@@madpleasure I remember there was a vote on Run BTS asking ARMYs what song they want to hear live and they were all surprised Louder than Bombs was so high, it might have been number one?
The Black swan event is not being able to dance anymore which is a dancers "first death" the pain of not being able to do what you love anymore can be a catastrophe. as a dancer I dread the day when I'll have to stop
Their Official MV has the eng subs already. You just need to click the CC button. Most BTS Official MVs have Eng Subs. As long as they don't say "Auto-Generated" they should be correct.
The Black Swan art film mv (which were released prior to this mv) which feature the orchestral instrumentation provided the context to this song. BTS does not appear in the mv n everyone were scratching their heads trying to figure out who did which parts because of the use of autotune. But in actual performances, they do not use autotune and their real voices shone through.
The best thing about this song is how the beat is basically a heart beat changing frequency over and over again, likes its not beating like it should do
'A dancer dies twice, once when they can no longer dance, and this first death is the more painful.’ - Martha Graham. While you have the gist of what they are singing about, it is based on the above quote.
Black Swan comes in the “shadow” part of the Map of the Soul concept. This is a psychological philosophy by Carl Jung. The persona - the outside part of ourselves that we show the world. The shadow - the part of ourselves that we try to bury. The worry, the temptation, etc. The ego - the conscious mind, memories etc All of which we need to equally embrace to reach individuation or self-actualization. Here the black swan event is the moment when music doesn’t mean the same to bts. It’s their fear. It’s their shadow.
RM said in his live stream about the album that he cried while writing 3 of the songs in their album MOTS:7 and black swan was one of them. The others are Louder than bombs and We are bulletproof: the eternal. Hope you can react to them as well.
5:55 you’re correct, it was a hard song to write.. RM (the leader, and THE songwriter of our generation) said he cried a lot while writing it, as well as a lot of the songs on the album this is on
I think you'll find that they're all very expressive in their own ways. A couple of them through dance or performance. Some of them more through their voices. This song's choreo was more contemporary so Jimin was a great choice to bring out the emotion there as it's his specific forte. But BTS has been known since the beginning (2013) and the group that delivers sincerity through their music and performances. I'm sure you'll recognize that as you move further into their discography.
Thank you for deciding to take your time diving into bts because I do really think it’s hard to try to look past their popularity to see why they’re as great as they are. Not to say it isn’t easy, but just that the numbers and the fans and all that does tend to influence a bias. I would’ve had your same approach. I’ve been fortunate to have been following them since they started, but I do think I’d be able to identify what sets them apart from the rest. They’re such great guys and such good artists. 💖
I had to come back to this video after they announced about their break in their music. This song I heard for the first time but did not understand the lyrics till I saw your video. And this just makes so much sense.
i really love it here. you're an intellectual. the way you easily grasp the messages of bts songs is outstanding. many miss out on the first try. 💜 more power! bts write songs based on their life journey, that's why it's personal and relatable. that's why their albums are thematic. it's nice to experience the message entirely by listening to the b-side tracks and how the track list goes as well. ☺️
Part of Jimin's style comes from his martial arts background. I've always assumed he started martial arts before dance, but I don't know for sure. He has a black belt in Taekwondo, and studied Kendo for 8 years. The explosive moves, flexibility and power, sharp isolations, and mental focus, I think were all trained up in the martial arts work. His personal ethos, too, seems to have been influenced by Taekwondo. But before all that, I think he's a proprioception genius. He's also a storyteller, with both his movements and voice. Also, he's very receptive to other people's humanity. That kind of receptiveness seems to be part of every moment of his life that I've seen. He's not afraid of others' emotions or souls. Here is behind-scenes footage for Jimin's part in this MV. ua-cam.com/video/xMfp2jcK52M/v-deo.html Ericka Goss, a ballerina who is also a longtime Army, does breakdowns of choreography. Talking about Jimin recently, she said, and I'm paraphrasing, that one of the things that he does that is pretty unique is he will move fast and then stop hard, move fast and then stop hard. She said it is exhausting, that it takes more energy to stop momentum than it does to execute the move. She did a breakdown of the behind-scenes footage that I've linked to above. ua-cam.com/video/QN-yrLk-weg/v-deo.html
Black Swan is what BTS fear they will become when they no longer love music or feel anything for music. Music has always been their passion and when tht passion is lost, what drives them is no longer there, it feels like you died. Beautiful!

