Marley literally had multiple nations that wanted to see it fall. If the Marley government was destroyed, that would've solved a ton of problems cause Paradis could've easily formed alliances with the enemies of Marley. This would've been a way better path then Erens total annihilation plan.

Did you just read the title and not watch the video, he barely touches on the fact that it’s morally wrong and simply tries to prove why rumbling could’ve been avoided
It's not Eren's or any other eldians duty to protect Marley. It's the job of the marleyan army and they failed miserably. Marley knew about the threat of the rumbling and even knowing that they attacked the island twice. I think the most important question to ask here is that if by some miracle the outside world agreed to co-exist with Paradise island and accept them as people (and not devils), would Eren still would have done the rumbling? Theres no such thing as being morally right in a show that disregards morality in the first place. The rumbling is simply a consequence when you direct the worlds hatred onto one island.
@@blyki867 no, the video is mostly his own head canon, his own perception of eren's character. His reasons for being against the rumbling is simply because it's global genocide which is fine, but like the comment said there's no such thing as being morally right in this show because if the rumbling did not happen island genocide would have been the result which is also morally wrong too. @@sator2766 ?? Bruh no. He was admitting to having dark thoughts too, and took some of the blame for Eren's sins in an attempt to comfort his best friend before Eren died.
Rumbling was necessary from a writing perspective and was the only logical conclusion presented to the readers by the author. People can spin and twist it as they please to find a solution without the rumbling, but Isayama is the one who wrote that story, and his intention was clearly to remove all other possibilities but the full rumbling.
Well of course it's necessary from that perspective, but that's boring. Better to look at what's presented to see if there's another way. And there was. As the video creator says, they could have gone with the 50 year plan. That said, Eren was clear that he didn't want his friends to suffer for something they couldn't control, so that plan wasn't going to fly. Ah yes, I remember when a fucking baby pulled a gun on me. At the end of the day, the war that erupted after the attack on Liberio was something Eren and Zeke conspired to bring about. Sure the world hated Paradis, but before that moment only Marley was bold enough to attack them. Eren and Zeke are directly responsible for dragging the rest of the world into conflict with Paradis.
Lol bad analogy. 18:31 he explicitly covers why they were in fact not under threat of immediate annihilation. Were they threatened? Yes. But they had means of self defense, and frankly I agree with Invaderzz, invading Paradis with the threat of the rumbling simply isn’t worth it for any one nation. And if they allied to Hiruzen and started catching up technologically, they’d have reached parity soon enough. And if Eldia had a state, they would be able to advocate for themselves internationally, giving room to normalize relations over time. The fact that eldians would forever be discriminated against is supposed to be ignored? Let's not forget also, that marley attacked because of the fossil fuel reserves that are on paradis, eren's mother died in front of him because of OIL. What was he supposed to do? The eutanasia and hope no one would attack a bunch of 70-80 year old Eldians who would already be dying for the lack of young labour force? Or try to negotiate terms for the "surrender" of the rest of the world and pray they never find a way to make the power of the titans obsolete? Question. People of color are discriminated against in this world and disgusting acts of violence happen every day. So, since you seem so sure of yourself, are you telling me that one of these discriminated groups have the right to slaughter every other race simply because they suffer this ? Is this what you're suggesting ?

The 50 year plan was a non solution. Marley's infiltration and secret attack proved it. Paradis has little to none counter intelligence capabilities. The only reason Paradis survived for a long time was 1) Pieck didn't have the green light to kill Eren at the spot. 2) Galliard chomped eren's legs only. 3) Zeke was good at catch.
I do agree with you that assassination attempts are a major threat, but it's not quite that simple. The reason why Pieck was able to get to Eren in the first place was because the island was in a state of chaos. The Jaegerists were taking over and the Commander in chief had just been murdered. Eren was guarded by what were inexperienced rebels with no chain of command aside from Floch's leadership. Pieck, Galliard and Marley's attack was a direct response to Eren and Zeke's attack on Marley. It wouldn't have happened otherwise. The 50 year plan under ideal circumstances wouldn't be carried out in such a situation. The original plan was to bring Zeke to Paradis where they would make contact under government supervision. Presumably, Eren, Zeke and Historia would be extensively guarded throughout this whole process. There is a way to limit the chance of assassinations, and I talk about it in the video: copy the Reiss family. They would need to go into hiding. Frieda was only found specifically because of her connections to the government assembly (see ch 121). She was still the king, even though she was in hiding. She wouldn't have been found if it wasn't for that. Of course it would still be risky, but if the Founder and royals changed their names, they could hide literally anywhere, even in Hizuru (which would've been cooperative). Have only a few trustworthy soldiers aware of their location. Speaking of which, this is actually what they did to hide Historia. When the 50 year plan was being prepared to go into effect, she was hidden in the cabin alongside her husband. The only people who knew her location were a couple of soldiers, and for what it's worth, she was never found.
@@invaderzz The only way for the 50 year plan to work you need both Eren and Zeke eaten as soon as they step onto the island with Gabi and Falco being executed, as well (they knew about the roundabout and that was state security information of the utmost importance) Eren was a loose cannon that went AWOL. He could seal himself in a crystal and since Paradis didn't have the Jaw he would be untouchable Zeke is even more unreliable than Eren. The only reason the military should consider not feeding him immediately is because Zeke being a male could produce more royal children than historia. I will insist that Paradis had lackluster counter intelligence even before the coup. The military failed to notice the formation of the yeagerist group as well as the wine plot. If Erwin and/or Kenny were alive I would have more faith in the 50 year plan for the first 10-20 years at least. So, all in all, the 50 year plan could work but not with the Yeagers.

