The Incredible Stringband combine the brilliant innocence of childhood and the wisdom of age. Their songs have been the best of friends to me for nearly 50 years. Thanks for posting these songs.
yes - you are not alone - especially this song - it's been my personal mantra - not weird and spiritual but a thoroughly practical way of getting through life - be here now!!
These guys are so good, I cannot believe I only fell in love with them a year ago! My husband can't appreciate them the way I do. I guess they require a good listen before the love develops. But when you get the magic you can consider yourself blessed!
ISB are the only band I saw live more times than Pink Floyd. Going to a ISB gig was like going to a big party because the band never isolated themselves from the audience. We had some great times and I well remember one Halloween gig in Bolton in the UK where I was one of the people invited up on stage for apple bobbing. Of course, things never go as planned, especially after indulging in wacky baccy, and I managed to face plant in a tin bathtub full of water and apples. My girlfriend at the time was scarlet, especially as I got a kiss on the cheek from Rose instead on an apple. Great memories!
As a Scot I considered them our local family band although they were always so well and far travelled that they were everyone whose heart stilled listening to them….thats the key to it ….they always divided people….jimi hendrix and Mick Jagger, Led Zepp all rated them highly highly and mentioned them…..theres never been anything like them before or after….never
The Incredible String Band changed the course of my life at a very very crucial time. Their music, style and photos have influenced my life in many different ways. I am forever grateful to Robin WIlliamson, Licorice McKechnie, Rose Simpson and Mike Heron. Thank you.
This song is the epitome of my youth in terms of the music we loved and the hopes we had for peace and love; but ever since it has been a 'buck me up' song and now it is so appropriate in terms of living a good later life and it's... Mindfulness ...each moment is different Thanks for the video Rebecca
I do conferences all over the world for teachers and I open with the first verse and then say "What better gift can you give to a learner than to say ¨WE ARE HERE TOGETHER IN THIS MOMENT AND NOTHING ELSE EXISTS FOR NOW!¨
I first heard a song of theirs while looking at the album cover in a dream. Several days later, at a friend's apartment, he pulls out the very album I had dreamed about! It was Hangman's Beautiful Daughter. That was about 55 years ago. I love these guys!
They're a much tighter band than many folks give them credit for. Their sense of rhythm is also incredible. I love songs like this that can have a bit of melancholy in the message, yet have a lively upbeat. The singing is kind of like BlueGrass with an folk-english twist. I love it!!!
A top favorite song. Also love Painting Box. Saw them at Woodstock, then again in 1970. Met and chatted with Robin in 1987, then had a great phone conversation with him in 2006.
I remember hearing this for the first time on the radio just after it came out. I was astonished that someone could put an underlying truth of life in a song and do it so well.
Thank you for these lovely lmages to accompany this music, and these wonderful people and musicians of a band that was an extraordinary voice for then and now...
I saw them live August 16, 1969, at approximately 6:30 p.m. at Woodstock. They were not included in the movie but I was an ardent follower back then. Their acoustic performance was disfavored by the crowd but we didn't care. Their message was prescient and timeless.
Such wonderful music - it has a timeless innocence to it, reminding me of those remarkably carefree days of youth - especially in the late 60's - what a time we had. And I even got to play live at a gig in Birmingham Town Hall with this amazing band - I played maracas and was a mere 16 starting out in life at the time. This song - and many more of their repetoire still resonate and reverberate within my being - even after all these years. Gratitude
Thanks for posting this to UA-cam! I'd forgotten this track completely and it was one that influenced the direction of my life hugely (and continues to do so). I saw ISB a number of times: in Croydon, at the Royal Festival Hall, at the Royal Albert Hall, and small venue someplace in the UK Midlands. They were a very creative bunch ....
Excellent selection of images to accompany what many would say is one of the most profound songs ever written. Way ahead of its time,Sport got the message about 20 years ago,Business unfortunately still light years away.
This song changed my life and introduced me to L Ron Hubbard who has continued to take it further still. I still have the letter from Licorice and ISB membership card. I just sent this file to the new love of my life. So the song lives on. Thank you Mike and Robin for this timeless gift and for not standing in the way of the song.
One of my favorite songs of all time. Thank you for putting it together with so many wonderful images- you did a beautiful job! I love the way you combined the images from Be Here Now- very appropriate and deeply nostalgic for days of innocence and wonder!
Great stuff! My dad was a fan of ISB, but hadn't any of their music. So I started buying their LPs for him, and was a lover of their whole vibe from the moment I heard them
I heard that Paul McCartney was a fan! I absolutely love this band. I bought "Layers of the Onion" when it first came out. Beautiful album cover by The Fool.
I begin my Drama conferences and Drama workshops with this......Drama is lived at life rate and depends on us ALL being present together in THIS MOMENT! That's why it's sooooooooo good for well-being!
+Rebecca Clark With me its the same: The Incredible String Band changed my life, and this startet about 44 Jears ago when i was 17; They influenced the direction of my life up till today: i take life easier, any time there is space for a joke, just be happy(without a reason), i got all my feelings(happy or sad) and I am proud of them, after i am sad, i know, there is more happiness coming ... these and more ISB told me. And I still got this in me, it become a part of me and it helps me going my way, AllesLiebe, All is Love
Well Rebecca ! If this is your first video why are we waiting for the second ? I think we should be told ! Brilliant. Totally in tune with the band / music Well Done !!!

