Sorry Hila but Rihanna is def profiting off unethical work practices. She might not be a bad person at heart but she’s not a good example of an uncorrupt billionaire.
So if your truly about not supporting someone or a company as an entity because of systemic problems that said person or entity has no control over because they exist is said system, why are you here on UA-cam, bringing the Google company revenue while content theft and exploitation run rampant on the app/website, then you are contributing to said content theft and exploitation even indirectly by bringing views and comments,so by your logic you should not be on the platform because of your beliefs, or else you are also a contributor to the problem.
@@Minnesotamelarky You're doing the society meme. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism, but it doesn't mean you have to forgo all consumption just cause you don't like capitalism. That's impossible and silly.
@@Purpletrident + I would like to see a situation where consumption is 100% ethical in any global economy. you are extremely right when you say you it’s silly to avoid all consumption under capitalism, 100% right. But what is silly to me is to ignore that any consumer of UA-cam doesn’t contribute to the exploitation on the platform because we all know it does, so until people can come to terms with that and accept it and then look for improvements from that understanding is silly and impossible. Don’t criticize people for doing exactly what you are doing just because they are on a public platform, while you and consumers operate behind closed doors outside of the public eye.
For those who haven't been watching the pod since the beginning, about every 3-4 years Ethan and Dan get into this huge debate / conversation about whether billionaires should exist. I look forward to the next installment in 2026.
“Greed is good” is the most hilariously self reporting justification for capitalism I’ve ever heard. Just because you think “greed is inherent” doesn’t mean we should have a system that encourages it. Violence is arguably “inherent” in humans too, but guess what? We discourage it, because violence is objectively bad. Didn’t your parents ever tell you to share? To not be greedy? It seems capitalism has brainwashed people into thinking greed is good - now that’s “radical”.
@@On_The_Pissproblem is, I’m not going to share if the person I’m sharing with isn’t sharing with me. And here in America, we have an entire group of people who will not share and will only take. So no thank you.
That “inherently greedy” take is such an awful take. Ethan is pretty much saying “awful people are gonna exist and let them be awful so we can benefit from it” mmhmm good take bud
How is that a bad take? Minimizing the harm greedy people can do, because their existence is inevitable, is much more logical than pretending we can live in a world where everyone is perfectly moral...
most people are greedy, you don’t have to be a horrible monster to be greedy. How many people are currently doing something greedy? I’d guess 99% of people. I don’t even get what’s wrong with his opinion. Everyone should have free medical care, food, and housing, then you just work to provide for the greedy part of you that wants an even nicer house, car, or whatever
Yeah go give all your belongings to the first homeless people you see because you're so avert to the idea of greed. I say that for everyone in this chat losing it over the greed comment. okay all you anti greedsters get together and split all your assets money and personal items inbetween all the needy to prove how anti greedy you are.
Even if you believe greed is inherent (which I don't), that doesn't mean it should be encouraged. Is violence inherent? If so, why do we discourage it? Because it is objectively bad. Since when was greed a virtue? Didn't your mother ever tell you to share? Capitalism has made you believe being greedy is normal, or even a good trait. Now THAT is radical...@@bobcarl8119
What Ethan misses completely and Dan was a bit shy to point out: NO ONE is gonna get that rich, if they don’t have other people working for you. And that’s why you should compensate your workers a lot more then company’s do now. This podcast wouldn’t bring in so much money for Ethan, if it wasn’t for the crew to put in their work. If it was only Ethan and Hila, Teddy Fresh wouldn’t exist like it does now and the same goes for the Pod. It’s not hard to grapple. Everyone is investing their skills and fucking LIFETIME - why would that be worth different amounts of money? Dan is the queen ❤
And Ethan himself has even said that before! He knows how far the podcast has come with Dan producing, and everybody else's help, but somehow he keeps refusing to connect the dots
But the podcast wouldn’t exist without Ethan. What the workers deserve is subjective and putting a mandate on profit sharing would drastically raise the cost of employment. If I have to give someone profit share then I’m not going to hire entry level workers which would ironically create even more income inequality between the population