It’s quite obvious the rumbling is an evil thing. Someone explained it better than I will, but: - The people who are against the rumbling see the world of Attack on Titan like our real life one. Destroying the entire world to save a single country is delusional and egregiously wrong. - The people who are for the rumbling buy into the world building of Isayama. Attack on Titan is NOT set in our world and everyone in this story seems to feel pure shallow contempt for Paradis. Destroying the world in Attack on Titan is literally equivalent to destroying Nazi’s. The issue that is at the core of the this split is that the world building is really weak post-timeskip. We see Marley as literal Nazi’s, and yet some characters say that other places hate Eldians even more. People cheer and cry when war is declared on Paradis and there was no other alternative to the Rumbling to eliminate this hatred. Isayama justified the rumbling through the world building and said it was inevitable and yet it’s also depicted as evil and not the right solution (despite the story justifiying an 80% rumbling like that is much better). It is shoddy and the biggest weakness of the ending and Rumbling arcs. I actually wanted the Alliance to win, but the ending was pretty terrible at doing that. Wren still destroys 80% of the world, is "redeemed" in the eyes of the alliance despite this, the Alliance had no real plan, Paradis becomes a highly nationalistic and pseudo-fascist war state and its eventually destroyed anyway. At least to me, no one really got what they wanted out of the ending.
“Killing the world of AoT is like killing Nazis” Bro what absolutely not! Racism and naziism are not the same thing! There’s a big difference between your uncle with bad political beliefs and literal nazis. We’re supposed to believe in Isayama’s world-building right? How about the large point that he commonly iterated over that NOT EVERYONE IN THE WORLD IS LIKE THAT!
@@drewsclues5394 Just saying, I don't support the rumbling at all and I would have liked for the Alliance to stop Eren. No matter what, it's still an irrational thing to do and it's why Eren ended up becoming the antagonist (though is still made a matyr...). Marley is shown to resemble Nazi Germany throughout the story, and we are told that the other nations of the world similarly hate Eldians. We aren't ever shown much about their nations and so it's all we have to go off of. Of course, there wasn't a genocide of Eldian people like the holocaust, but the story itself is set up to draw comparisons to Nazi Germany. Paradis also represents Japan and it's history of imperialism, but that's another thing. The world had also declared war on Paradis and were cheering and crying over the declaration of war. Obviously not everyone even cares about Paradis and the people at the declaration of war were the corrupt people in power but a war was still declared and so Paradis would not have been aggressors if they didn't ambush Liberio. I'm not defending the concept of war, it's just that people die who are not directly involved in why the conflict exists. My issue is that there wasn't a plan for the Alliance. Zeke had his plan, Eren had his but Armin/Hange didn't have theirs (not counting the 50 year plan) and it makes it seem like Zeke and Eren are the only ones with any sort of plan or agency.
Your comments are well written! I actually had different wants from the story though. For instance I wanted the alliance to lose. To me they appear traitorous and ignorant, however I believe this is a result of poor world development as you stated. I think an entire 4th season could have been devoted to scouting expeditions of the outside world. Doing so gives us a greater connection to the world of AoT, and a far greater emotional impact when the rumbling eventually occurs. I also believe Eren is completely justified. In his world, the strong dominate. We’ve seen this since the first episode. Eren isn’t human- he is simply a different species fighting for survival, using every last ounce of his strength and sheer willpower to live.

