    You teach with great clarity. I drawn to Evoto as I've just spent 6 hours on a lightroom photoshop edit as I normally do, and I'm still not finished! But the round trip file handling still makes me nervous. Thanks

    Thank you very much Mark! Though I feel this video could have been 5 minutes long instead of 15, many repeating parts, but that is just constructive criticism, this is not hate in any way, I love your videos. Thank you for your time and sharing this new feature! :) - ALSO IMPORTANT to keep in mind, at 11:41 we can see how much the space needed is multiplying, from a 50Mb RAW file, into 2 additional temporary files that sum up to 520Mb (262Mb each) and this is just 1 image, if you have a batch of say 100 or 1000 images this could BLOW UP exponentially so be carefull when using this feature. Peace ✨✨🖤🖤

    • @MarkWallaceVideos
      @MarkWallaceVideos  4 місяці тому +3

      Yep, the files can eat up a hard drive. You face the same issue exporting to Photoshop or any app that creates a new TIFF. The Tiff is not a temporary file, it becomes the new working file in LR after the roundtrip. Luckily storage space is pretty inexpensive these days.

    @paulg3388 2 місяці тому +1

    Great Video. May I just ask, as I am new to Evoto, it will cost you a credit to export each time you do this correct? but does the same rule apply like it does when you re-export the same photo from Evoto to a normal export file? ie: It doesn't cost you a credit each time for the same photo. I just wanted to check that before I go down this route. Also for those Lightroom CC/Desktop users out there, I just tried this and it works.

    • @MarkWallaceVideos
      @MarkWallaceVideos  2 місяці тому +2

      It only costs one credit per photo. Once you export it's 1 credit. If you do a new edit on that same photo and export, no new charge. You can modify and export as much as you want - 1 photo: 1 credit.

    Dumb question, but is there a goog method to go back and forth between the two? I import to LR, rate my keepers a 3, export directly to Evoto, edit and then exort back to LR where I create a virtual copy and turn them to black and white then do the photo reveal with client, moving our final selections to 5 stars. I'd like to further edit in Evoto, but not sure of how to go about syncing my rating updates/b&w conversions.

    Hi Mark! Thanks for your insight. I was curious about exporting as JPG from LR to edit because I normally do that and select "sharpen for screen, standard." Do you notice any difference by not doing that in terms of sharpness? Thanks again! Happy holidays

    • @MarkWallaceVideos
      @MarkWallaceVideos  2 місяці тому +2

      Sharpening should always be done as the very last step in your process, and it depends on where the photo is going to be used (screen, small screen, print, etc). In this workflow sharpening and exporting as JPG would really downgrade your image. Instead - export to Evoto and do all your edits - import back into LR. Then you can export the FINAL image as a jpg and add sharpening. This allows you to get the very best results.

    • @MarkWallaceVideos
      @MarkWallaceVideos  4 місяці тому

      In Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) you can make your adjustments and then save the file from ACR as a TIFF file. Then open the TIFF in Evoto, make your edits, and then open that in Photoshop. Hopefully Evoto will create a plug-in so Evoto can be used as a filter in the future.

    • @MarkWallaceVideos
      @MarkWallaceVideos  4 місяці тому +1

      No, you'll have to export the file from Photoshop (I use TIFF) then open and edit in Evoto. After you've finished your Evoto Edits bring the image back into Photoshop by opening the file or placing it as a new layer.

    Why are you only using resolution 240 instead of 300 to go to lightroom? Isn't that reducing the file? When I go to edit in Evoto, the settings default to Tiff, 240, and zip... I keep having to change to that 240 and the zip... How do I get it to use the same settings every time?

    • @MarkWallaceVideos
      @MarkWallaceVideos  3 місяці тому

      240 is just the pixels per inch, not the image size. ua-cam.com/video/zDd7C4d0R4U/v-deo.htmlsi=e64rc_0PtGKcyjgM

    In my view, the backup file is unnecessary and creates an additional file that I will need to delete later, especially when I edit a lot of files. Since I already have the RAW file, the edits are inherently non-destructive. I hope Evoto will consider making this backup file optional.

    • @fashopimpin
      @fashopimpin 14 днів тому

      @@MarkWallaceVideosHighly doubt they’ll do this because they charge you for exports if you’re not exporting they’re not making money. I’ve asked them to change to a subscription model they said they haven’t considered a change in the pay structure.
