The Green Bowie International pressings were brilliant ! I could even contest that a couple were even better than the orange label issues !

I don't have a UK6E 4E to compare, just a vinyl rip. Yes, the green international bowies sound great to me, as does the German first pressing.

Yes especially to me the Aladdin sane mastered by Bilbo. Stunning sound. The Ziggy Italian best buy mastered by Mannucci another whopper with the loud cut mix that you don't have in the first uk and many other pressings.

I am lucky enough to have the OG Toshiba-EMI pressing of DSOTM which is my go to version despite having the MoFi CD, Acoustic Sounds SACD and 30th Anniversary pressing. My belief is that the youth of the master used makes the difference. I wore my CDN Harvest pressing out and the vinyl was so poor that the noise increased with every play. My analog college stereo at the time (1972) was worth about $1800 CDN and my hearing was, shall we say, enhanced at the time. I bought a domestic Gaucho when it was released and gradually collected the CD remaster of 2000, SACD from 2003 by Bob Ludwig, the 33.3 180gm Bob Ludwig, the 2023 Geffen digital master LP and the UHQR. To these ears the Ludwig discs are the go to versions. The UHQR is so pristine that it is soulless. Each time my playback system improves the SQ of my collection is reduced in number by the precision of the playback. Everything in college sounded of equal fidelity because of the entry level equipment and, you know, that other thing. If I have a copy of music in any medium that gives me pleasure now I don't seek to better it. I believe that if you find yourself in a rabbit hole---stop digging! BTW I find that Speakers Corner records are always worth the money. However, I got them early before the "revival" happened.

Thanks JIm for your enlighting comments. I didn't splurge for the Gaucho UHQR but I'll give you that. Saves me money. Yes the Ludwigs are great but believe me on the Japanese first pressing. You'd be surprised! Regarding Speakers Corner, yes, they usually deliver. I've got Crime of the Century and Elvis is Back. I'm 60 so, like in your case, I had time to get 1st pressings and boutique label reissues before prices went funny. I weigh in my new purchases much more these days.

@@obre9523 I have no doubt that you are right about the Japanese OG of Gaucho as I have all the rest of the SD catalog except for Aja on those versions. I just need to stop searching for grails and just enjoy what I have. I am 73 and started collecting vinyl when Twist and Shout came out. This hobby has given me immense pleasure over the years and it will continue as will my viewing of your site. Good on you sir.

Hi Vicente. Love these videos. Very informative. Would love your opinion on Genesis Blue label Trespass and Nursery Cryme. I have an early pressing of NC and later Half speed master. (You can guess it's probably my fav Genesis album) but would love your views on this. Many thanks. Keep up the sterling work.

Thanks so much for your kind comments. Nursery Cryme together with Trespass happen to be my favourite Genesis albums as well. My favourite pressing -and I've heard many- is the UK Pink scroll by far and large. It is expensive but the good news is that the first Charisma REPRESS uses the same stampers. Same sound for a fraction of the price. Hope that helps.