Euthanasia won't work because they'll just get nuked, other nations already want their country for their resources and hold a centuries old grudge to them. It's a literal "kill or be killed" scenario. 80% rumbling however is the most retarded action. It's death of Paradis + 80% others for no reason (Eren doesn't know why he did it). But Marley wanted the support of the world to defeat Paradise, so they made Tybur's speech and invited government officials to listen. So after Eren killed those government officials, he automatically made the other countries involved in that war, in the war they weren't involved in before. That's was the Marley and Tybur's plan and what Eren wanted
I just wanted to add that you're glossing over Marley's active role in gathering the world's forces to eradicate Paradis and the Eldian people there. Zeke may have fanned the flames for his own ends, but Marley and Willey Tybur actively sought to genocide Eldians to scapegoat their own actions. Marley at this point had been at peace with the remnants of the Eldian Empire for 100 years (the same time that has passed between us and WW1) and in its place had engaged in nearly constant wars of aggression against neighbouring countries, using the very same Titans they claimed to hate. Marley was having its cake and eating it too, by raging against the "hated devils" and using those same "devils" to expand its Empire. Upon learning that the Founding Titan had fallen into Eren's hands and he had miraculously bypassed the royal requirements and the vow renouncing war, their immediate action was to try and bring the world together to genocide the island. Willey, and the Tybur family, had been in control of this country since it became the dominant world power, and they never once tried to use their influenced position as Eldians to improve race relations for their people. If they themselves could be accepted by the wider world, why couldn't he use that as an example to help bridge the gap for the other Subjects of Ymir? No, instead he actively chose to continue their oppression, even instating the Warrior program, where they literally brainwash child soldiers to die in their wars. Also, don't forget that at the speech, many in the audience were clapping with tears in their eyes at the bloodshed to come; bloodshed aimed at innocent people who's only crime was to exist. Eren killed Willey after he declared war, a declaration he decided to go through with, to set up a war to genocide his own people. No one forced him to do that. They wanted the Founding Titan to continue their imperialistic aggression abroad and to expand their Empire. Magath even warns to Willey that it's too late to stop Marley, since the entire country is too far gone with its wars of unprovoked aggression. Willey himself even states that "Marley chose this for itself." He was the most powerful man in Marley, if he truly wished to avoid genociding Eldians, he could have found a way. To blame that on Eren and Zeke is simply disingenuous. The world's forces gathering at the mainland were not there just for show. They were genuinely preparing to enact their own genocide. What was Eren to do? Technology was advancing too rapidly, hoping to delay for 50 years was being naïve. He had only 4 years left to do anything meaningful, and trying to pass down the Founding Titan and keep royals alive to activate its power after he was gone was extremely uncertain at best. Eren knew that he had to act then and there since it would probably be the last time that they could use the Rumbling effectively and the last time to guarantee his peoples' survival (including his friends.) When choosing against a world that wouldn't fix its hatred before the Eldians were exterminated and saving his home, for Eren it was no choice at all. No matter how you slice it, Eren wouldn't have gone through with what he did had the world not decided to wipe out the Eldian race first. He activated his Rumbling Plan only because he and his entire people (along with his best friends) were under the threat of annihilation. He was defending his home and people against a superior technologically advanced army which actively frothed at the mouth for their destruction. I've always supported Eren for this, and always will.

If Eren killed 100%, the titans would still exist because Ymir would still not be free. With the Titans existing, nothing would stop Paradise from becoming the Eldia of 2000 years ago, who started killing each other in what is known as "The Great Titan War". So things happened as they should
@@ronaldoucl nah. Ymir could’ve stopped appearing bc it was told to us that eren was the one she was waiting for, we didn’t need that stupid plot twist and ymir didn’t need to betray him. She could’ve been free and gave her powers to eren, then he completes the rumbling and ends the titan curse. Doing 80% does absolutely nothing and is useless and cruel
To be fair though. The entire world declared war on paridi knowing they had they rumbling power. They declared war and eren won. Erens the monster they created. Tbh if humanity liked eldians. Then eren probably would’ve just explored the world happily enjoying freedom with mikasa and armin
erentards always try to use declaration of war event as the escape goat lmao but they seem to ignore the fact it was caused by eren and zekes actions. The declaration of war event was caused because of Eren and Zeke’s schemes. I have also included the chapter numbers so no one say say it is my head cannon. Yelena laid out the plans to attack on Liberio to provoke worlds nations and give them a month to gather their ships and destroy them in one attack with partial rumbling(Chapter 132). Moving forward with that plan, Zeke gives the suggestion for Marley to move forward with their Paradis invasion plan emphasizing the need for an international declaration to buy Marley time for modernization (Chapter 93). In pursuit of this, Zeke suggests to invite Willy Tybur as a “narrator” for Marlyean Eldians drafting a script with him for the upcoming festival (Chapter 95). Willy, recognizing the enmity that stands between Marley in the world, plans to use Paradis’s upcoming attack as a means to rally them against the island - his plan to do so will not work unless that happens (Chapter 100) This global alliance wouldn’t even exist if Eren and Zeke hadn’t conspired to bring the events of Declaration of War to fruition.
Lol Paradis was minding their business ignorant of the outside world till Marley attacked them. Marley decided to escalate the conflict even further by involving the entire world by claiming Paradis is planning to destroy the world and with their hate for Eldians all the other countries cheerful joined the opportunity to wipe out the “island devils”. The world made it an us vs them proposition with no room for negotiations or compromise. Eren chose the safety and protection of his people over a world that would like to see him and his loved ones exterminated. In the context of the show you need more than “genocide is bad” and “what about all the innocent people” to convince me that the rumbling wasn’t the right choice given the circumstances
Exactly. When Yams has presented us with "100% rumbling or this tiny island and all its people die", and has even shown us that because the rumbling was only done at 80%, which led to the island getting attacked, the whole "what about the innocent people?!" argument doesn't work, ESPECIALLY since it was shown that not one damn nation was on the isolated island's side.
you've probably heard of the trolley paradox where you choose to save one life or many lives by sacrificing the other. this is that paradox. eren probably wasn't even thinking of the people of the paradis at that moment... but just wanted freedom for ymir.
@@roukerasati9611 The incomplete Rumbling didn't lead to the island getting attacked in the future. There's no context given for why the island gets destroyed when it does-- it's actually just a page with no dialogue.

