    Grind your crumble to a powder so they can eat more. Use kitchen shelf liner not newspapers so you prevent splay leg

      I've also seen suggested to use puppy pads, shop towels, or paper towels for more grip with disposability at a lower price

    Thanks for the video, I knew quail matured fast but didn't know what to visibly expect from the in between of a day to a month. I was getting worried that my own 5 day old quails weren't growing fast enough, because they still look just like when they were 2 days old, but now I know I shouldn't b expecting to see any sprouting feathers for at least another few days. Made me feel a bit relieved haha

    I hatched some quail eggs from the supermarket, and they started laying eggs at week 6!

      Yep, they grow super fast; at 1 month old they're fully grown and a couple of weeks later the females start laying eggs.

    How are they so calm being handled 👀 mine panic every time I hold them even after 2 weeks 😭

      Probably depends where you get them from. Some breeders will have selected for calmer birds.

    How long until you no longer need the heat lamp and they can be moved to an outdoor pen? We are in Phoenix, days are currently in the 90's, evenings in the 70's, can't put the lamp in the barn so seeking a timeline for no lamp and move safely to an outdoor pen. We have two orphans now 1 weeks old, set up in a brooder in our bathroom.

      You can usually remove the lamp after two weeks unless it's really cold, in that case I leave it on for one more week just to be sure. After removing the lamp I move them in a colder area of the house like a garage for one week so they can start getting used to colder temperatures and then I move them outside.

      @@Kps117A Perfect, thank you! No it's not cold here and that room has no vents, so it stays warm typically. Appreciate your response

    What kind of food do you feed them?

    • @Kps117A
      @Kps117A  4 роки тому +3

      Turkey feed, quails need more proteins in their food compared to chickens.

    Not enough people keep quail
    The egg’s are in high demand.
    Once “l saw them” “in the supermarket” then they didn’t have ‘them ever again.
