I wish I could take the accuracy of the new videos with the direct to point analysis of the old videos with it being deliberate and not making comparisons to other things.
I saw that it could break in Breath of the Wild and wanted to shoot myself. In Skyward Sword they even animated a health bar for the Hylian Shield, and it''s physically impossible to make it go down.
I'd love to see a reanimation of this and some other older death battles. Not changing the results, just reanimation the fight with their newer better animation styles.
It’ll be hard though, this fights animation may not be as precise, but damn does it make up for it in dynamics & music. The movements even look original to the games such as Link’s lock-on & Clouds sword swings
Ian Jensen tell that to the Spider-Man vs Batman battle. There was no bias there. If it was all about popularity, than Batman should win in every Deathbattle.
I love the fact the ff fanboys are still crying about this LMAO don’t get me wrong I love ff but link is at another powerlevel at least put link up against sora lol
@@averyritz Link does not have full arsenal if you ever played LoZ you can tell this is only like 5%-10% of his arsenal throughout the whole series. It's just the most common gear given to Link.
Ok you guys can defend link all you want but the thing is he still had more than cloud did, and you are saying what if this or that by combining every version of link from every game. They gave cloud his best limit break and turned it trash, level one equipment, no summons, items. I just felt that if you played final fantasy as well or atleast would try to stop defending link (I understand why with my statement talking about his full arsenal) and just look at the opposite side for a moment that you would see that the battle was in links favor
@@lordkresnik2873 don’t forget Hero of the Sky/Skyward Sword Link. Who is not only the first Link in the timeline, but he is also right handed as well.
Fanboyism: A disease that causes a person nerd rage when his favorite character loses even when the facts are presented in a statistical and empirical manner. Signs and Symptoms: The complete inability to debate in peaceful manner, usually the victim will resort to personal attacks or become a keyboard warrior in order to feel as if he has the upper hand, the inability to think critically, ignoring the facts when they are right in front of you. Causes: Scientist are still doing heavy research into this new phenomena, but they have found that one of the main contributing factors is the medium referred to as "the internet."
This battle still upsets me. You gave link all his endgame gear, but you gave cloud his starting weapon? Didn't give him the ultima materia either. And while you did give him a ribbon, you ignored it in the fight as the boomerang STUNNED him despite boomstick specifically saying it protects him from stuns. Good job deathbattle.
The battle is strictly for entertainment purposes. The people who make the videos don't so the math nor the verdict. The point is the people who make the video only know the winner and how they fight, the rest is up to them.
@@DiamondEpsilon because cloud was always stronger.. the hoed cloud in this match up BADLY. Like. Deadass. Base level on gear? Man's died to a beam when he survived TO A UNIVERSAL DESTROYING ATTACK.??? Cloud wasn't supposed to lose in the first place and they reworte their wrong with the rematch.
Navi would be what starts the fight. She would be hovering around, saying 'Hey! Listen!' and pointing out the obvious, until Cloud just cant take anymore, so he cuts her in twain. Link then retaliates because, though she is an annoying twat, she is his annoying twat.
@@bromicorn Z targeting is a game mechanic. The most that can be said that Navi does, is point things out to Link, most of which are blatantly obvious things.
Well, for once, Link shouldn't beat Cloud. There's a lot of faulty data here that when corrected favors Cloud to the point of absurdity. Secondly, even if we assume he can for the sake of the argument...what has THAT to do with Zelda against Peach? Zelda is pretty damn weak in most of the games, exhibiting only powerful evil sealing magic, which is useless against Peach. And to top it off, Peach is monstrously more competent and capable as a fighter than you could probably believe.
Camera work here is my favorite in all the death battles. Animation isn’t half bad either. Models are a bit stiff, but it really feels like the characters are operating under the rules of their games.
Even though this is really enjoyable to watch and Link probably would win, it just kinda annoys me how it seems like he relies waaay too much on his items while Cloud just needs a sword to kick ass.
