    Nice video. Cut to 90% and boil. Love it.

    Great video. Two comments: I found that reducing by 10% made the work too hard, so I reduced by 5% and that worked fine. Also, to prevent distortion around the first rivet hole, I dipped the fist 1/2 inch in cold water for 5 seconds before installing it.

    Took 3 tries. But it did it! Would love to change the color on my ancient brown chairs, but whew... That's hard work. This guy made it look so easy. Maybe with practice.... Thank u!!

    Great video but my rivets became too soft in the boiling water and did not hold. Had to redo 8 straps. Maybe rivets were too cheaply made

    I have a Hillcrest set of patio furniture with vinyl straps, but no rivets/holes. Instead, there are slots in the frame for the vinyl ends. The ends of the straps have a kind of arrowhead pattern to fit into the frame. Not sure how to proceed

    Existing straps fell off my furniture. So I put them in boiling water, but I’m having a hard time getting them back on. It took both me and my husband to pull hard enough to secure one strap. You made it look so easy in the video. Any advice?

      Be sure to work fast once you remove from hot water- they start to cool fast. If no luck -just increase your strap length.

    Where do we buy the strapping and rivets?

  • @patrickp1119

    I have a real old set of patio chairs with the vinyl straps inserted in deep slots. I do not want to change the installation. Do you have a video showing what cut to make to ensure the deep slot can still be used without rivets?

    • @sunnilandpatio2441
      @sunnilandpatio2441 3 місяці тому

      Sorry- we have never had success trying to make straps to fit slots. Trust us- it will be a lot less time consuming and secure by drilling the holes and using rivets.

    Hi, do you have an instructional video for replacing single wrap using e-clips?

    Does it work if you lay the straps in the sun for a half hour?

    • @sunnilandpatio2441
      @sunnilandpatio2441 4 роки тому +1

      Not really, gotta boil them a bit. Hope your project went well!

    Hi! Does it matter if the original vinyl was single or double-wrapped? My chairs are double-wrapped and I'm curious if there's any reason they shouldn't be single-wrapped instead.

    • @sunnilandpatio2441
      @sunnilandpatio2441 3 місяці тому

      Double wrapping is more secure. Many have still converted to single wrap for ease of installation. Double wrap is definitely more effort. If single wrapping the holes should be made 3/4 around the frames - making them across from each other so they grip as much of the frame as possible.

    So how do you replace the straps if the rivets aren't plastic? Mine seems to be welded into the frame and is made of metal. Maybe do all your steps but slip the strap over the rivot?

    • @sunnilandpatio2441
      @sunnilandpatio2441 Рік тому

      Yes- the holes in the straps can slip over the metal when heated.

  • @boorhadly

    where can you find different colors and widths of the straps? mine are 1.75" and all i see online are 2", 1.5" and 2.5"

    • @sunnilandpatio2441
      @sunnilandpatio2441 Рік тому

      When a 2” strap is heated and stretched- it will measure 1.75” - sounds like you need 2”