The AU you're talking about is one in which Paradis lost the power of the Founder because Eren ran away. It's correct that Paradis couldn't survive without the power of the Founding Titan, and I never said they could. Eren was correct to say that in that scenario, Paradis would be destroyed.

In terms of logistical matters, a full scale Rumbling was the only sure fire way of eliminating any outside forces that could threaten Paradis. Even in a fairytale scenario in which other nations actually hear the Scouts out, and/or Eren unleashed a partial Rumbling to take out the other nations military forces, the time that would buy Paradis wont last enough, and it will be eventually colonized by the rest of the world. That being said, a world scale rumbling is indefensible, no matter what. Billions of innocent people, completely out of the conflict between Eldia and Marley, were slaughter for simply living outside of the walls, and the main reason for Eren taking such a drastic measure was one of selfish bloodlust, a need to satisfy his never ending craving for the concept of freedom that has long since been corrupted.
@preternatural Invaderzz is such a coward and his viewers have clearly had their brains mashed becaused of his head canons. They go around in circles and contradict themselves again and again. He has to be trolling surely.
Your first two paragraphs completely and utterly contradict your final statement. It's the only way and you admit it, no other solution actually sticks. Nukes or even cold war era aircraft alone would completely nullify any effectiveness the rumbling had, and as such the world could exact their burning bloody revenge and have nothing standing in their way, even a full power founder. Erens character is such nonsense in this last arc. He has basically none of his prior values, and this massive change is given an explanation that amounts to "time travel idk"
So tired of the Eren rumbled the world for a book headcanon. Even though Eren said he long forgotten about the book in season 3 part 2. The only time you took the text at surface level was at a panel that fit your ludicrous point 💀
Outside world not meeting his ideal vision was one of the main driving forces behind his decision to do the rumbling since Isayama dedicates a whole chapter to it where Eren says that the rumbling was partially for the safety of island but that it's more than that. It was mainly for his selfish dream. Basically Eren did the rumbling because (in the order of importance): his violent nature = the outside world not meeting his expectations = his friends >>>> the island/eldia. In the end however Eren was somewhat able to overcome his dream and nature because his friends came to stop him and he allowed them kill him.
@@Jonas-ob2sh So you're telling me if the outside world was kind and friendly to Paradis, Eren would still wanna kill them? Gtfoh with the book headcanon. Its not real, and it makes absolutely zero sense for Eren
@@Jonas-ob2sh The reason for the rumbling was Marley's constant persistence to wipe Paradis off the map. Eren retaliated in the only way that was available to save his island. There was no other options to save Paradis and Eren knew that
Check the second half of 131, that shows that one of his motivations is turning the outside world into something he saw in that book. Important quotes: "I'm doing this to save eldians and the island... but there's more" "When I found out that humans lived outside the walls... I was disappointed". Notice how he starts crying and squeezing Ramzi's shoulder. He knows how he feels deep down is bad, because even though he just befriended Ramzi, he wishes that he never existed, and everything would be like the book outside of Paradis, nothing but beautiful mountains, deserts and hot springs. Also notice how he reverts back to a little kid at the end of 131 when he's saying all of this, and then we see that flashbacks with him and Armin reading the book. He is still obsessed with that book, like when he was young. I hate the ending but these are obviously not headcanons, he is definitely motivated by the book.
@@ThatAsianGuy68 ppl just ain't willing to wrap their heads around this simple and relevant logic idk why they base their opinions on head canons when what you just stated is indeed all CANON. the story ain't even that complex for there to be need of unnecessary mental gymnastics.

