  • Professor Clare Griffiths has tracked the way the Tolpuddle Story has been told.
They didn't die for their cause.
    They didn't organise a strike.
Many others had been transported, imprisoned and even killed for taking on the bosses.
So why did the TUC choose to remember the Story of six farm workers from Tolpuddle?

Following a run of performances in Dorchester in June 2024, a revival of the play "Six Men of Dorset" will be performed on the Friday evening (19th July) of the 2024 Tolpuddle Festival.
Although it wont quite have the resonance of the Dorchester performances - 1st half in the Corn Exchange, 2nd half in the restored Court-house where the trial actually took place - it will include the local cast & musicians of the New Hardy Players. It starts at 6pm on Friday 19th July in the Solidarity Tent, and is a performance you wont want to miss!
