Best Cuban link chain I've seen!
Hi Huss, I've watched a heck of a lot of videos on Cuban link chains and the tightness of your links make all other videos look like amateurs, not to mention the very stylish clasp.
Thank you for sharing! Very much appreciated!

If you stick a screwdriver in the other end link you can pull and twist that at the same time and you get a lot more leverage trying to twist until the solder joints are all in one side...

Wow, not only is yours the most descriptive video ive seen (I mean you're the only one who tells us what diameter rod is needed!!) But your technique is so much more professional and loving towards the art itself! I mean the 3 link solder method just screams durability to me!! This is a chain that will never break! Thanks for the inspiration

Dont Twist And Bend Each Area Of The Chain Individually
Just Keep Twisting Chain The Chain Will Straighten Itself Out If You Just Keep Twisting

To straighten the big chain, have you tried hanging it from the ceiling and hanging a bunch of weight from it while twisting with a big bar? Seems like it would be much easier to apply tension and twist that way.

I finally found the clue of my question that I was looking for on a lot of video’s of people making chain bracelets.
But I still got a question ; I never see anybody filing or sanding the chains after soldering right before twisting it. So I wondered … I see it’s not necessary in your video so I assume that you have to use a little as possible of “solder” to fill the gap and on what position you want to have the soldered seams?
    Thanks and loved your video!

@@MadeByHuss well after spending some time in contemplation about your technique. I think after annealing the round stock which is something i do all the time and following up with your techniques without polishing. And then reheating up to critical temperature and quenching then tempering and finally polishing. Hopefully this will work i.d.k. yet as far as the twist goes if worse case ill have to do so hot instead of cold forging. Anyway beautiful work and thanks for the advice and wisdom.

You said the wire was 3mm thick, but how long was it. Im always curious how you figure out the length of wire you will need for the length of bracelet plus clasp. Love your videos cheers

Randy Murray ok I do it by the weight and I started with about 100grams of silver I never know how much I’m going to need so I make extra then solder together what you need

After you file the 1st side you showed yourself removing the shellack, Don't you have to flip the chain and shellack it again so you can file the other side or do you only file one side of the chain?

How would you make a huge braclet like 21mm wide links? Or 21mm chains im intrested in huge statement pieces and would love to be a silversmith

    • @MadeByHuss
      @MadeByHuss  5 років тому

That's a big difference much harder to bend I'm sure you will need a device to bend it one I don't have or another way is to cast each link and link them together

@@MadeByHuss my silversmith with many years of experience said he uses a screw driver to twist and turn the links and need to constantly heat up the chain. Very pain staking he said.

Sanjeev Basi yes I know very stressful the chain needs to be pulled very hard when turning the links some have a device to do this I don’t have one may be if you get some else to pulled it all so I think oval think are better for that you can try a sample like 3-4 inches just to try out and keep your links tight not to much gap best of luck
