- Stonebwoy ist ein international erfolgreicher Musiker aus Ghana. Seine Wurzeln liegen im Rap, mittlerweile ist er vor allem als Reggae- und Dancehall-Künstler bekannt.
Stonebwoy alias Livingstone Etse Satekla ist einer der bekanntesten Reggae- und Dancehall-Künstler aus Ghana. Geboren in Ashaiman, unweit von Accra, beginnt er bereits als Kind, Musik zu machen.
Ab seiner High School-Zeit tritt er als Rapper unter dem Namen Stonebwoy auf. Bei einem beliebten ghanaischen Rap-Wettbewerb setzt er sich gegen mehrere andere Rapper durch und erreicht so eine gewisse Szene-Popularität.
Seine Rap-Battles und sein Musikstil erregen die Aufmerksamkeit des ghanaischen Dancehall-Stars Samini, der Stonebwoy bei seinem Plattenlabel Samini Music unter Vertrag nimmt. Dort erscheint Stonebwoys erste Hitsingle "Climax" mit Samini, kurz darauf der Track "Ghetto Love" mit Irene Logan.
2012 veröffentlicht er sein Debütalbum "Grade 1 Album" auf seinem eigenen Label Burniton Music Group. Stonebwoy singt oft in jamaikanischem Patois (Patwa oder Patwah) und wird aufgrund seiner verschiedenen Musikstile meist als "vielseitiger Rapper" bezeichnet.
Sein zweites Album "Necessary Evil" erhält drei Ghana Music Awards bei 6 Nominierungen. Bei den Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2015 wird er zum Künstler des Jahres gekürt.
Auch international ist Stonebwoy erfolgreich: Seine Alben sind immer wieder weit oben in den Reggae Billboard Charts, und mehrere seiner Kollaborationen wurden für Grammys nominiert.