This whithout the declaration of war not happening in this timeline of course, i think we can trust the guy that can alter/sees the future. If someone brings up the " im a idiot" , its because himself doesnt bring up to a solution that is not the rumbling to protect his friends.
Are you forgetting the fact that after the Eldian Empire was in control they began to destroy themselves for power before the First King of the walls decided to leave? Or more recently, how Floch literally was killing any opposition that stood in his way for his goal? Completing the rumbling would have changed absolutely nothing, they would have simply killed themselves. Nothing can change human nature.
@@MrWordcraft If Paradis Island destroyed itself, then wouldn’t the 20% also do the same thing until there’s no more humans left? So basically there’s no point in anything.
@@choo_8142 that is part of the point but paradis is extremely small and the power of the titans is alredy know to be a cause of conflict, simply killing everyone is never a soloution because it only puts of the problem, a ending where everyone understands each other and decided that peace is great isn’t likely but like the real world, although its risky war can be contumely avoided with the right approach
The Rumbling was only pointless because it failed. If it succeeded it would certainly have saved the people of Paradis. Because it failed, the Eldians on Paradis will be killed.
You could say this about anything though. If I'm worried my car will get stolen and so I kill everyone on Earth I've succeeded in protecting myself but that doesn't make it justifiable.
rumbling was not the only way to save the paradise. even after willy declared war. everything could be settled by partial rambling. all of eren's actions were aimed at satisfying himself (destroying the people of the outside world and titan curse), saving friends. everything went almost as eren wanted. in any case, the war did not happen at all because he failed. it was apparently a new conflict. I'm not saying that maybe race wasn't the primary reason for starting the war but about the fact that there is always a reason or an excuse. although there isn't much to argue about. isayama is a writer, not a historian. the message is that war never ends
disagree. the point is that when you forget history, you are doomed to repeat it. the rumbling wouldn't have solved human conflict, it only would have shrunk the playing field. "As long as there's two people left on the planet, someone is gonna want someone dead"
What is the endgame of the 50 year plan? Build a military to compete with other nations without relying on the rumbling? So basically you keep paradis alive because you have planes and bombs now and you’re a normal nation. But the rumbling is 100x more effective and they still chose to attack multiple times throughout the story. If the option now is planes instead of *world flattening titans,* that just gives even less of a reason to cooperate with paradis since they can easily be destroyed. If they attacked a peaceful nation in the face of world flattening titans multiple times throughout the story, why would they not attack in the face of a normal military? The answer is that they would attack. Except this time, there is no contingency plan since you are giving them time to develop a way to stop the titans. If the racist world wants you dead, you’re dead. Paradis doesn’t win here.
Also what is this whole “we can use the rumbling if they break the agreement and attack us”. They broke the agreement already by breaking the walls. They knew the rumbling was a threat and still attacked. They knew the rumbling was a threat and still made a declaration of war. The 50 year plan still justifies the rumbling, it just draws another line and says “no, this is the amount of broken promises that aren’t allowed”. It’s like getting cheated on twice and giving your bf/gf another chance. Sure, you can do it, but the difference between the number of “chances” you give them is just philosophical BS. Nobody knows where to draw the line. So if you can justify a rumbling under them violating the 50 year plan agreement, I don’t know how you can boldly say that the rumbling is indefensible. You just have your own standard for exactly how many chances are deserved, that isn’t a strong argument against a rumbling. What happens if they cluster bomb 20% of paradis. Do we give them another chance with the exact same threat (rumbling) they’ve ignored for the entire series? Again, its just a question of how many chances you think are moral. I don’t think it’s the solid steel argument against the rumbling that you think it is.
@@Mark-xw5yt the point of the 50 year plan is not that at all, it’s “give us a chance to make peace” not “if you attack us again we’ll kill you all” and no it wasn’t at peace before that, it was “we’ll probably kill you all and it can happen any time” then they shut themselves off without making any kind of peace
Lmao you could just use the Rumbling to destroy all military installations in the world The Rumbling as idealized by Eren and the Yeagerists is completely indefensible, it's just mass genocide against enemies and innocents alike.

Paradis is stuck between a rock and a hard place. So all in all, can the full rumbling be defensible? Yes, I believe it can be.