Also if those people have a stake in your company that they are working in don’t you think they would care about how the business is doing? If you were given a share of the profits you would work even harder and care even more so since you are seeing the fruits of your labor directly
@@arianathough2070exactly they said that before as well. That if it wasn’t for his well oiled machine with the crew, he wouldn’t be able to have 3-4 shows a week. He couldn’t do it himself.
@@brendanmassie9586the podcast today wouldn’t exist how it is without the workers though. Ethan has said he wanted to do more shows and alone he couldn’t. They edit, are part of the show, plan the ideas, upload, post on socials, ect. This level of production wouldn’t exist without them. If the whole crew left today and he hired all entry level people it would fall apart. That’s how valuable they are in this current stage.
Immediately when I saw Hila's painting, I saw so much love in it... the crew all painted Ethan as they know and interpret him, but she just drew her husband
I just finished art school and every single time I see an artist paint their partner I tear up at the beauty! you can always see the love in the gaze of the painting
I loved Olivia's. I had no idea she had any artistic ability so I didn't even guess it was hers. It looks like an illustration from a Newbury Award winning children's book.
No one becomes a billionaire without underpaying and exploiting other people. Using rihanna as an example is silly because she literally has a fast fashion company. I wish ethan would just say capitalism benefits him but there are still huge flaws under this system.
99% taxes on one billion is still 10 million dollars. Ethan usually seems very intelligent and nuanced on these type of topics, it's really disappointing to see his takes in this episode. It is just silly to me how he defends anyone making that much money. It's been calculated before, it's pretty much impossible to use that amount of money for any single person in their lifetime. Shit man why would you want people to hoard all that money just for the sake of 'i made it so it's mine' knowing that your wealth directly influences or neglects the poverty of others?
Agree 100%. I disliked seeing his IG posts saying he's less interested in having these seeing the negative responses afterwards. Thing is his opponents will always be loud while those who agree with him just sit back and enjoy the shows. Sometimes they'll show their appreciation but the loud opponents will suppress with downvotes and dogpiling.
Me and my buddy had this convo over pancakes a month ago, it’s really interesting I’m more on the Dan side but I can appreciate Ethan and everything he’s saying
@@Bradda I checked the subreddit after that episode and saw a *ton* of people supporting Ethan (rare btw) It was probably a 70/30 split in his favor. Not that I’d expect him to have much time on his hands to want to/be able to scroll through it all
I think what Ethan is missing about capitalism is that private enterprise isn't unique to it. Merchants and artisans far outdate capitalism, people working to make their own money from their own work. Capitalism is a specific system of how that money is distributed; the economy is in the hands of capital, not labor.
Dan massive W at the end. Ethan is soooo close to getting the point. Every trait he wants to fix is a socialist trait, yet he wants to stay in a capitalist society where only he benefits in the end. The rest of us aren't millionaires, or even people who have thousands. And i don't think he fully understands what hes even talking about anyways.
It's disgusting to see people make so much money and waste it on frivolous lawsuits and dumb bits instead of donating it or working towards systematic change for us all with that extra money. One person can't solve the issues but if all of these celebrities with $1million+ actually stopped hoarding the wealth the United States would be much healthier.
@@justingamroth9396 I make less than 25k a year. The cost of living for a single adult in the USA is 35k as of this year. Unless you come from generational wealth you are fucked under capitalism. I don't care about all of this variety of choice if I have no money to purchase anything. I'd rather be able to buy 10 items and actually have healthcare.
@nunpho How? I like Dan but he wasn't ready to be challenged by Ethan with good questions. He refers to Europe then fails to mention any concrete examples, then makes a fallacious argument that because capitalism has only existed for 200 years that socialism makes sense as the next system, which doesn't follow
I love Ethan saying that chat and Dan are unrealistic and want a fairytale, while he ends the show saying that he wants to live in a world where there are billionaires that don’t exploit people and the planet…uh…that’s a fairytale, dude.