We all dread the day when things will stop. When normalities cease to exist and actions that spark unexplainable contentment can no longer be done. It is scary, and yet inevitable. Death can defined in a thousand different ways. My last breath will not be my end, but rather my epilogue. The day I must give into the cruel twist of time and relinquish to it all that I love will be my first.
Man I am binge watching your reaction videos to BTS and your outlook on their music is so well put together. You have a genuine love towards music and I respect that so much. BTS music is so deep and their attention to details is amazing. They are a 100% authentic and talented musicians, dancers, singers and performers. They are complete arrists💜💜
You were spot on!!! This song is about artistic burnout and their fear of falling out of love with their craft and music. It is influenced by the quote "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.” This track is in the Map of the Soul album which is based on Carl Jung's psychological theory of human personas; humans have three personas namely the one they hide from the world, the one they show to the world and the ego which balances them out. As this song is about their fears, it relates to the persona which they hide from the world. The entire album is a masterpiece and explores each of these personas on different tracks.
Of all the BTS songs, this holds the deepest meaning and spot in my heart. Leaving my last job, which had been defining and empowering time for me, was immeasurably painful. I would play Black Swan every day to calm my anxieties. It was the reminder that this my "first death" but life would come back. Months later I'm in a healthier, happier work environment and this song took on a new meaning. Thanks for reacting to it and giving it such a level of respect that it literally almost made me cry 💜
Bro I appreciate your true desire to know them for who they really are and not be lazy to stick to the hype, you'll love them even more ! Black Swan is so deep, it's a masterpiece
there was a time in 2018 when they were so terrified of, and overwhelmed by, their success that they almost disbanded. everyone knows they went through hard times at the beginning of their career but it didn't end just because they got big. BTS has never hidden the highs and lows from their fans.

just binged through all you BTS reactions (as well as a few other songs I find interesting) - I really like your thoughts! I’m glad you see the artistry in their music and videos. Hope to see more BTS reactions from you sooner rather than later :)
The first death line always got to me because for many people with their talents or their careers or doing what they love their "first death" in life is when that feeling of passion for what they do is gone. BTS has such a passion for music and I think this song really does explain how much they love what they do and how if it was ever taken away from them they would feel as if they are dying which is so powerful
you mentioned something about ballerina with the the hand movements and yes you were right !!!! jimin took ballet and you were absolutely right !! that dance was jimin
I’m enjoying your reactions and feel like you decipher the meaning and intent very well. Also, I love the way you speak. Finally a channel with some serious intelligence involved! It’s refreshing. 💜