***** I don't really see how Cloud could lose this one if they give him all of his abilities (minus summons of course) I mean barrier spells, elemental spells, first strike materia, counter materia, enemy skill materia which includes, but is not limited to a DEATH spell that kills an opponent instantly and a death sentence spell that kills the opponent in a minute. Also, shouldn't he be using his Advent Children Sword since that's the one that is custom built for him? There are just so many things I can question here.
DevilHunter1994 I thought the Death Spell can be resisted or at the very least 44% Accuracy, even with Level 3 or 5, as Link doesn't revolve around leveling up
Brandon Tunnel Still, it can be cast several times with enough MP. It's bound to work eventually, plus with all of Cloud's other abilities I really can't see him losing this fight. Then there's also items to consider. I mean he's got Potions, Ethers, Elixers, X potions, High Potions. Link has a few potions and milk bottles too, but he can't hold as much as Cloud.
Teague Mitchell The thing with Link though is that there is multiple Links. There is only one Cloud. The only Link that would have the Fierce Deity mask would be the Majora's Mask/Ocarina of time. Also, considering that Cloud would have to give up summons, I'm pretty sure link would have to give up the God Mask.
+belmontzar Are you kidding!? First, what's the point in doing this with 1 fighter at full strength, and the other with a ribbon and his weakest sword!??? And even then Cloud would still tear Link apart! He cuts through sky scrapers! But Link was able to deflect Cloud's Omnislash like a boring insult!?? I've played, completed and enjoyed both games, but the power exhibited by Link in any of these games compared to Clouds, would be like pitting a little green Pitbull against a planet shredding Dragon!
Please choose one iteration of Link. You're giving Link the benefit of having the skills of all past and future Links. If you were to choose the best combat Link, it would probably be TP or MM Link, as TP Link has proper training, and MM Link has experience. Still, neither have the pegasus boots, and only MM Link has ice arrows, while TP Link has the clawshot. And then MM Link would need Navi or Tatl to Z-Target, which violates the "no outside help" rule. MM Link does not have as good combat as TP Link, as TP Link was trained by MM Link, making TP Link the obvious better choice for the Death Battle. As for Cloud, if we're going with Post-AC Cloud, he would probably be using the First Tsurugi/Fusion Blade, since he retired the Buster Sword at Aerith's church as respect to both Aerith and Zack. Since he is using the fusion sword, his Omnislash would be very different, as he can split the sword mid-Omnislash. Since Death Battle has redid Superman VS. Goku, how about redoing this one?
tan(90 The Problem with having a character with multiple carnations is that people will complain that it's not fair that they used multiple sources from multiple carnation. If that was the case, Batman, Spiderman, Superman, Spawn, All the Ninja Turtles, Wonder Woman, Rouge.. Basically every Video Game and Comic Book character would have to pick one incarnation, which would leave the fight heavily handicap. So Death Battle Comprised all fair Resources into one. Z Targeting was Link's own doing in multiple games without Navi or a Fairy, He doesn't need anyones Help from Wind Waker or Twilight Princess, Skyward sword is implying that he can do it without Fi's Help, Fi only gives info but doesn't help. The fight consisted Of Iconic Weapons, if they were to give Cloud's Strongest Weapon, Link would get the same treatment.
Well look at it this way, Both Link and Cloud have defeated many similar foes before and have faced and conquered the final boss. But look how they got there in the first place. Cloud had a team backing him up during his travels, not all of his victories have been his doing alone, it mostly stem from being in a team, Link on the other hand is usually on his own or doing all the battling solo against impossible foes any normal man would be killed by. Now I'm not saying Cloud hasn't faced anything inferior, but they have faced many similar foes, it's just that when you look at the gameplay, Link is usually on his own, meaning his victories stem from his quick thinking, He's an explorer by trait, must look around his environment for solving puzzles, Link has to adapt quickly when fighting different opponents or bosses, Cloud's Main means of striking are magic and Brute Force, something Link has faced before. Some can make the argument that Cloud would have either have had a more difficult time finishing his quest or dead if it weren't for his friends.