I hate that a lot of us say if I become a billionaire I will give back to the people I highly doubt that. Once you get into that category people completely change and only care about themselves and more money.
LITERALLY. if we forever live in a system where one person rules over a nation, business, etc. workers will consistently be exploited. Greed is the problem and the only way to keep that in check is by not giving every inch of power to a single individual. This is exactly what we're talking about when we say that workers should own the means of production.
It benefits Ethan and Hila to act ignorant about their class position. The less challenge they face the easier it becomes to excuse harmful practices and obfuscate their roles as bosses and capital owners. You see it happen with these start-out-small media companies once they blow up, their margins expand but they insist on keeping an "unprofessional" air about them so as to seem down to earth and relatable. Linus did the same thing with LTT, cracked down on his employees numerous times in the past re: wage discussions and other more recent controversies. It's only after they get pressed or exposed that you see they all have the same money-starved outlook and can only operate within the most cynical capitalist mindset, totally incapable of conversational charity. You are employers first and your foremost relation to your workers is that you sign their checks. Everything else is ancillary. Everything.
100% this. And I love H3, Ethan is one of my favorite creators, but I'd be lying to myself if I said his ignorance on this topic hasn't become incredibly tiresome and frustrating over time. It's obvious that Ethan is arguing for his own self interests. I think because he's such a good person he's a great example of a business owner that doesn't treat his workers like shit, so everybody seems happy and he has zero incentive to believe any other system could work well "if done right." He not only has the luxury of ignorance but also the blindness of being a fundamentally good, generous dude working in ways that are against the system's best interest, and since everything around him doesn't just fall apart because of that, he believes that means there's a version of capitalism that could work. It's just insular logic with none of the objective evidence or facts.
Right. He's constantly contradicting himself here. Recognizes that the capitalism we have is failing and that greed is an issue but is unwilling to entertain the idea of government intervention. Meanwhile praising European socialism for how those governments intervene. It's just annoying at this point. I've heard him argue this same point so many times now yet he never remembers any explanation Dan or Hasan have provided to him.
yup, and him saying its human nature to be greedy and evil is so filthy and nasty. Terrifies me what he is teaching his children. He has always lived a life of privilege and he cant say he didnt just because he chose to give everything up and live in a shitty apartment with hila for a few years. He is still so far removed from what real life is like for everyone else.
As someone who only makes $35k a year (with a college degree and student loan debt) it was wild to hear Ethan compare a $1 billionaire to a $100 billionaire. It’s all the same at that point to someone like me. You can get anything you want at that point. I love the pod and watch every week but major props to Dan on this one.
no seriously how do you manage to lose sight of how much 1 BILLION dollars is? that’s millions and millions times what i’ll make in my entire lifetime (w/ ☮️&❤️)
i think ethans point is that taxing the ultra rich brings in almost the same amount of money as taxing the very very rich, and it would have much less pushback (which is what ethan means by his ideas being more logical) healthy political changes happen in steps, you cannot turn ultra capitalist america into communist america without turning it into a social democracy first
I think what he said is fair. Huge entertainers is a huge thing and if they felt threatened they would probably not like it or go for it and it being a corporation versus an entertainer that rised to the top over years monetarily. I just feel like we are more likely to get something going towards that direction if the line was more gradual since we do have a lot of rich and powerful people on this world and what he said about the influence of a single billion to a billionaire or oligarch who can literally sway economies and politics directly is something I can see particularly with what Elon did with Ukraine.
That was his whole point, ordinary people like myself (majoring in physics, but I've learned statistical mathematics a little bit) can't comprehend how rich the ultra rich people are. We're not even mentioning the ones that are so wealthy they can hide it from the public
I love watching Love become obsessed with all the American foods. His faces when he’s talking about it is just so priceless. And him and pregnant Hila getting excited about food reminds me of Kevin and pregnant Pam in the Office

