This is for another kind of insulation. It works on PVC or other Vinyl based insulation. Some speaker wires are also PVC coated. This type of insulation will not work. If you try to strip polyurethane or polyethylene coating, you might even break the tool permanently.

$50 for [plastic] automatic strippers. At $50 it should be able to take the clothes off a stripper. More simply put my Kleins cost half as much and don’t suck. I’m a Knipex fanboy but they can suck it with this hot garbage.

I´m sure your hammer doesn´t work too well with screws either. Unless it´s made by Klein.

I have the old style Knipex and they have metal jaws. They handle. speaker wire/lamp cord just fine. The molded plastic are the problem. Otherwise they wouldn't worked with added pressure. Good video.

I have never tried using mine on stranded wires with such a thick insulation. I use mine on 12g solid wire to wire in outlets. Could be this tool is just not an all around stripper. I should have some stranded wire laying around the shop. I will give it a try.

Juan Hinojosa when I went to purchase this product I read the description and reviews every post that I read was good reviews but I didn't see any bad reviews so I ended up returning them to HomeDepot 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼✌️

Frankie M. You got me curious now I'm going to try mine on different style and gauges of wire and see how they hold up. Although having the Knipex name it does seem cheaply made.

I was thinking the same thing Juan. I was wondering if it's just using the Knipex name like licensed Snap On products.
I'd also like to see them side by side with others to see if they're from the same maker.

Electricians tool mate. You’re using them on the wrong application

Shiiiit, have you tried sliding that red thing forward? I've got some similar strippers. But not a "pistol" style.