I appreciate how you explained it to me and I agree with you, Link is definitely a skilled swordsman and probably could defeat Cloud, especially if he went Fierce Diety. However, it is worth noting that Cloud doesn't just win through brute strength, he's proven time and time again that he wins with sheer willpower. He was designed to fight, formerly trained by the military, and has survived things that would normally kill Link (Falling from the sector plate into Aerith's church, getting impaled in the chest, etc.) Also, on another note, Link's gauntlets don't allow his hands to withstand more pressure, they just allow him to lift heavier objects. Why? Link does not gain any defensive perks after receiving the golden gauntlets. So then how does he lift it? Magic, probably. After all, they do have a little Gem on the back of the hand. And even then, why is it that he still has trouble with carrying the biggoron sword and the megaton hammer? Just some points to ponder...
I don't think that's really anything to go on. Of the 3 existing Death Battles (Samus/Boba, Mario/Sonic, Goku/Superman) rematches, both Samus/Boba and Mario/Sonic have the same "This battle is outdated" even though Samus V Boba had the same outcome the second time. Goku V Superman, however, was not changed.
+ShinyRayquaza9 Thus pointing out that Cloud Strife should one day return to Death Battle and be set against Dart Feld from The Legend of Dragoon, both have a legitimate rivalry and have a lot in common for different reasons.
Zack Kelley Yep. I'm also confused as to why they are basing his capabilites on the spinoff fighting game and not the RPG he came from. I mean seriously if you factor in all of the stuff he can do with Materia then his move set becomes far more versatile. They said using materia hurts the planet, but if the materia already exists then there's no point in not using it. It would only be bad if they continued to make more of it.
DevilHunter1994 Hell, throw in all the stuff Cloud can do with just items and it gets even more ludicrous, especially if one assumes Cloud has maxed out everything. There are a very large number of spells and effects that can be duplicated with the various items you can get. Some of the items, like the items that can duplicate fire and lightning magic, can be bought from npcs.
Eli Wiseman Either way no matter which side you're on, I think we can all agree that this was not in any way a good representation of how this fight would go down.
Cloud beat Sephiroth. SEPHIROTH. You know? The guy who destroyed the solar system in a matter of seconds? From 3-4 galaxies away? But's it's okay. Link's arsenal of exploration-suited items and lack of personal skill is so much better than Cloud's ability to KILL DEMI GODS. Naturally, Link is given his best weapon, and Cloud is given his basic starting weapon. If cloud is restricted to starting weapons, why does Link get the Master Sword? He should have a Wooden Sword or Basic Longsword. Nerf Cloud as many times as you want, but you have to compensate with just as many restrictions on Link. It's unfair. Arguably Link can turn into a Goron, but then Cloud has beaten things way stronger, tougher and is far faster than a Goron. Link can turn into his Furry State too, but what good is a dog against Ultima magic? There is no way for Cloud to underestimate Link with his ability to sense he strength of any opponent. Cloud can steal the possessions of his opponent in mid-combat, and would instantly nullify either Bombs or the Boomerang of Link. Sure, both were restricted from summons and outside help, but Link has the advantage of actually still being able to use his full arsenal. Were are Cloud's grenades? Potions? ANY OTHER MATERIA? This episode of Death Battle was presented to you by EA Games. Challenge Everyth- IT'S OUR SHOW WE CAN RIG IT HOWEVER WE WANT.
DragonTroopBeta1 Except you forgot the fact that it was Cloud's entire party and not just Cloud who defeated Sephiroth. Link defeated Majora by himself, who could throw the Moon onto Earth. They were going with iconic weaponry. In nearly every cross-over Cloud is in, he is depicted with the Buster Sword. Whether it be Dissidia, Kingdom Hearts, or Erhgeiz. On the other hand, Link is always seen as the swordsman with the Hylian Shield and the Master Sword. Cloud is an RPG character where he is completely customizable, we aren't going to go off your save file. Link wouldn't need Goron Link. Link can just repel Cloud's attacks with his shield and stab him when the opening is there. Are you forgetting Link is the smarter fighter? Sorry, but Sqaure Enix doesn't see Cloud as a magic user, this is why they give him only 2 Materia in Dissidia, while giving others much more, and him not using Materia at all in Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus. What Cloud is, is a sword swinging super soldier just like in Advent Children.
