This guy has mad skill. I'm fit and healthy, but would not climb on shaky ladders just to blindly nail up from one board into another. I respect true skill. Craftsman. Do anything in life to the level of a craft and you will be showered with success.

I believe that you epitomize all that the men who settled North America were. You see what has to be done and you do it; whether it be building your shelter, growing your garden or catching a fish. And all without complaining or looking to others to do it for you. And you still find time for a loving word for Cali. A real man in every way.
I was so upset for you and your family had to leave the other place. I watched a lot of it being built. That said, what you and your family are doing now is stunning. This new cabin has the bones to be a multi generational residence with a subsistence farm to boot. I think you are taking the best care of your family possible.
Hi, Shawn. I'm a Canadian transplanted to Switzerland where I've been for many years (I married an Austrian beauty). Just got back home today from my first visit back to the homeland since COVID began. I spent the last week in Algonquin Park in total serenity. Only thing I heard were the loons! Watching your videos always brings me back home. Great progress on your cabin. Thanks so much for all the hard work you put in to provide us with weekly updates. Bless you! 🍁🇨🇦🦫
Excellent progress and we really do appreciate all the extra work that working alone entails - and with hand tools. Amazing resilience and focus and really appreciate all the work with your lifestyle. The produce looks great - and there is nothing like turning over a tattie shaw to discover the tatties lurking beneath. Well done - and all that from hay! Thank you again for sharing your choices with us and making them come true in a self-reliant life. Much appreciated.
So excited to see the roof being installed, moving day is getting closer. Anxious for you to be living in comfort in your new homestead friend, you deserve it! As much as it saddened us your viewers to see you pushed out of the last property, it’s exciting to watch you building the new one, bigger and better! Thanks again for sharing Shawn!
@@cindabuss5028 you could go watch the videos about it from about a year or 18 months ago. Shawn explains. At the time he lost a few subscribers who were sad to think all the work he put in on cabin 1 was lost. But now look where he is. The new property has become a big focus.

I'll never tire of this. The way the roof is coming together is a work of art. Seriously, you could sell calendars of your photography building this cabin. And Cali. And fishing. And loons making their wild call. Stay safe, and you are in our prayers always.
Fantastic progress with the roof, Sasquatch himself could jump up and down on it and the roof not waiver..lol The canoe trip on the lake was beautiful, I could definitely see myself having that loon and moose for neighbors! Love what you're doing ❤️
Shawn I remember you and Callie digging out the foundation by hand and thinking what a daunting project you had set yourself and here you are today with the roof going on ,fantastic.
When I built my house during the week between Christmas and New Years, The pleasure of covering my 5/8" plywood on the rafters was putting Ice and water shield on it completely to be watertight until my 50yr Architectural roof Timberline shingles were put on a couple months later gave me a special feeling. But Shawn, your on another level! I had a dozen dudes.
What a beautiful building process, Shawn! Never cease to amaze me. Do you realize how many people would love to live in your cabin once it's done (myself included 😁)!!!
Man this cabin is going to be next level. And the fact that it was constructed by one person using more basic tools and methods will make it that much more awesome.
As we join Cali to watch Shawn building the new cabin, we're reminded that while he may never make a living at it, he will make a great life in it. Hard work and tangible progress are the balms that feed a man's soul. It feels good to be able to do it, it feels great when it is done, and it justifies the reward of a good meal and some well earned leisure time. Making your own rules and living your own life....it doesn't get any better.
Looking great. At 74 my wife and I have been building our cabin over the past 4 years. 22X44 - post and beam and conventional frame. Between me working we head down, 3 hour trip, 6 months out of the year. It is inaccessible the other 6 and spend 1-1/2 to 2 days each weekend. Almost completed. Just finished watertighing in the roof on the screened porch Saturday. The joke is will I live long enough to spend a day there and not work. Hope so but to be homest the journey has been the best part. Wife and I figured this would be something far better to leave the kids than a rusting RV. I must say I was a lot more limber at 25!
Wow, it's roof time. I've waited for this day like most of us have, now I can't wait to see you relaxing in a cosy reading corner, in your chair. This is so wonderful to see, Shaw. Sending love across the pond to sweet Cali too. UK.

