    Summicron is clearly the best here, where as both Summarit and Voigtlander color skopar have their strengths and flaws, so of course the Voigtlander is a wonderful alternativ to both perhaps, and even more to the Summarit.
    The compactness, and relatively cheap price make it very nice option to go with for sure.
    Also nice to consider for film - Leicas I think !
    All in all it depends what you want to shoot and the way you shoot , there are of course so many more options to choose from in the 50 range, so it all comes to the personal preferences I guess.
    But for sure a very nice little lens which is still very well to handle I guess ( also quite important aspect ! )

    Thanks for the video! I bought the silver version, and, I agree, it's aesthetically beautiful on both my silver M10-R and black M10M. The vignetting is strong wide open but, at least till they get a profile for it in Lightroom, the one for the Voigltander 50mm LTM f2.5 Color Skopar seems to correct everything well. I have the Leica 50mm APO Summicron-M and it's my favorite lens, but this will probably be the one that's on the camera the most here forward just because the form factor is so great and it's still incredibly sharp.

    you have fallen into the rabbit hole of pixel peeping (not that that has not happened to me too). no normal viewer of your pictures will ever say that one is better than the other. it's the entire package people either like or don't like. the bokeh, sharpness in the corners, etc. just for us camera nuts.

    • @JimmyCheng
      @JimmyCheng  27 днів тому

      well in reality I actually never pixel peep and always go with my own preference mostly for build and handling (which I emphasize quite a few times in my videos). So it's really strictly for testing purposes. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the review.

    Thanks a lot Jimmy for reviewing this lens one of the first here on YT :)
    After seeing your test and results I will consider getting the Color Skopar and sell my 50mm Summicron, simply because I also have the 50mm 1.4 Summilux (previous version). The Lux is the best lens I ever own, but as an everyday carry it's a bit heavy (in the Leica M world) and somehow I have to decide which Leica glas I keep to free up some cash :D. This 50mm Voigtländer really looks like an amazing everyday carry lens and I'm curious how it will look and perform on my M3.
    Looking forward for upcoming videos from you!

    Well-done! Having the optically-current version of Summicron-M 50mm lens, there is no compelling reason for me to acquire this new Color Skopar, but, it is good to see that it exists, for those who will find use for it. I am happy with the compactness of the Summicron, and, do not feel a need for a focusing tab, when using a 50mm lens. I am among those who agree with Leica’s continued production of the Summicron, with Dr. Walter Mander’s original 1979 optical element element formula. 🙂

    Hello Jimmy! I was wondering what is the type of Focal length you feel more comfortable with? and why? Is there also a particular focal length that you like so much but can't have great results when you use it? And what would be the focal length that could help you to grow as a photographer? Maybe you could make a video about those topics in the future? Thank you love your video!

      @@Via_Negativa22 good idea! I should really do something like this once I’m done with the lenses I wanna review. I used to be a 35mm shooter, but now I’m more leaning towards 50+28. 28 is pretty demanding when it comes to framing so I think it’s a good focal length to help you grow as a photographer.