"Cloud beat Sephiroth. SEPHIROTH. You know? The guy who destroyed the solar system in a matter of seconds? From 3-4 galaxies away?" ...with a gravity-elemental attack that doesn't even kill anyone in the party? There are much more threatening attacks in the game that aren't even close to solar system-busting. "Naturally, Link is given his best weapon" No, he wasn't. There are more powerful swords for him to use. "...and Cloud is given his basic starting weapon. If cloud is restricted to starting weapons, why does Link get the Master Sword? He should have a Wooden Sword or Basic Longsword." It depends on what Link you want to use. "Nerf Cloud as many times as you want, but you have to compensate with just as many restrictions on Link. It's unfair." Not really. Link was given more items because he is more dependent on his inventory. Cloud, on the other hand, uses only his sword, as seen in Advent Children. Sure, his materia was stolen from him, but Vincent did say to Yuffie (who brought some materia for him to use against Kadaj) that he could handle himself without any help. Sure, materia was part of his arsenal in FF7, but he didn't need any of it. Putting something in your inventory that you don't need is rather pointless, anyway. "Sure, both were restricted from summons and outside help, but Link has the advantage of actually still being able to use his full arsenal." Link had his full arsenal? What about his spells, potions, and masks? "Challenge Everyth- IT'S OUR SHOW WE CAN RIG IT HOWEVER WE WANT." Making a flawed fight doesn't automatically mean that it's rigged.
John Chapman Are you saying that I want cloud to win? Because I really dont care who wins and who loses. I say LOOKS, dude, looks, not there weapons. if they had that link would win no matter what from sheer knowledge of every weapon.
+Hunter Abate Let me link this to you www.screwattack.com/news/ofdbfb-update-cloud-vs-link-verdict-and-unwritten-rules-death-battle Any other arguements?
+Andrew Chow all the evidence I need is in the fact that Cloud is using the sword he starts with as to where Link has his best weapon, following this logic Link should have had the Kokiri sword. They used ten links basically in one form compared to not even mid game cloud. this fight was totally unfair and not thought out properly.
+Hammer T Bro This composite Link isn't even close to Link's best gear though. They could just take the Hero of Legends (alttp, Oracle Series and Link's awakening), who is pretty much this composite Link, with a lot more items.
+Jacob Sanchez I agree. I am a DBZ fan, but I can admit I can see Goku losing to Superman. I think it'd be abit closer of a fight than screwattack said but I can see that going either way. But Majin Buu would DESTROY Kirby. I am a Kirby fan too but they really stretch Kirby's abilities.
+dudejo Even then they would still be wrong because Buu is multi-planet buster to star buster and most characters are multi planet busters. When Buu destroyed earth, Goku said it was enough power to destroy earth 10 times over, Kirby has never survived enough power to destroy 10 planets at once.
So let me get this straight... Link won because he had the weapons and items of EVERY incarnation of himself ever and because of..... Z targeting.. Z targeting? That's not an ability ScrewAttack, it's a game mechanic. If we're going off that logic Cloud shouldn't have been able to attack so much because he'd have to wait his turn after every attack. As someone who loves both these characters this could've been done soooo much better.
I didn't see the fierce deity mask did you? They left out a lot and if they used majora's mask iteration with the fierce deity mask he loses by default since link literally becomes a god with the mask.
Actually by lore, Link wouldn't be able to use the Fierce Deity Mask, as it would be considered outside help. Unlike the others, Majora's Mask and the Fierce Deity Mask both have another soul sealed inside that takes over the personality of the host. By Screw Attack's own rules, it cannot be used.
