After Jonas Kopp’s well-received debut album ‘Beyond the Hypnosis’, released on Tresor Records in November 2014, the Argentinian returns to the label with a powerful and club-oriented EP, ‘HHH’. Over the past 10 years Kopp has explored and found himself confortable in many genres of music ranging from housey beats to hypnotic techno. This particular release ends itself comfortably in the middle of a dark and dusty dancefloor. ‘Khaa’ opens the EP with a deep pumping bass as schizophrenic chords intermingle with hi-hats to form a stimulating composition full of energy. Conversely, ‘Nahn’ unfolds in parallel structure, cheeky yet with a smoother bassline to ease delivery in a more more melodious way. ‘Hank’ unfurls with a thunderous stomping bass which cracks upon each beat sending you into a frenetic march while sinister atmospheres appear overhead. ‘Sinstro’ yields a whole new ambiance, with fraught chords pattering on the surface, while spatial airy moods climax throughout the piece to stimulate the mind. Finally, the digital bonus track ‘Nekh’ brings the story full circle with a bold opening cut which builds into a cosmic trip. Altogether a feverish EP for peak-time elation.