ooh bts!! this song is in my opinion the best bts song and it’s insanely beautiful and deep. whenever you have time, i suggest you watch the art film. it gives such great artistic depth to the song and just makes it that much more of a masterpiece. the instrumental is also orchestral so it’s definitely worth the listen.
Jimin used to do mostly interpretive and ballet dancing before he became a part of BTS so they took ballet lessons and decided to incorporate some of that style in this.
When I listened to your intro to this reaction, I actually agreed with you. I just recently followed BTS but I'm taking my time studying their lyrics, cinematography, choreography. This pulled me down the BTS vortex but I love my pace. Not joining the hype of those jumping into the boat just because. 💜
Idk how u r sooo incredibly genius and full of knowledge..The way u interpret their music u have to have knowledge of things..for me always finding the meaning of songs isn’t easy just because i can't always tell the depth of the lyrics..but how u've been understanding those things in ur reaction videos It's truly awesome...
More than autotune they layer the voices a lot and then they use reverse. You can hear the slight echo in their voices that’s why it sounds like subtle autotune.
I may be a little late in seein this video but I just wanted to say that this song, when RM was making this, it was one of the few songs that made him cry while he was in the process of making it. And I think that speaks so much of how they really value their music and their song. (They went through some tough times privately in 2017-2018)
They launched a fully funded global art exhibition together with the song. I think there were tough situation and almost disband back in 2016 and If I’m not mistaken RM said he got his inspiration in music from other form of art and the purpose of launching the exhibition and made it free is to share with the fans their passion and to help other artists there were African, European, South American and Asian artists involve with the project
The Shadow contains all those things that isn't acceptable and you try to repress, this fear of Martha Graham's "first death" lingers in the background and in this video they dive into their shadows to face these fears and rejected parts of self. Everyone has moments of creative block, and we have to work through them in order to continue to function and perform, especially to create.
To appreciate them as individuals you should watch Who is BTS? The seven members of Bangtan. It talks a little bit about each of their personal struggles as well as a little bit about each of their personal strengths, and gives you an idea of where they are coming from. The black swan event they talk about here is their greatest fear, that the day will come that they will stop loving what they are doing, performing and making music.
Wow, you're the first person besides me who knew what a black swan event. I first came across the term when I used to read Scientific American. A black swan event can be good, too. I confirmed with a Google search, which gave this as the top result "A negative Black Swan is one where the downside of the event is unbounded while the upside is capped. Positive Black Swans are just the opposite - those unpredictable, highly impactful events where the upside of the event is unlimited while the downside is capped." I figured this was a Namjoon, and other BTS members', inside joke, that BTS are a Black Swan event. That aligns with their effect on me. I wrote the above before I listened to your reaction. So happy to have found your channel, because you get it right away. They commissioned an art film MV, which is choreographic and danced by a contemporary company, not BTS, for this track. Since you pick up on symbolism so exquisitely and quickly, I recommend it to you. It was released before this MV.
In BTS live performance of Fake Love MMA 2018 and No More Dream with dance break MOTS ONE the camera shows Jimin showing him hitting every beat as he dances.
Great reaction! You just get it! Some of my other recommendations: Idol, Mic Drop, Baepsae, Silverspoon, Whalien 52, Ddeang, Cypher series (1-4), Outro: Tear. Bonus: Spring Day explained will blow your mind!
Best way to learn them individually is solos yes, but bts run episodes. Ive watched all episodes 4 times now since last summer. 🤣🤦♀️ they are my favorite hobby.
You can watch the making of Jimins Black Swan solo. Yes at point they thought about disbanding. Hence this song. Them being afraid of losing their passion. BLOOD SWEAT AND TESRS is the video that goes with this one. It's about choices. By the way you didn't notice the shadows not moving with them

I saw Aerosmith at Wembley stadium years ago Stephen has amazing stage presence. 🎉😊
Appreciated your reaction!!
Omg finally I was waiting for this reaction!!!
I love your reaction...

I was the first, say hi to Brazil, I love your videos
You are a very intellectual person and have had my attention🤩☺️
Wow, you're the first person besides me who knew what a black swan event. I first came across the term when I used to read Scientific American. A black swan event can be good, too. I confirmed with a Google search, which gave this as the top result
"A negative Black Swan is one where the downside of the event is unbounded while the upside is capped. Positive Black Swans are just the opposite - those unpredictable, highly impactful events where the upside of the event is unlimited while the downside is capped."
I figured this was a Namjoon, and other BTS members', inside joke, that BTS are a Black Swan event.
Nice
In BTS live performance of Fake Love MMA 2018 and No More Dream with dance break MOTS ONE the camera shows Jimin showing him hitting every beat as he dances.
Great reaction! You just get it! Some of my other recommendations:
Idol, Mic Drop, Baepsae, Silverspoon, Whalien 52, Ddeang, Cypher series (1-4), Outro: Tear.
Bonus: Spring Day explained will blow your mind!
Best way to learn them individually is solos yes, but bts run episodes. Ive watched all episodes 4 times now since last summer. 🤣🤦♀️ they are my favorite hobby.
Your voice is so nice :)
Thank you so much ❤
Thank you 💕 for reaction BTS again. From J-ARMY 🇯🇵
Loved it, subbed!!
