Watching you tie Kelly it’s like having a hot stew for dinner after a hard day of work outside. And I’m telling you it’s pretty cold outside right know. Peanut Envy that’s a good choice so far that I’m concern. Even for big speckle trout. Always good to hear materials informations to. Thanks again !!
I am from northern BC, I tie this in size 2 and 4 with plain streamer hooks with a bead head instead of a cone. Every fish in the hole will eat this small articulated fly. Grayling rainbow and had a 7lb bull trout in it this year. I fish it on a sink tip and swing it and small strips to the tip. Unreal fly tied in olive.
Apparently I’m late to the show. Better late than never. Great tie! Already whipped one up. Can’t wait to give it a whirl. Thanks for passing along the expertise. The Snail
Hello Kelly I am enjoying your tying session I am new on your sight and I am also new in tying flies and jigs, I am trying to learn how to tie jigs for salmon and steel head and I am trying to tie rock dancers using the dumbbell eyes I am from Umatilla Oregon
Awesome Kelly (and Jeremy)! I have watched your videos for years, but never asked myself why you didn’t tie your good junk earlier. I really appreciate the time and effort you have put into this year- I have learned a lot. I look forward to my annual trip this summer to see the results of your remodel this year; if I have pictured it right in my head, you worked your ass off!
I don't know how many times over the years that a dubbing loop slips out of the tool while winding it on a hook, nice to know that I am not the only one! I got to tie some up. thou on my home waters, here in the Northeast, I tend to fish smaller flies, while there are some big trout around, most of our fish are in the 8- 18 inch range with 18 considered to be a big fish.
Great video as always. Going to tie a few up to go with the Game Changers I just tied. One question, where I live in BC we can only use one hook so I will be cutting one hook off at the bend. How would this affect the hook sizing and which one would you recommend I cut off for this pattern? Cheers
Mike, Thanks. I always cut the back hook off and don't see any change in the action. Fish attack the head to stun/kill the prey so with the front there you will be fine.Kelly
Nice Tie Kelly... of coarse! I've notice most commercial versions tied seem to be over dressed. I too like mine sparse. We don't have the leeches or forage fish in New Zealand like you have, but this fly still gets the job done for me. I Love it in a Brown/ Orange version I tie. Also for Q & A- maybe streamer flyboxes? Your fav, pro's and cons? All the best. Cheers.
tied this in brown and tan i fish back water in eastern NC water like tea have caught striper weak and the big surprise killing the flounder thank u for a great fly
Sorry for askin' what might be a couple dumb questions..but here goes: Having been an avid tier for years, and now returning to it after a long break in the action...I'd like to know when rubber/silicone leg material began being used in this way on streamer flies. Did Kelly popularize this? Do these strands have a tendency to foul around the hook(s)? If not, is this most likely due to the palmered hackle? Thanks in advance for splainin'.
I will be tying this soon for sure! I am just getting into tying, so I have a question: What is the functional difference between a dubbing body and a chenille body?
I find that chenille bodies are more bulky and rigid and that dubbed bodies can be customized to your preference depending on the type of dubbing used and the density of material. Chenille bodies can be useful for keeping stacks of other materials posted so that they don’t collapse and maintain a profile, whereas dubbing bodies are useful for creating a more blended effect. If you get into dubbing loops there are really endless possibilities as you can even get into dubbing brush territory where you’re mixing materials and customizing tapers.
Curious - what is the spring/strap thing on your vise? Also, you say "don't put this in your mouth" about a lot of things - but it looks like that is exactly what you do - even the wirer and bead, noy just the maribou… I don't see you if you even have a wet sponge on your bench.
You know your talking about those minners popping all over the surface and I get a piece of memory of a day fishing the outflow of the hydro electric site on the Paulinskill river in NJ. The inside pool was covered with a swarm of tiny black caddis hovering about 3 to 4” above the water. Very uncannily maintaining a uniform 4” thick mat. All the while a school of smallies hammering them. Frustrating part of it I couldn’t get a second look at all the stuff I was offering. Just the kind of thing you don’t want to tell anyone about. Then there was the time my son and I saw a 36” lm in a pond in North Jersey. But I ain’t going there for now.
Kelly, what kind of c-clamp do you use to hold your vise? It seems that it extends out from the table, which gives you a direct over the eye view of the fly your tying.
Perfect! So now I am only missing the recipe´s for the other color variants. As we say in Norway "Much want more" (some might be lost in translation :-) But maybe that is a lot of work....
Someone needs to make a shirt with Kelly’s face saying “I wanna show you something.”
Another Great fly tutorial. I know this will be a real fish catcher! Thanks Kelly for all you do.
Smashing pattern and another great video guys. I’ve picked up so many great tips from watching this channel. Hands down one of the best

I like the way it looks I'll be tying up some thanks Kelly
Fantastic lesson... I learned a lot on material selection, placement locking down the legs, tapering the body in the dubbing loop.

Thanks for sharing the wisdom and tricks at the vise, great ty.

great tutorial guys ,what would be the total length of the streamer be about.?
Garry Sneddon the one I bought from them was about 4 inches long
Anyway, your show is great, thanks.
What size bead
Love your work and style. Do you know about George Constanza’s fiancé ?
What’s the difference between this and the double screamer? I cannot find a tutorial video for a double screamer.
Kelly, what kind of c-clamp do you use to hold your vise? It seems that it extends out from the table, which gives you a direct over the eye view of the fly your tying.
It is not a C clamp it is one i had made the goes under the table and is screwed n permenant, thanks for watching. KG
Kelly do you tie different sizes of this pattern
Greg,
Yes we do and we have a mini peanut envy series available on our online store. You can certainly tie it much larger as well. Thanks for watching
“Just for... [pause] ... giggles”. 😂
lol=tight lines!
One of the best streamer patterns there is for trout and bass in Michigan.
Perfect! So now I am only missing the recipe´s for the other color variants. As we say in Norway "Much want more" (some might be lost in translation :-) But maybe that is a lot of work....
All the Peanut Envy tying kits are located here with all the colors available.

Would love to see a fly tying video of the heisenberg
I keep the culls to use on damsel flies and other lake patterns. hate to waste material.
What kind of bobbin is this ?
That is the Rite Mag Bobbin: www.slideinn.com/product/rite-mag-bobbin/
Tyler, it is a Rite magnum. Kelly
Thanks!!!
Kelly Galloup what colors are ideal for this pattern? I tied olive and black patterns thus far.
Can this outperform a wolly-bugger?
I have envy for the envy.
The brown and tan is made for the upper Manistee, chestnut lamprey money
I really like how the name is a play on the phrase "penis envy," a feeling I am very familiar with.