No Link was given his fighting equipment. Trust me he has far more equipment, Masks, fairy's, emblems like ether, din's fire, ect. Cloud was given his canon equipment from fighting games, he is an Rpg protagonist, he can be customized in a variety of way's, so they used cloud with equipment he gets in fighting games.
He’s basically Batman only he can control time and chop down moons and is a better fighter and has multiple ways of being indestructible and has magic powers lol
Cloud is strong and all, but Link is a more inspirational hero. In Link's adventures, people have always looked up to Link. Colin wanted to be just like Link when he grew up. Colin was a scared child, Link inspired him to be a hero because Link represents courage, what it means to be a hero. Darunia, the king of the Gorons named his son after Link. Joel from the Wind Waker is a child who wants to grow up to be big and strong like Link. Zill always follows Link around. Talo looks up to Link. Link is popular in real life and in his own universe. Link has saved kingdoms to entire dimensions.
***** The bullets in Advent Children were slow enough for humans to see them, so Cloud deflecting bullets isn't as impressive as it seems, especially considering he has a big sword that covers most of his body.
Raheem Plummer What made you jump-ship on this subject? First Cloud can ''do lightspeed'' and all that other stuff, now he's too slow, using the size of his sword as compensation while under fire. Damn...
***** The bullets in Advent Children were slow. If I can see them travel, they aren't that fast. Plus, Yazoo missed a lot of his shots. Focus on the feats Cloud did, not Zack.
dialsforstupid Only certain parts of the movie were slowed. I always thought the entire movie was in slow motion, but I found out that was never stated.
Lol all these butt hurt Cloud fanboys. FYI This isn't even Link's full strength. You are all complaining about Cloud's Summons, but ScrewAttack didn't even include Link's masks which are in my opinion one of his most powerful weapons/tools. He can transform into a Goron which is suppose to be the big bruisers of the Zelda franchise. He can even transform into a giant that makes normal Link look like an insect. For Christ's sake he can even transform into the Fierce Deity God, let me repeat that, A GOD. If normal Link beat Cloud, imagine what Fierce Deity Link would do to him.
I'll just say two things: 1. I'll asume you don't know a thing about Final Fantasy, even less about Cloud. 2. We are comparing two fictional worlds, the one we like the most wins. Just to clear things up, I've played nearly every Legend of Zelda and all FFVII's games. And if it was up to my opinion, Cloud would win.
"Link's full strength" Which Link? This one of the problems with this fight. All of the Links seemed to become one in this fight since he had access to other items that belonged to different Links, yet it seems only the intro version of Cloud that some how knew Omnislash was considered in the actual fight even though they showed feats from the Advent Childern version, which would have rocked this version of Cloud.
I've played just about every FFVII game (I didn't do dirge of the cerberus... don't think I missed much), and every Legend of Zelda. I happen to like Cloud, but I do think Link would win. If you have ever done any kind of combat you would know how shitty a great-sword is in combat. Even if you were stupid fast with it, it's easy to block because of how much momentum you have to build up to actually do some damage with it. Not to mention Z-targeting is stupid broken. Aside from alllll that stuff... Hyrule Warriors Link decimates armies. There are few video game characters that have feats that include "decimate armies."
I feel like no matter what they do, no matter how much information they gathered, people will complain that link won and people will complain if cloud won. just like all other deathbattles, one side will always be unsatisfied. it's sad really...
To be fair, the Death Battle team do screw up on their research from time to time. For example, I spotted several mistakes in this fight, and I've played the hell out of FF7 and watched FF7 Advent Children Complete, so I know a good deal about the FF7 lore. Cloud is too powerful for Link--not because of skill but because of his dreaded Omnislash. ...but yes, people are that irrational.
+chimanruler15 well this is assuming that each character is playing at their highest potential. I do believe links targeting was possible against omnislash, however it felt one sided as cloud only hit link for like what, 1 second?
Callinater That, and Cloud is more tactical than Death Battle gives him credit for. Unless his opponent is Sephiroth, he wouldn't be curbstomped that easily.