Great song. My favourite album is Wee Tam! Then The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter (listen to Nightfall outside in the stars). Then either their 1st self-titled or The 1000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion.
So true, Bam! I've never known a band so ethereal and imaginative and yet so incredibly tight and musically skilled. You're right, they always come back to earth! Thank you for your comments.
I can still recall being struck at about 12 / 13 years old by the book “Island” by Aldous Huxley, in which there were Mynah birds flying around, pronouncing, “Here and now, here and now!”. Came across ISB about a year later through my brother who’d known Willie Morrison (who left the band before ISB became well known). Love ISB’s playful, joyful way of expressing deeply spiritual experiences ❤️
The Incredible Stringband combine the brilliant innocence of childhood and the wisdom of age. Their songs have been the best of friends to me for nearly 50 years. Thanks for posting these songs.
Thank you, Charlie! I feel exactly the same way.
and we were there together :-) x
Same...for 50 years...best of friends with their tunes. Saw them live, 1969. Thank you, Rebecca Clark.
Same for me!

Is it 50 years? 50 years ago already??? I was 15 and ISB made life so very beautiful for me, for my friends. Golden years! Thank you, guys, girls...
Me too. 15! My friends for Life!
Simply beautiful ❤
Licorice McKechnie we hold you in our hearts x
A tragic story. I hope and pray she comes back and finds love and comfort.
Hearing Likki makes me cry.
Makes me cry too.@@Leitros-kj4qb
was just listening to this song in the car, on a CD. This band has so many wonderful songs ... tytyty
My legacy.
My mum loved them all her life.
She has gone but the music lives on through me and her…..
This took me back 50+ years to a very wonderful place in my life!!
I haven't heard this is about 50 years and it's still as magical as ever! Thanks for the reminder!!!
This song is the epitome of my youth in terms of the music we loved and the hopes we had for peace and love; but ever since it has been a 'buck me up' song and now it is so appropriate in terms of living a good later life and it's... Mindfulness ...each moment is different
Thanks for the video Rebecca
ThePondbug Fully agree with you Rebecca. This album was played over and over. Remember the song The Letter?
For me too, beautiful beings 🧚♀️❤️🦄🌞beautiful music, beautiful words . Love you guys. ❤️
more than 50 years ago - Mike and Robin and family - Uplifting my world - thoughts so deep - and the melodies marvelous - from Denmark

My life turned better after listen Incredible String Band with my 17, 40 years back. Thanks!!
my first acid trip was listening to this album... i literally cannot hear it the same way ever again
When I first heard this song on the radio, I was astonished - so much wisdom expressed in such a creative way.
Thank you, Rebecca, this is wonderfully well done.
It's like a time machine to me, flash and I'm back to 1971.
I've always loved how Mike makes Rose laugh in the interplay. I saw them do this live at Manchester's Free Trade Hall (now a hotel). Magic.
Finding a lot I missed and the ones I've always loved. A treat.

I agree, Danny!!
The bluegrass reference makes sense... Bluegrass was invented by Scots-Irish..
Favorite memory...seeing them live at the Fillmore East in NYC in '68
To transform from music and lyric this great feeling of spiritual bliss is truly incredible...
This takes me back to the Moment, Wonderful, Thanks xxx
A top favorite song. Also love Painting Box. Saw them at Woodstock, then again in 1970. Met and chatted with Robin in 1987, then had a great phone conversation with him in 2006.

My favorite band ever! Thanks.
Mine, too, Roberto!
literally my whole life
Me too
still got my albums, going to be buried with them
No one can have mine until I'm done.
Delightful.... as ever. Then and now. Pure loving fun.
I remember hearing this for the first time on the radio just after it came out. I was astonished that someone could put an underlying truth of life in a song and do it so well.

Thanks Mike and Robin! RIP Ram Das!
So deceptively simple, so deceptively deep. Wonderful.
Thank you for these lovely lmages to accompany this music, and these wonderful people and musicians of a band that was an extraordinary voice for then and now...
Beauty Full ..Thank you
This took me back a few years. The imagery suits the music wonderfully.

Thank you very much for this memory.

Very nice to see the older and younger Mike and Robin in one video.

Eternity doesn't mean forever. It means now, because it's always now, and will be so unto eternity.
Right on
just now, will tomorrow too, never knows
