hope I didn't make you dizzy as I kept rewinding the video....LOL Thanks again Ginger and John. ♡