Luis Lopez So basically you say ScrewAttack is biased yet you admit that Xbox and Playstation are better than Nintendo despite that being your opinion? And how do you know Link would die even with his best armor? Or are you just speculating? Link does train, do you know anything about him?
***** I'm not a Cloud fan. I always liked Link more than Cloud, in the past when I debated for him, I didn't debate for him because I liked him better, I debated for him because I thought he was stronger.
***** Oh yeah, I saw most or all of the characters in Hyrule Warriors and on the Zelda Wiki they even have a list of all of the characters. And I'm going to Gamestop tomorrow to purchase it. And yes, Link is certainly impressive in Hyrule Warriors.
***** You do realize that Hyrule Warriors is non-canon right? And Cloud didn't have ribbon in Advent Children, nor Dirge of Cerberus. And characters such as Majora and Garo Master have super speed and Link can keep up with then just fine.
Destruction isn't the right word, since golden gauntlets only magically allow Link to lift things in very specific ways. They don't increase his striking power, or anything like that. Basically, to imagine the destruction he could unleash, we just have to imagine the destruction BOTW Link could cause, and we would have our answer.
The death battles were videos that made for characters that would never meet in any official video game, but now that Cloud is in smash bros this DB is now no longer valid since the fighters are given definitive, and official, stats and fighting capabilities.
This Death Battle came out long before the release of Smash 4. Therefore whatever moves both Link and Cloud had under their belts could only come from sources prior to this Death Battle.
You know it the reason they made a remake is because the hardcore ff fanboys have been harassing death battle non stop for 8 years so they had to make link a idiot and give cloud literally every blow he put on him so they could stop it’s sad when you think about it
I'm unsure about this one. Cloud isn't all about brute force. He's been shown to use his larger swords defensively several times. Also, Link uses Z targeting, a trait most commonly present only when he has a fairy to help guide him. By showing his ability to use this without his fairy means this Link had the "skills" of several Links, not one specific Link. So for it to be a fair fight, Cloud should have brought his Fusion Swords, not the Buster Sword. The Fusion Swords takes Clouds defense to a whole new level, as well as keeping him in the fight should his main sword be disarmed. While Link's gauntlets allows him to defend against even the strongest of Clouds attacks, you openly state that it does NOT increase attack strength. This should mean his grip on his shield is not strengthen either, meaning Cloud's powerful strikes could easily disarm Link of his shield. Cloud is also smart enough to know not to attack a shield, but rather force or wait for an opening - Wielding a large sword means his attacks are slower, so every swing that misses or doesn't harm the opponent is a waste of strength. I think my final comment is on Cloud's base defensive abilities - He's able to take being shot, stabbed, blown up and even survive drops from the top of sky scrapers (whether or not he lands it), so Link's bombs, which don't even harm Link himself that much, shouldn't have been enough to render Cloud unable to counter an incoming attack. I'm really unsure about who would win overall, as both characters bring a lot to the table. I have to say I disagree with this animation, even if Link came out victorious, it painted Cloud as a bruiser who only focuses on brute force.
Why can't more comments be like this one? Is it really that hard for some people to state whether you agree or disagree with the outcome without resorting to insults?
They also say that Clouds predictable fighting isnt as good as Links unpredictable fighting. Jon Jones = stand at a distance, jab and elbow. UFC Champ Ronda Rousey = arm bar. (Seriously, EVERY fight is an arm bar for the win?!) UFC Champ GSP = tackle, mount, punch. Get the decision usually. Champion. Floyd Mayweather = play defense and counter punch. Champ and undefeated. I could go on. Being predictable or unpredictable doesn't mean much. All those dudes who you can predict how their fight will be, you can pretty much predict they'll win too.
Monti Andrews Though I still support Link, his margin for victory is much lower than what Screw Attack put forth. I can give you a few examples of my own. These are figurative, mind you. Apollo Creed/faster, stronger Winner: draw Apollo Creed/faster,stronger Winner: Rocky Balboa by ko Clubber Lang/much faster Winner: Rocky Balboa by ko Ivan Drago/much, much stronger Winner: Rocky Balboa by ko Just because someone is faster or stronger/ can't react doesn't mean they won't. I urge someone to tell me how a batter can hit an 80mph fastball when the ball itself is going too fast for general perception to recognize.
