Glad you started covering this one. It's definitely my game of the year for last 2022. For some reason or other, I found this one to be more conducive to soloing than Nevsky.
Looking forward to your play-through. I have this on my table at the moment. Haven't watched your video through yet and will have to finish it later today but just in case you're not aware, there is significant errata for scenario F (and others) focused on re-balancing things in favour of the Muslims. Very easy to implement though.
I liked Nevsky but the map was very confined. This looks more open. Ill be watching your playthrough to see if this is a more interesting campaign than Nevsky.
Transportation is easier in this volume, the focus is more on the different political situations the various taifas are under, and garrisons are meaner too.
I would say Almoravid does feel more open, which to me meant for a more immersive campaign experience. In a way I could better imagine the Christian armies setting off over the mountain passes with their mules and carts loaded to campaign in the plains of the Taifa's. The distances (geographically similar to Nevsky) felt better represented by the larger map. Of course there is a tradeoff to be had with playing space!
Very excited for this. The system is imperfect but lives rent free in my head- really love any discourse on it.

thanks - wasn't aware.
I really want this, I missed Nevsky, but I’m not sure how interested I am in the topic this time.
Looking forward to the playthrough.
Am assuming the first five games of the series will be auto buys for me. 😅

@@66morningview The geography this game covers is over double the actual area covered in Nevksy - but agreed I prefer the larger size and openness
