“I’m retiring to spend more time to be a father”... yeah okay Logic, if you’re so eager to spend time with your own kid why are you wasting time reviewing your own album? I give this decision a light 4.
Hey, ik I sound annoying af, but I'm 15 from India and I make music sometimes, and I would really appreciate some feedback and tips on how to get better 😄
But seriously, retiring on a high note is really nice to see. I didn’t think he’d come back from the last few projects and for him to make his last album one of his best makes me happy and I’m glad it turned out well.
Better to go out with a few duds and be remembered for trying your best than continuing when you're out of good ideas, I feel. Plus, the best part about retiring early is that you got your whole life ahead of you to try new things. I'm happy for him!
AJ but Logic is 50/50 Black and White, and Yes you can identify with certain races, certain people who may be a quarter black but mostly Native American may identify with their Black sides due to sometimes having a distant ancestor genetics that just happens to appear, although it is true that person is still Native American despite their looks, since their genetic makeup is mostly Native American, people usually acknowledge that they have more of one said race than the other, even the U.S Census have racial classifications People May choose,I’m not saying you can pick and choose your race but you can identify with more or less of certain genetics

Swear, Melon was spittin on this one. Yo bro, would you mind checking out my new song on my channel, i think i have potential and I just want people to give it a try
Joe Budden said Logics music sounds like gentrification... I highly doubt he even listened to this album thanks fantano for giving this a fair and honest review
That demo tape he left in on A2Z , was supposedly the first thing he ever physically recorded to tape. Basically just an homage to his beginnings. Wasn’t all that bad either.
I think also it’s supposed to contrast with the song itself, and be an homage to the title - where he was when he started rapping (a) to where he is now (z)
@@poopoopeepee5655 I used to really like it when i was in high school when it dropped but as the years have gone on its pretty mediocre to me. I prefer the vibe of No Pressure, although i will say UP is pretty nostalgic

6:15 this is the most accurate thing I've ever heard about Logic. As a fan from about the time Under Pressure came out to now, he's had is ups and downs. But he's still a character and a person you just can't help but root for. Dude is just doing his thing, having fun, and living a great life.
I agree. J cole needs to stop with the fake woke/ try hard albums. It’s just not his thing and he should stick to what he does best. We need more of FHD, it’s his best work to date. He truly is a 6/10
I like how you credited logic on his G key rhyme at 5:15. He said he studied tbat rhyme to make it perfect and only real music enthusiasts will understand why its so good
Ryan Schabert i agree i would probably give this album a 5 though because i Think it is somewhat enjoyable, but theres nothing new and revolutionary about it. Its pretty much just him showing a lot of homage to his favorite artists by using samples they have used before or hooks that that Sound like something they would make which i respect

Do the Logic joke... Yo would you mind checking out my song on channel? I think i have potential and i just need people to say. I appreciate harsh honesty, just in case you decide you will listen.
Open Mic was recorded with an older classic Mic that I believe Jay Z used back in the day. Could be wrong about who used it. But that's why the mic sounds so different and muffled. I really like the gritty sound it gets especially with how it's supposed to be him at an Open Mic. Super cool. Also, love how the tone of the Mic's contrast between that section and the Aquarius III part.
Hey, ik I sound annoying af, but I'm 15 from India and I make music sometimes, and I would really appreciate some feedback and tips on how to get better 😄
I think this is Logic's greatest ALBUM to date. It takes the best of all his mixtape, album, singles and his entire discography and mostly succeeds thematically delivering a muted message of his past albums that seems to hit more than the past albums where he was more preachy. The messages from his past albums appear on this album but for brief cameos like a slight nod to his past. It's a very personal album for Logic reflecting on how far he came and how he sort of never found happiness or success from anywhere but within and looking forward to continue doing what makes him happy in the future, part of which is being a better father than his father was to him. Also the album has the most consistent best production and variety of sounds and mostly gels with a sort of aesthetic that carries through MOST of the album with a few standouts that divert from the Logic sound like the heavy nod to Kanye on the song titled after Ye's songs Heard Em Say and the darker themed track simply titled Dark Place. The production on Heard Em Say is amazing combing with the catchy echoing gospel-esque background vocals repeating the title of the song with the punchy beat of the pass and the wood block knock of the percussion overall sounding like an even further nod to the production of 808s and heartbreak though the song itself doesn't have nearly as depressing or heartbroken of a message of "808s". Personally I love the Alan Watts bits Logic splices into his albums. As an avid fan of the talks of Alan Watts and many in the philosophical camp of Terence McKenna, Tim Leary, Ram Dass, etc these Watts segments are the "greatest hits" boiled down to Watts most quotable bits. Some may see these Alan Watts bits as Cheesy but to me I find as I've grown older there is a lot of truth in cliche sayings about life and philosophy. Alan Watts was one of many I listened to during my 20s and times when I was trying to come to terms with existence and what it means to be alive and to exist. Ultimately for me the meaning of life is what you make it and to find out for yourself which is the answer no one wants to hear because its so simple and complex at the same time but no one can really tell you the purpose of your life. I say all that to say that Logic seems to have boiled down his own years of battles of self discovery, coming to terms with his identity, and becoming more confident in who he is as a person. He is able to express those sentiments over the top notch production on this album without dwindling too long. Those existential bits are laced throughout the project but not as much crammed down your throat. The album takes it back to the fun of hip hop as well as many of the punch lines and songs are just having fun with wordplay and the (again) amazing production from NO ID. It feels like this project is a nice bowtie and endcap on a chapter of Logic's life and a spark notes to his career as a rapper, a memoir of his life, and a motivational cliffhanger that has Logic mostly optimistic about his future and finding some place of comfort in uncertain times. The uncertain times of the world in 2020 but also the uncertain times we all live in and that Logic was likely especially keyed into with the neurosis of his past and struggle to find acceptance from everything and everyone around him until he really really found it within himself and not only spoke on it through this album but spoke with conviction. I think Logic will continue rapping in the future but in any case this is a perfect stop point for Logic. If he ever does decide to come back to rap he will have left on a high note. I give this album a solid 9/10.
Who tf are you and why would you think I would give you the time of day to read that. Even if you had a million subscribers and a checkmark I wouldnt read that. Too long. Write more concisely please.
Thought it was really cool that at the beginning of Soul Food II he starts off saying “conversations with people” rather than “conversations with legends” like he did in Soul Foo D because he is now one of them.
“Conversations with people, crazy how legends forget that they equal” I think this is a self reflection by logic especially seeing this was his “retirement” album. Dope line
“I’m retiring to spend more time to be a father”... yeah okay Logic, if you’re so eager to spend time with your own kid why are you wasting time reviewing your own album? I give this decision a light 4.

That demo tape he left in on A2Z , was supposedly the first thing he ever physically recorded to tape. Basically just an homage to his beginnings. Wasn’t all that bad either.

anthony nice review, but averaging his last three albums and giving his career a 2.33/10 was unnecessary