And also there are loads of people trying to get jobs but the process is so wild, and it’s hard when employers don’t communicate with those trying to get the job and don’t tell them they haven’t gotten the job.
its not "insane", its just an overexaggerated version of the objective truth. there have and always will be people who dont want to work, especially since there arent enough enjoyable jobs in the world for every person

Being against something doesn't automatically mean you wanna Louis XVI the damn thing. I would say I disagree with the idea of capitalism because at its core, it's a system of greed and infinite growth on a planet with finite resources. Dan touched on the environmental impact of capitalism but you didn't talk about it enough. It's a system that simply cannot work long term, therefore it is a dysfunctional system. Other systems are flawed too! But being anti-capitalism doesn't mean I agree with those systems either.
“Greed is good” is the most hilariously self reporting justification for capitalism I’ve ever heard. Just because you think “greed is inherent” doesn’t mean we should have a system that encourages it.
In my opinion the biggest problem caused by capilism is that it is a selfsuistaining systeme that doesnt care about our interests. From a biological perspective, the systeme benefits psychopathic character traits. Lets say you are a power hungry narcissistic intellengent dude who feels no remorse taking advantage of others. Than the chances are you will be very successful here. But the systeme itself is highly toxic to our species and to the whole world. People need to feel responsible for their actions, yet they won't if society tells them to live for greed and comfort. But blaiming caplism is also not the solution. Caplism is just an expression of human nature. After all it reolves about manipulating our needs. The average human has to much power and to little brain to handle it. And I can't stress how toxic our behaviour on this planet is to ALL life. No other species is as good as we are in causing other animals and organisms to go extinct. Yeah Id say we are fucked.
@@nostalji93 You are absolutely true. Capitalism is inherently a system where those with narcissistic traits thrive and become successful. @@m8s96 I haven’t said that. I think you’re misunderstanding what most anti capitalists stand for, like Ethan and Hila in this video. Like if you can agree the way capitalism works today is not good then you already have more in common with an anti capitalist than you think.
For Ethan. The problem with social democracies like Sweden is that they still rely on a permanent underclass. Sweden and other European countries rely on the exploitation of the global south. Capitalism depends on a permanent underclass.
Sweden has an advanced economy that supports its quality of life through trade of goods and services. This isnt the 1600s where countries are plundering gold reserves from others. We can all benefit from global trade
I beg of you, read about what the Communist USSR did to Ukraine during the 1920s through 1940s. Capitalism has raised up more people than Communism has, and even more than Communism has killed (which is a lot :) )
With peace and love to Uncle Gabe, I prefer this era of a short stare down. It’s very funny and it’s nice to see that Gabe is okay without Ethan’s intrusive questions
Yes. The focus on the face and the detail show her love. And talent as well. Sam, Hila and Cam blew me away. They are so good. Cam's artisitic and moody skeleton art was fantastic. Reminds me of my grandma (she loved skelletons and was a professional watercolor artist). She said she liked skelletons because they looked like they were always smiling.
I have a love hate relationship with the final segment of the episode. I LOVE that the discussion took place. There is no question in my mind that the way society currently runs just isn't working and needs to be reworked. I HATE how embarrassingly immature Ethan was acting. Regardless of your opinions on the matter, Ethan constantly interrupted Dan and was extremely closed minded towards the whole topic. He spoke hypocritically when saying things like: "I am looking at this with nuance" but would then radicalize Dan's points by saying things like: *facetiously* "Lets eradicate sociopathy and social disorders" (though I get that he was probably trying to make a joke here) All of it just screams out of touch. It was clear through the entire discussion that Ethan was arguing from a place of privilege, emotion, and a severe lack of understanding with an unwillingness to bend. He was just trying to win. Not a good look.
He's behaving like a pouty baby because he doesn't like having the unpopular opinion and being told that, but likes to think he can handle being controversial. Like I love you Ethan but you need to learn to debate without being condescending esp not with Dan the queen
@@Soylentology well you just said he’s level headed all I’m pointing out is that 2 days ago he spewed all the talking points that an authoritarian China spews out to justify their invalid scrutiny of Taiwan. If that’s logic and level headed, the world would be in shambles as China invaded another country and the global economy falls apart in a matter of no time. Not very level headed at all.
Bingo. Ethan will just instantly go on the ridiculous anti capitalist = communist. Almost nobody agrees with that. We live in a system where your money can buy shares of a company where you will then earn a percentage of the profits of that company with only your capital. That makes way less fucking sense than working for a company to have a share in that company that pays you a percentage of the profits. This already exists in the super high positions like ceos ect.
Getting defensive because the chat is feeling like capitalism isn’t the best option and calling everyone “radical communists” because they are hopeful that there’s a possibility of a better way to organize society feels pretty unfair. Hats off to Dan for being so gathered and even. Just because you don’t believe that large scale change is realistic, Ethan, it doesn’t mean that everyone who does is less thoughtful
I mean he just disagrees with you dude. And if you think the entire system of capitalism (used throughout all of europe and america) should not just be checked and balanced in a social democratic way, but entirely upended and changed, you are radical. Just own it.
@@frederikskovdal not what I said. I think the change could be gradual somewhat akin to what Dan was saying. But if your reaction to people saying “we want something better” is to be snappy and defensive and if you think any change is radical it sounds like you’re afraid of change and acting out of fear.
@@uncleboatshoesI think he's just burned out from all the criticism the pod gets on a daily basis. It probably gets to a point where even a mild criticism gets really annoying. A conversation with one person is one thing but if hundreds of people are critiquing you it's a different dynamic. He should probably take a bit of time off twitter and reading the chat.
@@deadams8905 I think you’re totally right. My only issue was with him jumping to conclusion that people were so far away from his opinion and getting defensive. That is probably because he’s so often faced with criticism from folks that are of opposite opinion or from folks who are making a big deal out of nothing. But, to me, people being able to dream of a system that takes care of people and that’s more fair and somehow creates less misery is an important thing to hold onto for many folks.
Dan was 100% based but even if we did shift to a more socialist system it would take half a century for the country and economy to readjust. Like to do this in the United States we’re talking about years and years of work. And it would need to be structured meticulously to work. People say communism is the reason Americans don’t want it, they also don’t want it because they know the amount of work they’ll have to put in.