I never watched Attack on Titan. I just read comments, and watched videos. As far as I can tell, Marley basically declared war on Paradis. Knowing they had a nuke option. There's a real good reason why why we don't get into a hot war with countries that have nukes. Now if it was just Marley turning Eldians into titans, and getting destroyed, that would be one thing, but apparently there's a line in the show saying other countries are even worse towards Eldians. It is a shame that civilians get targeted in war, but that's why war is bad. It's just something that happens. I don't see a reason to blame Eren or anyone from Paradis for striking back at a country that wants them all subjugated or killed. If given the chance to live or die, most people will choose to live. When the whole world wants you to die, that means you destroy the rest of the world. Or I guess you could just kill yourself if you really wanted to, but that's not considered a good idea by mentally stable people. Did every single person outside the walls need to be killed? No. But when even other Eldians from outside the walls are fighting and killing you, that means you have no allies outside. They all just want you dead. Zeke wanting Ymir to just make Eldians unable to breed is a cop out. Just say you want them all to die. I don't blame people for defending the rumbling. Most people are not going to lie down and die, just for someone else's convenience. Sorry I don't feel like watching a 55 minute video, but I did feel like getting my thoughts out. Maybe if I actually read the manga, or watched the anime, I'd understand better, but it seems like it boils down to "Do you like living, or not?".
You got it right! The situation is basically 'world can't let go of racist views and are angry with something from 2000 years ago' vs 'a small island population, who are innocent of the crimes their ancestors committed 2000 years ago'. In the end, it is a us vs them situation, and despite what some people will scream about, YES, going against the rumbling is STILL supporting genocide. Lots of people will die either way, as one of the whole things about AoT is not letting go of hatred and letting that cycle repeat.
The argument the video advances is that the situation where Marley and the world would be pressed to directly attack Paradis was engineered by the protagonist and several others, and there wouldn't have been a do or die situation for Paradis if not for that because there'd be no reason to spend the resources regardless of how much they hated Eldians.
@@rob_lucci9100 The anime is far more explicit in detailing why Eren did the rumbling through his own admission: He wanted to wipe everything away, he wanted to see “that sight”, he's a slave to his own desire for freedom. The rumbling was never a “I didn't want to do it but I had no choice” situation.
@@toxin4609 Except that Eren explored other available options before deciding to do the Rumbling. If he didn't do the Rumbling, Paradis would have been invaded shortly after the declaration of war.
How did this whole series start? Go back to episode 1. Marley ATTACKED Paradis, killing untold numbers of people with Titans. Not just killed, eaten alive. And they planned to continue these attacks until all the Eldians there were dead and they could harvest Paradis' natural resources. We can say that Eren went too far in his response to Marley's aggression. But we can't say that Eren was 100% in the wrong, or 100% to blame for the conflict.

The founder Ymir will only accept Eren as the last founding Titan as Eren promised, he will end this Titan dominance and Titan curse once and for all to Ymir. If Eren goes along with Zeke's plan. It would be bad writing for Eren's character because it would let him turn a blind eye to the Founder Ymir's slavery and Historia's slavery up to the last generation of her family. This would not be Eren anymore. And it's allowing immorality too on other characters. The show does not justify genocide as good but it also does not justify slavery either. Edit: If you support Zeke's plan, you also support King Fritz' idea of forcing children to eat their parents from two blood lines. You also support forced pregnancy and forced birth on those two bloodlines.
Everyone conveniently forgets this point. Eren vowed to end Titans and he did. He's all for free will and disgusted by idea of breeding royal bloodline like cattle and eating their mothers to continue this curse. It's not explicit but if you observe it is evident that most of what Eren did aka rumbling is to get Yimir on his side and ultimately get her to give up titan powers. If he really wanted to flatten the world he would have taken away titan powers from everyone else (Armin, Reiner etc.). He wanted them to find him sooner and kill him, so the rumbling would stop n Yimir would give up her powers. Eren's actions are heavily pre-destined by Yimir's desire to free herself from suffering. @@TheAssassinsfan2234 That's mostly only evidence that Willy's a very captivating and engaging speaker, and that he left a strong impression in that moment. Again, highly engaging displays of propaganda can leave a strong impression in the short run, but it doesn't last forever when they're not borne out by reality. Plus let's not forget that Tybur openly admitted to (along with his whole family) knowingly deceiving the world in that speech. The worst part of this all is that all of this cruelty was inflicted upon Eldians for crimes committed by their ancestors. The world didn't just deserve the rumbling. They earned it. Just because the number of casualties would be vastly different. I imagine you guys would rather destroy the rest of the world then watch your people and loved ones die.

We also only see that part of paradise bombed, it's unclear whether or not paradis does not exist anymore or not. He is, by visual context alone, a scavenger, or someone living off the land. So no, it's not a 1 to 1 image. You can clearly see that by rereading those chapters. The motif of children being in the forest is the ongoing theme of the manga. Paradis was going to have conflict no matter what. Although this kid is only doing a bit better than Ymir, the children in the forest are doing better, however, are not completely out of it. The clear theme of AOT is that conflict will always exist, and this theme is expanded by Eren's dialogue of "They're (those who chose to leap into hell) able to see something beyond that hell. Maybe that something is hope, or another hell." It's hard to imagine that anyone who's really read aot could expect all conflict to be solved by the end LOL.

