Honestly this is such great content. More in depth stuff from a tournament that’s happening right now! It is a highly favored tournament for all players on tour so this is pretty cool to see. Beautiful shots on the Bublik form even though we all hate him right now for taking out Murray 😭
Bruh as someone from socal desert I can tell you. Indian wells is set during the good months. If it was anytime during June-Sept humidity and the heat would destroy the players lol
I wish pros had to play in that type of heat. As a consumer, I want to see pro athletes push themselves to the brink of injury and death for my pleasure.
@@MarkSansait that'd definitely be interesting to watch cuz even those of us who grew in this weather can barely stand it. I could barely stand it in soccer and I definitely hate it in tennis lol
My best friend is a retried teacher and a linesman. I've followed him all over (getting comp tickets) to LA, Cincinnatti, Miami and New Haven many times each, Long Island, Mahwah, Schenectady, Binghamton, Newport (several times) Indianapolis, the US Open every year until Covid.....and a private match between Courier and Sampras in a hangar on Long Island.....Sampras pays his rent-a-plane bill by doing the match for free.....actually, I have to pay for the Open (except once he got me tickets from a friend) but the others were all comps...I did this for 25 years. Once I drove down from NE Connecticut with a wealthy tennis friend (former banker) who had private courtside seats at the Open. It must have been about 110 degrees and I was melting, but I couldn't complain because I had courtside seats at the Open for free! The guy was an amateur singer of showtunes...he had a nice voice and would put on little performances around the area. When we arrive at the Open, first day...everything all shiny, clean and waiting to go, he turned and looked at me, and said, "Joe, it's Brigadoon!", which is a funny comment most of you won't get. Brigadoon was a hit musical in the 50s or 60s, about a magical land that existed once every 100 years, but only for one year....the Open, and really all big tournaments, are like that. They are relatively dull places that come to life once a year for that magical time when the ATP and WTA show up...Everything is clean and shiny, the food vendors are stocked an ready to go.....all the many attendants are dressed up in their uniforms.....and all the beautiful tennis fans show up...tennis fans tend to be intelligent, well-behaved, interesting people...rowdyism, or even arguing, is basically, unheard of. Great place to meet people.....
I road tripped down in 2019 for 3 days and the best vacation I have ever been on! enjoy mark! I agree the proximity to pros and being able to see the nuances in pros is so underrated.
I was there yesterday! Saw Nick Kyrgios at the practice court and he was talking to the crowds and trying to entertain us during the practice session. Fantastic experience!
Glad you got to enjoy tennis paradise Mark! I was out there Sunday and may go back for some semi-finals later this week. We’re definitely spoiled with the nice tennis-friendly weather 11/12 months.
I've always wanted to see the "behind the scenes" on the bigger tennis tournaments. Much appreciated! Do you plan on attending the Cincinnati 1000 Tournament this year?
Werd. Indian Wells & Cincinnati are goated tournaments. I feel like players like it more than the US Open. Honestly US Open being in Flushing, NY (where I grew up at) is not such a great location & gets real crowded & congested quickly when it comes to transportation. I was there for the NY Open which is in Nassau, NY which is more spacious & outside the city area. Sadly they had to cancel the whole thing altogether bc the pandemic ruined them economically. 😢
@@MarkSansait it’s pretty sad. I even have a NY Open t-shirt from the time I was there to commemorate a time before “they will never financially recover from this”
Another tip, at the smaller courts, know where the players enter, that's where they'll also exit and they walk the grounds to the locker room amongst the people. Great for the kids who want an autograph or if you want that selfie with a player. Saw Diego, sabalenka, monfils, halep, all up close. Can't say enough about the practice courts, but this is best during the first few days since everyone's still there. Probably won't see the super stars like Rafa on the grounds tho. That would get too crazy.
I was down there monday - thurs. Friday is when the big crowds start for the weekend. I usually stay on the practice courts mon and tues, and wed- thurs stadium courts 3-5 where you can sit down low with the grounds pass. Really great weather this year. Keep up the great content. Unfortunately this is the only pro tourney to see atp players in California, so I try to make the 7 hour drive every year if I can.
Too bad we didn't run into you! Indian Wells is a blast! The practice courts and the smaller stadiums are so much fun, because you are able to get so close.
Agreed. I like to watch as many matches in stadiums 7, 8, and 9 as I can. It was weird that stadium 8 was used just as a practice court - no main draw matches. Stadium 2 is good as well.
Thanks for posting. My husband and I do Cincy every August. Our 50th bdays are coming up, and we are between Indian Wells and Miami for a getaway. This helps!

Nice bumping into you bro! Looks like you had a packed day there but I'd definitely go back to visit again too. Who was your favorite player you watched though 👀
It’s a two-week tournament but men’s singles matches are best of 3. That makes it less rigorous than a G.S. Why do people then suggest it could be the 5th G.S.?
Mark, nice to meet you at the TW demo court. I have some good video of you hitting. I'll share it with you for let's say a set of strings?😀. You can use it for this video.🤝

I love playing under the lights in the heat. Yes it is hot but you don't have the sun baking you. Early morning before 10 am is nice too.

Wow, I've never seen an "on the grounds" type of video of Indian Wells. It definitely rivals the US Open in terms of how big the event is.
I havent been to the US Open...
yet
@@MarkSansait it's the only one I've ever been to. Attending all of them in person is on my bucket list!
Yep, the practice courts are great. I saw Nadal practicing with Tsitsipas, Tiafoe, Medvedev, Rublev practicing with Karatsev, Halep, Berrettini
6:03 behind you on the right of the screen is Michael Russel and Lily Russel! I spoke to Lily when she was in Melbourne earlier this year

Have attended 11 of these tourneys. Sacramento to Palm Springs in 2.5 hours in my plane. 11 hour drive!
I want to attend every year
Great job!!!! I’m attending for the first time tomorrow and this is helpful
I saw Federico Delbonis shopping at the nearby Big 5 today. I said hello. Looks like he is out of the tournament in singles and doubles.
lol I know you caught a solid buzz with that sake 😅
Excellent review, thanks Mark! Sounds like this in one of your favorite pro tournament venues you've ever been to?
TBH just Western and Southern
Came for Indian Wells, left with some info about mountains lol
you know what else is a mountain?
Dominic Thiem's @$$
I’ve been there a couple times and this is a nice summary of the experience. Well done.

Cold and windy especially cold in the night time! Get a puffer jacket or heavy hoodie to wear until the end of the tournament! Cold, cold, cold!🥶