Listen, I'm sure there are profit-sharing schemes that are viable and it'd be great to see a company implement those measures, but hoping that the government democratises our markets on a large-scale is a pipedream at best. A country like Sweden is WAY better positioned for that kind of legislation, but even they'd be unlikely to board that train. The truth of the matter is, greed is a fundamental part of the humans psyche. It has it's pros and cons. It has the potential to super charge markets that rapidly evolve and generate innovative action faster and more effectively than any other foundational human trait (altruism and good-will has a much lower potential to drive innovation). Greed also has the potential to devastatingly harm society as I'm sure we're both acutely aware. Dan's point of "greed bad" and we should build a society that completely stifles this inherent quality instead of deriving real value from it is short-sighted and frankly boring (at least in relation to market creation and innovation). Where we REALLY need to snuff out greed and select for altruism is within our government institutions. Governance is the nexus of our society's health and civilian prosperity. It's a place where selecting for greed, power, and status within an elected body truly has a corrosive impact on our lives.

“Greed is good” is the most hilariously self reporting justification for capitalism I’ve ever heard. Just because you think “greed is inherent” doesn’t mean we should have a system that encourages it. Violence is arguably “inherent” in humans too, but guess what?

It's disgusting to see people make so much money and waste it on frivolous lawsuits and dumb bits instead of donating it or working towards systematic change for us all with that extra money.
I've heard him argue this same point so many times now yet he never remembers any explanation Dan or Hasan have provided to him.

i think ethans point is that taxing the ultra rich brings in almost the same amount of money as taxing the very very rich, and it would have much less pushback (which is what ethan means by his ideas being more logical)
healthy political changes happen in steps, you cannot turn ultra capitalist america into communist america without turning it into a social democracy first
I think what he said is fair.

Capitalism is infinitely better than any attempt of communism or socialism ever was.
@@kkickks the US is so obsessed with anti-communist propaganda that a lot of people still subconsciously believe calling themselves communist, socialist, or even just anti-capitalist is anti-American. You can hear it in the way Ethan talks about communism- his biggest problem he keeps pointing to is the idea that people are inherently greedy and would abuse the system. which yes, I’m aware capitalism allows for excessive greed and power consolidation, but a lot of people have been taught communism is the worse of two evils. i agree with dan, greedy people should not be rewarded and running the world, they should be held accountable by the good people of society
Yeah, so if they have the power how do you make them accountable? You know the USSRs elite party members were also psychopaths do you?
Ethan’s point, which is correct, is that greed is part of human nature and not exclusive to capitalism. Centrally planned economies, like communism, create an opportunity for the greedy to seize ultimate power. In capitalism it’s at leased diversified and limited due to competition.
@brendanmassie9586 capitalism is literally designed to encourage, reward and forgive greed. How many financial crises have we had in the country just for those responsible to be forgiven and bailed out and left the victims to suffer the consequences

It was just weird at the end cuz like Dan was fine with disagreeing and making his point and accepting that while they agree on the problems they differ on what the solutions are...but its like Ethan just couldnt accept that Dan was "more left" than him or something because everytime they would reach a conclusion Ethan would have to keep pressing his point almost to convince people that hes not a bad guy for having the opinion. Like Ethan would get a glance at the Chat saying "WAN" and "LEthan" and would have to press his point in the exact same way as before to no avail...just became kinda awkward at a certain point cuz it almost felt like Ethan was getting kinda sensitive at the whole idea that rich people existing is unethical given that he is rich. It truly isn't that deep, obviously he wants people to agree with him and is going to justify his viewpoint if they don't. How is that weird

This is the line that people had an issue with, Ethan. That's why chat went bananas.
One could argue violence is “inherent” in humans too, but guess what? We discourage it, because violence is bad. Wow what a concept.
Taking advantage of others is the easiest way through with companies and CEOs amass wealth, which they can do without any issues because they just don't feel remorse the way more empathic people would feel.
From what I can tell, he said that *in response* to chat going bananas. The thing that initially set chat off was him going into detail about why he's a Capitalist. In particular, the parts about people being greedy and motivated by money got a lot of push back.

