So... This just popped back up on my recommended & reminded me that it's been SIX YEARS since I started silks! I'd wanted to do it since I was a kid but I've never been very athletic (in fact, the exact opposite) and was completely convinced it was way, way beyond my ability. It was you guys making THIS VIDEO that gave me the confidence I needed to actually do it and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm the strongest & fittest I've ever been (which isn't saying much, lol), I've done things I never thought I'd be able to do, and made some lifelong friends along the way. Thankyou for being hilarious and real and showing me I didn't need to be amazing to start - I just needed to start!
I was doing this in classes for a few weeks this summer ( had to quit due to personal issues) and after each class your feet, hands, thighs, and back are bruised like crazy

Ashley Rule lol your skin starts to toughen after a little bit just make sure you get a teacher that understands that when it started to hurt you need a break. After each class we always were able to just be in a cocoon like position in the silks to relax. It's mostly the vertical vines that hurt.

I have been doing aerials for almost 6 years now and at first you do get bruised and sore, but you get tougher skin and you get more flexible after awhile of practice. it's also really fun and people get so scared even though if you are doing it correctly nothing bad would happen. (my profile picture is 3 years old, and I'm on the silk in the picture)

No, definitely not a tree! Rigging from trees has the potential to be super dangerous (drops put a lot more force on the rigging than you'd expect). The silks are hanging from a metal frame made specifically for aerial rigging. You can see the legs of the frame on the edges of most shots.

Hey, I was wanting to by one of these rope things, anyone know how they set that up and where they got it
as for as I know you either have to train somewhere or have a professional come install them
You should probably know they are called silks before you buy one.... and you need to take classes from a professional before you can just go out and buy one for at home. There are some safer and better ways of getting into another trick. Like in the straddle back they did(the one when they went upside down) they used a kind of cheater way to get into it. They can be dangerous if you do something wrong.

I thinkvit depends on the frame the silks is holding because in my circus warehouse I have 650kg and 4.5 tonne weight baring. So I couldnt do a bullet on a 650kg weight barer

Generally the weakest link in an aerial set up is the human body, which can only take 1800 lbs of force before a person will black out and bleed internally. The fabric is a close second, most will take a catastrophic tear at about 2000lbs of force.