Exactly! Yet there's weirdos in the comment section that think fictional universe genocide = irl morals and events, and then go name calling everyone calling them fascists. It's really pathetic.
Precisely. That is why people should always have this in mind: that fiction is parallel to reality. That is why Eren is depicted as a villain when he’s actually doing the right thing - in the SNK world of course. No one would want mass global genocide in real life.
I justify the rumbling because you have to be willfully disingenuous to believe paradise island stood a chance against the entire world when a weakened Marley was able to infiltrate and attack shortly after having their capital city assaulted. Eren realized this early on in a flash back "we need more time" he understood that the world would only listen if they no longer held all the advantages and this is reflected in history, the strong take the weak. Paradise has valuable resources and her inhabitants are seen as less than human. You can disagree with the actions taken but it's very very very very very very very obviously stated that paradise would never survive and assault from the other nations, I also don't see it as evil or senseless. Ofc hell attack, you're pushing his entire race towards extinction for something they themselves do. Marley uses children soldiers as titans and treats the race as sub human, even killing children with dogs and no one bats an eye....you're on the wrong side

The 50 year plan was a non solution. Marley's infiltration and secret attack proved it.
Paradis has little to none counter intelligence capabilities.
The only reason Paradis survived for a long time was
1) Pieck didn't have the green light to kill Eren at the spot.
@@invaderzz The only way for the 50 year plan to work you need both Eren and Zeke eaten as soon as they step onto the island with Gabi and Falco being executed, as well (they knew about the roundabout and that was state security information of the utmost importance)
Eren was a loose cannon that went AWOL. He could seal himself in a crystal and since Paradis didn't have the Jaw he would be untouchable
Zeke is even more unreliable than Eren.

I want him to use brackets! For 10 years at least!
This video will (not) changed how you see The Rumbling.
What a man he is
You could also argue that the Rumbling is the result of mankind’s continuous hate towards each other.
It’s quite obvious the rumbling is an evil thing. Someone explained it better than I will, but:
- The people who are against the rumbling see the world of Attack on Titan like our real life one.
“Killing the world of AoT is like killing Nazis”
Bro what absolutely not!
@@drewsclues5394 But it's made very clear that every population in the world IS like that. Are their individual exceptions? Sure, but then so were there in Germany, and we still firebombed Berlin.
@@t.7124 Yeah there were a lot of Nazi parallels and allegories with Marley and stuff. I think all of that was really good writing on Isayama’s part. The issue is that the dude equated the entire world to the Nazis which is a vast oversight.
When people say they'd be different and help stop the Nazis if they were Germans in that time period I just laugh and point to the AoT fanbase. People would definitely support the genocide and try to justify it any way they can. Even now they just hurl insults and rely on fallacies to counter or ignore logical arguments. Its just laughable.

@@okamisaiai5459 Not everyone hated the island. All this time the war was between Marley and Paradise.

Willy, recognizing the enmity that stands between Marley in the world, plans to use Paradis’s upcoming attack as a means to rally them against the island - his plan to do so will not work unless that happens (Chapter 100)
This global alliance wouldn’t even exist if Eren and Zeke hadn’t conspired to bring the events of Declaration of War to fruition.

Important quotes:
"I'm doing this to save eldians and the island... but there's more"
"When I found out that humans lived outside the walls...
I hate the ending but these are obviously not headcanons, he is definitely motivated by the book.

rumbling was not the only way to save the paradise. even after willy declared war. everything could be settled by partial rambling. all of eren's actions were aimed at satisfying himself (destroying the people of the outside world and titan curse), saving friends. everything went almost as eren wanted. in any case, the war did not happen at all because he failed. it was apparently a new conflict. I'm not saying that maybe race wasn't the primary reason for starting the war but about the fact that there is always a reason or an excuse. although there isn't much to argue about. isayama is a writer, not a historian. the message is that war never ends
@@LORAX_TV Who says it’s a new conflict? That’s your headcannon. Either way Paradis will die
@@LORAX_TV ur delusional , paradise got bombed bcz eren killed billions of their ppl, u think thd other nations are going to forget that?
disagree. the point is that when you forget history, you are doomed to repeat it. the rumbling wouldn't have solved human conflict, it only would have shrunk the playing field.
I don’t think it’s the solid steel argument against the rumbling that you think it is.
there is no weapon that could stop the rumbling, and the rumbling being effective does not make it defensible

So long as Paradis has the capability to use the full rumbling, the outside world would always fear them as island devils. But, if paradis were to ever lose the strength of the rumbling, Marley would invade and destroy paradis, along with stealing the founder. The point of the story here is that there is no right answer.

You didn't missed anything.. it was basically a " do or die " situation
Lots of people will die either way, as one of the whole things about AoT is not letting go of hatred and letting that cycle repeat.
youve genuinely understood the story better than a lot of people whove actually read/watched it
The argument the video advances is that the situation where Marley and the world would be pressed to directly attack Paradis was engineered by the protagonist and several others, and there wouldn't have been a do or die situation for Paradis if not for that because there'd be no reason to spend the resources regardless of how much they hated Eldians.

