Firebirds have become my favorite guitars, I currently have 2 Epiphones, the Olive Drab Green, and the Vintage Burst. I spent about 4 hours fine-tuning the frets on each guitar, it makes a world of difference and is a satisfying process, it gives me an excuse to buy more tools, I have an entire toolbox of just luthier tools now.
All of my Firebirds have Epiphone pickups. I do have the Explorer with the Gibson pickups, it is my most expensive guitar so far. Well worth it too, I love the pickups in this guitar too.
My guitar teacher back in '68 let me play his Firebird. I've always wanted one, but I'm an acoustic player, so I don't really need one. My inner child just wants a Firebird to hold and stroke it.
Wow, Epiphone should pay you a fortune, you're really selling those Firebirds to us! What an incredible tone that Firebird 1 had with the amp's trem. Fab review!
I own an Epi FB1 in Heather poly, and am really happy with it. If they (Gibson,) put out a 1 in Cardinal red, I'm all over it. One thing that most people don't know is, if you are buying either a high end American-made Custom Shop Firebird, or an import version, the Kluson banjo tuners on both are made in Korea. Fact.
i just noticed firebird headstock actually looks like a head of bird, like eagle kind of birds,so thats why they put banjo tuner on just keep the clean bird head shape?
Are the pots on these new Epi Firebirds good enough (quality wise) to subtly turn the tone knobs down some? They’re really great sounding pickups, but can be a little harsh sometimes...
The Ruby Red version went almost unnoticed when released, probably because all the upscale models were coming out almost simultaneously. I don't need a third Firebird but I might get the $699 Ruby Red version for a little more variety.
I've already seen them , you know they're Epiphone but ....I have a Epiphone... they look pretty nice and I know if you get into the groove then you can make it happen..... There was a Gibson Firebird in the special room but I think it was right around 2500. To me there was only a little differences overall , one was a new guitar and the other one was a vintage old
It doesn’t matter how high the quality is, they’re essentially licensed Chibsons with Gibson warranties. It’s very disturbing to see the USA standard Gibson Firebirds discontinued and replaced by Chinese Epiphones. Gibson now only manufactures expensive custom shop Firebirds. I wonder how long they’ll keep manufacturing any standard USA models? Will they discontinue all Gibson Les Pauls except the custom shop models? Gibson seems headed towards the Levi jeans marketing model. Make nearly all products overseas wherever labor is the cheapest and offer a few products made in the USA at exorbitant prices. Levi’s no longer seems like an American brand. It’s just a vintage logo used for marketing purposes. I’d hate to see Gibson end up the same way.
You make it sound good. I bought the Firebird V and found the pickups very shrill to my ears. Tried it with several amps, but really had to compensate with the tone. Loved the look and feel of the guitar, but the sound, for the price, just wasn’t for me…. Returned it.
That is sad to hear. I love the tone of my Firebird pickups, I play a lot of distortion and overdrive, but I do love them on a clean channel with some reverb.
Firebirds just are super bright and yes they do take some getting used to - that said if you check out Johnny Winter rundowns he was running into a pair of Musicman combo with the bass and mid off anf treble on 10 hahaha - I think he tended to use the neck pickup though.

Man that intro was just gold, great jam over a very cool track.
Shout out to John for helping 'That Pedal Show' put a board together for Warren's interview. Great episode. 😎🤓
Inspiring playing on a couple of beauties! Great demo.
Perfect Firebird demonstration! Great licks!
Another great video from John. Love your playing style man.
Thanks for posting.
Great playing John as always, both guitars look & sound excellent!👍🎶👏

I could see a Firebird I in my future. Nice review!
yeah baby! that techno blues in the intro... I love that waterfall lick at 6:42. Great clean playing John!

Good on ya JB! Thanks for the Epiphone love PG!
Epiphone is making amazing guitars. I love mine.
Did Epi expand the line? Not seeing the black headstock with color trim..love that look. Or the sun burst as an option.
Love the red one, I need that!!! 🔥🎶👌🏻
Sounds great!John is such a good player.

Will probably never own one, but that classic dark burst T Bird has always looked cool as hell to me.
very good firebird revew, by the what song are you playing from 5:50?
i just noticed firebird headstock actually looks like a head of bird, like eagle kind of birds,so thats why they put banjo tuner on just keep the clean bird head shape?
Exactly
Ok who has one in the finish you’re playing? . All I found was Red and Blue.
Great playing!
Sold! Time to get out the slide.🇦🇺👍
Ol Bohlinger 🙂
very cool 'moonlight' man...

What was the backing track you played over in the begining of the video.
I just through together some loops on Logic and improv, hoping for the best.
@@johnbohlinger it's definitely a cool groove.
So are these like mid range inspired by gibson or is this the more expensive and custom shop appointments with inspired by gibson custom?
the later ... prices are Firebird I - $1,299 // Firebird V - $1,699
Groovy

Most handsome guy on the tube 😉
OhNo, now I've got another guitar to buy. If I can only convince my wife of the importance of it! 😅
What😂 this why I am staying single
Great
man do either of these have as hard a time staying in tune as the other epiphone birds? i've been quite disappointed as far as that goes
Beauties for sure! But why no lefties again Epiphone?
So all you have to do is change the truss rod cover to make it look like a Gibson?

I have 1 Firebird. But I gotta tell ya, at $1700 for a made in PRC Firebird, that's not likely to happen. 8( --gary
Ya gotta support the new Boss of the west or else.......
Why? You will be able to sell it in a couple of years for $600- $700.
Billy Bob Thornton.
I can’t find that Firebird 1 in red anywhere😂 little help please? 🙏
same here …wtf🤣

I hate the banjo tuners or I’d by the one pickup
They look naked without the tailpiece on it
They look awesome, but u have to be a lumber jack to play one.
John's a hard guy not to like.
Knob color is wrong.....
Good playing on the opening but, damn, that backing track sucks
