Holy Mary was not only not inclined to sin, but all inclined to God, as we are to be in order to give fruit of Salvation. She is the resting arms of our humanity, as it should be The Church
We love you guys! The venue looked a lot like Hanover NH where you taped a load of episodes between summer retreats but the bling is definitely Father Joseph Anthony's (the Wahoo logo and bobblehead). We highly recommend all listeners attend a Godsplaining Retreat! We even ponied up dough to defray the costs for others to attend. Finally, just finished Father Pine's Prudence book and am on page 82 of Fathers Jacob B and Patrick M.'s work on St Dominic. You guys rock!
Great theory but not necessary for salvation -- ""While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you. He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” - Matthew 12:46-50
The idea that Mary HAD to be immaculately conceived in order preserve Christ's humanity is a popular folk-argument, but it doesn't work. If that were true, we would have a problem of infinite regress. How would Mary receive her stainless nature? Well... I suppose Mary's mother had to be immaculate too, and her grandmother, and great grandmother, going all the way back to Eve. But that would be absurd, so the argument doesn't work. I was surprised to see men of your learning repeating this argument (that Mary was immaculate by necessity). The Church does not say that Mary HAD to be immaculately conceived. She says that it was a gratuitous gift given to Mary to make her a fitting mother. But if God wanted to, He could have had Jesus born to a sinful woman. It is within God's power.
@@carolynkimberly4021 : Yes... He could have been. The omnipotent God, the creator of worlds, can do anything He wants. If He had so chosen, the Father could have had the Son born of a sinful woman.
@@carolynkimberly4021 Show me where the Church actually teaches that Mary HAD to be immaculate for the sake of the preservation of Jesus' human nature. Cite a magisterial source and I will change my tune. But for now, all I see is a person denying the omnipotence of God.
As a Protestant, I found this conversation UNinformative. You ASSUMED that all your listeners knew the background, and the different explanations around the Immaculate Conception of the BVM. Assuming, for argument's sake, that this actually happened. I am no wiser now than I was before the podcast. Sorry; it would help enormously if you defined your terms. Thanks
If you search around Pints with Aquinas Fr Gregory has done a lot of work and explanations in there as well. Those are longer form discussions so there’s more time to deep dive in there. There’s also a ton over at the Thomistic Institute, as well

4:40 minutes: Immaculate conception!!! Get into it, Dominicans🤓
I love the fact that Mary reveled herself to Bernadette of Lourdes as"I am the Immaculate Conception '.

Excellent take on Mary, the New Eve.

No. Her Divine Son could not be born of a woman opposed to the divine will

@@actsapologist1991 No. It would have been against his Divine nature.

Dear Dominican Friars. I think we need you to chime in here.
People, just remember this dogma is NOT salvific and not necessarily for your salvation OR to impede the unification of the church.
It is a dogma intrinsically related to the central dogma of the Incarnation. It is salvific. Are you a Prot?
@@carolynkimberly4021 I don't care who added it, less then God-literally, not gospel... its most definitely not salvific.
@@carolynkimberly4021 it bothers me that you think that anything outside of the gospels saves you.... this is why no catholic evangelizes.

As a Prot, why are you here? Go listen to some Pastor Bob.