Also because he was a maniac who from day one wanted to kill everyone outside the wall. My man even killed his own mother to motivate Grisha to give him the powers of the titans
It took the rumbling to draw out the coordinate
You should defend the rumbling. Their was no other choice
I mean there were other choices but they would still involve Genocide either way.
The 50% years plan was a better option. They only had to sacrifice Historia, not the 80% of the humanity xD
@@ronaldoucl that’s still genocide either way
@@Jl-qg5xz No, they only had to destroy Marley's army, prepare their arsenals and their army in the next 50 years and try to dialogue with all of them for a peace agreement. It's not impossible.
@@ronaldoucl It was more than marley that wanted to destroy them. Remember in season 4 episode 5, the entire world teams up to declare war on paradise. It is impossible
"Rumbling is indefensible"... As if Euthanasia is defensible
This video does not once defend the euthanasia plan
He didn't argue that was defensible, either.
@@seg162 welp that's the only 2 options since nobody wants peace . Genius . U guys literally cannot fathom what your views are anymore.
@Lord clearly you don't know what putting yourself in the " good" guys shoes is. Pls tell me who, that isnt some reddit dwelling " free thinker" thinks " yeah despite these ppl having nothing to do with king fritz they should slowly die out instead of retaliating against this global declaration of war" like what?
@Lord well eren has memories of the future and something we didnt see is likely why he did this . And also partial rumbling would just get them killed , that's why he did 80%, he did a majority rumbling instead of partial bc he knew what the world would do . They would just be angry instead of afraid, but you kill 80% of the world and then are killed by your people ? That's how the tyburs ended up where they are as normal people, except now the world cant paint eldians as devils for a war they created. Plus this video is a attempted cash grab like his other garbage needs to go back to 4th grade where he dropped out bs so I'm about done giving it interactions. Dude changes his titles n junk 40 times to max out his attention seeking levels
Bro just rehashes the story and then make illogical leaps unsupported by anything in the story.
How can you just say the 50 year plan would work categorically and not say one reason why it would 😂😂
Especially when Izayama made quite clear that the other nations were completely in unhinged in their pursuits of destroying Paradis.
Do you people even read the panels or what. This fandom has problem with reading comprehension and making basic inferences based on logic & reason. The amount of people just making shit up is crazy
lmao he have many reason why the 50 year plan would work lmao.
Erentrads are so blind that they cant stand the fact that there were other option to save paradise.
@@SpantzcatdogEren is killing other nations as well, nations that never attacked paradise, nation that are allied with paradise.

Two Wrong don't make a right
It was a civil war bro trust me
Not defending the rumbling either BUT it did end the Titan curse. Story wise, it was necessary. From a moral standpoint point that’s arguable, do we let an entire ethnicity of people continue to suffer ? Genocide is wrong, but the contexts of the story make it difficult to weight out the morals of both.
Doesn’t the kid finding that tree imply that the curse hasn’t ended?
@@bruhbruhingham4202 yea but under very different circumstances from Ymir. It’s the opportunity for a different outcome, something I think has been a core value in that last arc.
@@dannyboi866 different outcome? That kids country has been bombed to shit, the imagery of the child walking into the forest, and its a literal 1 to 1 image of ymir going to the tree lol why would you think it would be different or any better
@@mouse7965 Clearly, this boy isn't being chased, hunted,or injured. He's discovered this tree on his own agency as to where Ymir had to hide in it from being hunted.
Maybe that something is hope, or another hell."
It's hard to imagine that anyone who's really read aot could expect all conflict to be solved by the end LOL.
@@mouse7965 Because the guy is coping
Changed the title again lmao
Bro stop Changing the title the video ain't going viral
The Rumbeling is defensible from Paradis's points of view. Luckily it's all fictional and morals in a fictional universe do not reflect my morals in the real world.
Exactly! Yet there's weirdos in the comment section that think fictional universe genocide = irl morals and events, and then go name calling everyone calling them fascists. It's really pathetic.
Yep, you do the Rumbling or you die.
Isayama cornener the island in this situation.
@@roukerasati9611 it’s on the level of arguing that people are murderers for killing pixels in a video game. It’s a totally nonsensical argument
@@roukerasati9611 Bro you kill people in call of duty! YOU MUST SUPPORT REAL LIFE MURDER THAN!
Precisely. That is why people should always have this in mind: that fiction is parallel to reality. That is why Eren is depicted as a villain when he’s actually doing the right thing - in the SNK world of course. No one would want mass global genocide in real life.
Genocide is bad!? What a shocking revelation
Guy spent 50 minutes for a "Genocide Bad" punchline
I can't tell if your serious or not.
Don't waste time on this video people