@@GhostBear402who gives a shit?
it depends on the ethical system... not everyone shares your ethics, its not black and white. ethan thinks a billionaire who isnt *directly* ripping off workers is ethical, because theyre not the immediate cause of the shit they create. its like hiring a CEO for your company, let them do the extreme capitalism and youll look ethical to some
@@Kerttis okay semantics andy, let me rephrase it for you: there is no way to become a billionaire without mass human labor exploitation that expands exponentially with a need for ever-increasing profit margins, which is inevitably sought out through: artificial manipulation of demand for the commodity being sold (see: orange burning in Grapes of Wrath- something Ethan himself has mentioned recently), lowering of wages, employment of workers that aren't protected by the already lacking workplace protections (immigrants that are threatened with deportation or being reported to the authorities if their employer is displeased with their performance), bribing of politicians to violently secure scarce resources and/or cheap/slave labor (see: Dick Cheney having extensive talks with other politicians prior to post 9/11 middle east invasions about his company being utilized to "rebuild" after invasion).

I love when Dan is open about what he thinks. He explained socialism so well.
Ethan and Hila taking it WAY too personal. It’s not about you two, it’s about the millions who struggle and the very few people who keep people struggling.
This right here. They are probably on the side of capitalism basically because it’s the system they got rich in, yet conversely agree on most the merits of socialism.
It’s like seeing your parents flaws but still loving them because they took care of you.
The idea that less people would struggle under socialism or communism than under social democracy is increadibly stupid. Capitalism brings wealth, social democracy spreads that wealth. Communism and socialism are loosly defined systems that have failed when tried and if you want to say that they havent been tried thats not alot better.
@@m8s96you really should try reading a book. There are very successful socialist countries. Cuba has more innovations than the US. They have cures for cancers. They’re socialist. The reason many socialist states failed is because capitalism dominates the entire world, and they put sanctions and fight with violence to eradicate it. The US has violently overturned every democratically elected communist country in the last 100 years. Every single one of them. They fail by force. I hope you’re in middle school or something. Try reading.
@@m8s96 I haven’t said that. I think you’re misunderstanding what most anti capitalists stand for, like Ethan and Hila in this video. Like if you can agree the way capitalism works today is not good then you already have more in common with an anti capitalist than you think.
I love h3 but they are so biased bc they were one of the few who made it. They will always defend capitalism bc they are not like the majority of us.