The content and cinematography are so peaceful to watch, especially in the world we live in today is soothing to the soul. Keep up the amazing work and keep the content coming.
As much as I hated seeing you lose the other cabin I think it happened for a reason, this build has been and will be pretty amazing, to those of us who watch every video from beginning to end it is great to see the roof finally taking shape,to me the roof has always been the halfway point and it's downhill from there, the best part for me is seeing what you do on the inside of the cabin.
WOW Jimmy, I have been watching you for some years now, and during all that time watching you hone your various skills into what is today masterful. Plus, in most, if not all your projects are completely all by yourself. Россия сегодня страна - террорист !
Good Morning Shawn, watching the roof finally being applied has generated excitement in the old grey cells and then it ended. I feel as though we were cheated because now we have to wait. 😀 Love the sound or cry of the Loons, it brings back memories. May God protection and wisdom be with you and yours.
So happy to see the roof going on. One of the big moments in a build. Takes those sticks and makes them a shelter. Feels like you can live and survive anything once the roof is on. I think everyone needs to put a roof on their own house or turn on a light after wiring it in or turning in the heat after installing. Gives a REAL sense of home!!
I think that nothing beats the feeling of being under your own constructed shelter when the bad weather sets in. Keep up the good work Shawn. Blessings.
Sean I really enjoy your show I've been watching you about 2 years.. this is my first comment. I feel like I know you ,if I was to see you out I know I would recognize you. You're worth ethics is incredible. And the talks you give about where and how to buy land permits all of that. Just incredible thank you so much.
When I was a child we used to drive 14 hours 1 way to fish in Minnesota for 2 weeks each summer. My Dad fished during the day on the lake in a boat and Mom fished at night off the dock. My Dad used to say he heard me yelling at home from shore, but then the owner pointed out the Loons that lived on the lake and their unusual calls.he said it sounded like me yelling..lol. Thanx for bringing back great memories and beautiful outdoors and wild life.
What a perfect video to watch while I'm stuck home with the flu. I'm excited for the continual progress on this cabin. Getting the roof framed is a huge milestone in the process, and it won't be long until it is an enclosed space that will soon after be livable! I'm blown away by what you've been able to accomplish almost completely by yourself Shawn!
I'm watching again........it brought so much peace.......the music, the duck, the birds singing.......watching you work, remembering the time when I worked like you did, hard and heavy. Being 74 now, having heart attacks, and slowed down to almost a stop. Not getting out for two weeks sometimes a month.......this takes my mind to a place I was mobile and worked hard. The most enjoying part is when you take time out to be with your pup, she so enjoys being with you......take advantage of these special times........soon enough they come to an end faster than you can imagine, making wonderful memories. Blessings to you Shawn, to your pup, and your family.
You are really making headway Sean, Congrat's. I'm always amazed you are building the cabin by yourself, and doing such great work. I get the feeling most of the bugs are gone, Yeah!!
Easily the best 30mins on the box this week🤩 And you'll have your roof up before the bad weather sets in well done, Shawn.🥳

Россия сегодня страна - террорист !
Fantastic footage at the end of the video of a loon calling! Never seen such excellent footage of that! Thank you!
Great to be with Cali on the water, beautiful, trees, so peaceful💜 Loon is beautiful💕
Can't wait to see your cabin.
Very nice, so many times i wanted to be there to give you a hand, but you made it work doing it all alone. Good job.
Great job on your roof , Shawn .
Well Done Mr. James , milling that roof lumber is a chore but the results are Epic !
Christmas in the cabin will be Awesome !!
Enjoy All , Take care .
Determination and skill is what you are all about. Watching you on this build along with Callie makes my day. Thank you !
This Cabin is amazing loving the journey
I think that nothing beats the feeling of being under your own constructed shelter when the bad weather sets in. Keep up the good work Shawn. Blessings.
What an absolutely amazing feat. This is going to be one hell of a beautiful house when it's all done. I'm completely blown away.
Thank you for rebuilding your dream . I love your daughters channel as well. It is remarkable the pristine beauty of Canada.
Sean I really enjoy your show I've been watching you about 2 years.. this is my first comment. I feel like I know you ,if I was to see you out I know I would recognize you. You're worth ethics is incredible. And the talks you give about where and how to buy land permits all of that. Just incredible thank you so much.
House looks amazing Shawn 👍
Shawn, idk what’s captivating more, your fine craftsmanship building this canine, or your presentation of nature! Thank you so very much!
Always nice to see the attention to detail- and safety in your work.
So beautiful, Shawn! My back hurts just watching you.
You are really making headway Sean, Congrat's. I'm always amazed you are building the cabin by yourself, and doing such great work. I get the feeling most of the bugs are gone, Yeah!!
Never get tired watching this hard working man...nope...i just love it.Having a beer and a sandwich watching him makes my day👍