@@angelg8445 leftist love acting like they started out at leftists. Yah Ethan’s not a socialist, this is known. But again if the world functioned under his political beliefs the material conditions of people would still be so much higher
@@derfgerps4016It would take maybe hundreds of years. Considering we are STILL taking human rights away from people.
Hila slaying her painting in like 10 minutes is the ultimate flex
Edit: Hila took over an hour to paint her masterpiece and my FOOLISH summarization of time has offended the masses. My deepest apologizes to the parasocialites.
I was shook when I saw how good it was.
she was painting for over an hour but yes
@@mrsyuk4133do u allow urself to have fun in life?
@@equitation.equestrian same! and then shook again when Ethan wasn’t phased by it (I’m sure he’s used to it though)
@@montinez11 I know he was peeking but we have really only ever been able to see doodles from her, I didn't know she had that in her.
I could have SWORN just a couple years ago, Ethan said “billionaires shouldn’t exist”. Please someone find that.
I remember that too!
Love Ethan but sometimes I really feel like he’s been disconnected from where he came from
how many people got flashbacks to the old ep where Ethan and Hila praise capitalism and bully Ian and then had to apologize the next episode.
Any idea when this was so I can watch? I've only followed h3 closely the last year or so
i'm actually looking for it now lol i want to rewatch it now. i will update if i find it. As far as i remember the capitalism conversation was almost exactly the same as todays, same debate between Dan and Ethan/Hila. The Ian thing was a bit in the early days where they leaned into the asshole boss/powerless intern dynamic as a joke, but it went a bit too far.@@GhostBear402
Yes I'd the the ep too!
Which ep was that?
h3 podcast ep 178 i believe for all those asking
You can tax Elon’s 250 billion worth by 99% and he would still have 2.5 billion dollars, idk why Ethan thinks that’s such a crazy idea
you cant tax his net worth like that... 90% of his wealth is in assets, its not income. you dont owe tax on the income you earn on an investment until you sell it, which is why realistically you could tax him on like 2-3 billion of income annually
@@Kerttis this is always brought up as a point of difficulty to tax billionaires but it’s just a loophole for billionaires to retain money
Billionaires will take loans against their shares, as a way to go around taxing their expenses used
If billionaires are able to utilize their shares like that for their own expense, then we need to get in another convo on why it’s so easy to circumvent that
Just because the system is set in this way, it doesn’t make it impossible to change
I think he didn’t find it a crazy idea completely but was mainly saying that to tax someone 99% for having a single 1 billion dollars versus 250 billion is not as reasonable and that’s why he listed off entertainers who are worth almost a single billion.
@@alyxskyler yeah totally but let’s say you tax a 1 billionaire 95%, super high right? They would still have 50 million dollars! That’s unfathomable money for most people and I don’t think Ethan gets that
I also understand him wanting to classify Elon Musk and Beyoncé as different stages of being billionaires, and yeah Elon is probably worse, but Ethan is being naïve to say Beyoncé or Taylor swift aren’t also exploiting people while “just having” 1 billion
@@Kerttis Right, so we should just tax the businesses.
the way Ethan admired sam's painting so proudly - it was so wholesome
Reminded me when Michael was proud of Pam’s paintings. So wholesome ❤️❤️❤️
@@niamh864came here to say this!
He truly loved it. Same with Hila and the shirt
@@nhoJeoD77 that’s probably what they’ll do anyways
Ethan doing an “in defense of capitalism” is a truly 44y/o moment
And what are you 12 and broke?
you people live in lala land
sounds like Ethan is more logical and realistic in his old age.
Basically, give Dan a raise.
Comrade Dan should unionize the crew against his capitalist overlord Ethan Klein
Basically, give the crew a percentage of profit share!
With how much almost the entire crew is now essentially part time hosts, they do deserve more than "higher than industry* standard" as they put it.
I’d watch his podcast
Tbh every crew member should be able to afford a house in their mid 30s by this rate. Idk how much is their salary but Ethan should pay up
Can’t wait for Mondays episode to be called “Dan left the show” and have another message from Donna
Dan was all laughs the end of the ep. It was the mentally ill live chatters who are upset
My favorite thing about Dan is that he's such a contrarian, ESPECIALLY with Ethan. His absence would leave a deep deep gap in the show and I hope he feels valued.
True, Dan is the queen
But dan was wrong about everything lmao@@klimentbassev8866
Dan: "Europe has many socialist countries"
Ethan: "Name one lol"
Dan: ................. "idk lol" ..............
Why would he not feel valued. What a weird thing to say
@@cutestronin985 is it?
@@klimentbassev8866 yeah I think he's just being honest about his views and values, but it's not in every workplace that going against your boss is taken lightly. I think it's great that Ethan can handle working with people that say no to him from time to time and challenge him on certain things.
Dan is just so attractive while talking about communism
True, shame he goy destroyed in every point he made.

@@helloMRdj1lol wut. Ethan not even understanding what a democratized workplace would look like or even what communism would look like makes it like arguing with an actual child. Dan is an order of magnitude more well read.
I’m a lesbian and I agree 😂
Hila's painting made me so emotional for a minute, she captured him better than anyone ever could because they're partners. It's really beautiful to see people from their partner/best friend's perspective:,)
Also obsessed with Sam & Cam's paintings:,) I love the art segments so much
Yes, she made him look radiant and beautiful. You can tell she's looked at that face with love a million times ❤

Petition for Dan to host leftovers
I need a full leftovers ep w dan. I love any time he chimes in abt politics
100% He needs more airtime
Real
yeah hasan and dan
Omg that would be everything!
Dan is the QUEEN, can't do nothing wrong!
Ethan: I like to be realistic
Also Ethan: I envision a society in which you can ethically become a billionaire
Dan gets interrupted so much. Like you ask him a question only to cut him off so he can’t answer. Shout out Dan. Can’t do nothin wrong.
Also love bootlicking Ethan and trying to go against dan was so cringe
Yes Ethan and Hila were giving major capitalist owners, petite bourgeois, capitalist bootlicker vibes. Still love them, but that was sad to see.
@@MsLilyPickles He just doesn't take it personally, and he's very smart and eloquent. Dan is the queen.