Well, those are movies and of course the main guy wins lol. For baseball, its sort of prediction. Your eye sees the ball at one point. You see it coming. Your mind instantly calculates trajectory, and pretty much estimates where it'll be at. Sends a singal to your muscles to swing at that spot. It's not 100%. Can't see spin on the ball to see if it's a curve, sinker etc. So, it's a little flawed, hence why people miss. Works well though. No, stronger and faster don't always win. Does play a huge factor though. Was just saying, predictable style or unpredictable style doesn't mean a lot in reality. People that are more aggressive win the fight a HUGE % more than those who aren't aggressive. I believe it's around 80% or so. (I'll have to pull up the study sometime). Action is always faster than reaction. Takes time for your eyes to see their attack, register it, and move. Just like baseball. Pitching is the action, hitting is the reaction. Whats average, .250? .300-.350 is considered REALLY good.
Indeed, I don't even like FF7 that much and I still think Cloud should have won or at least they could have gave him better equipment. I mean really, giving Cloud what is basically his base equipment is hardly fair...
I completely agree... They should have at least given him the Fusion Sword or something. Plus why include the ribbon if you're gonna ignore it's effects?
Alexander Klindt Yeah, I'll have to agree with this one. Regardless of summons, with full end-of game equipment on both OR base starting equipment, the fight would easily weigh to Cloud's side. I'd like to point out that if you're basing Cloud off of Dissidia, he has a short cooldown on the end of omnislash before he can dodge. I have played Ocarina and Majora's mask, so correct me if I'm wrong, but: Link's dodge of omnislash showed more mobility than I've ever seen him have in ANY game, and I'm pretty sure he can't simultaneously drop six bombs at once, let alone while damaged and in the air (source: every zelda game ever). Looking more closely at that final scene: it looks like Cloud missed his omnislash. When has this ever been possible? I can understand him hitting Link's shield, but it seems like he just whiffed entirely. Not a Cloud fanboy, just feels like this matchup's winner was based on which fanbase would be more butthurt about losing.
Link beats Cloud, Sephiroth beats Virgil, Cloud beats Sephiroth, Sephiroth beats Link? That’s your next battle. Side note, would you consider doing a tournament/round 2 of past winners vs winners?
Cloud had alot of help beating sephiroth in the games. If your talking about advent children, the creator of the series and of these charactwrs came out on record to say that sephiroth was nowhere near his full power in the movie, which we can prove considering at the end of ff7 he can litterally shatter the fabric of reality to call apon super Nova
@@namelessyami4099 Cloud beat Sephiroth 1v1 at the end of FFVII. He had help getting to him and beating Sephiroth's clones, but the final battle was 1 on 1. Advent Children doesn't count for the exact reason you stated, but Cloud still beat him again 1v1. I imagine Cloud doesn't want his friends to help with Sephiroth. Probably because of his nasty habit of mistaking stomachs for sheaths.
Coming here in June 2021 to just say I'm THRILLED this is getting the proper rematch it deserves. And I know it won't be easy, so thank you everyone on the team for making it happen! ❤️
Cloud really hasn't gotten much out of FFVIIR (mostly the same abilities, with a few new ones to work in real time, 3D combat), while Link's gotten quite a few games in the past decade. Unless they're planning on giving Cloud a full loadout, instead of taking 99.9% of his power away from him.
@@Lycanthromancer1 FF7R made Cloud's weapons upgradable and gave him some new materia. But it's the upgradable weapons that make Cloud more formidable, granting extra materia slots, significant stat boosts and resistances, and some additional abilities. And this time Death Battle shouldn't nerf Cloud so hard. If the same handicap was applied to Link, he would just be equipped with a Kokiri Sword and Deku shield.
How is that Link gets to use his best weapons and shield but Cloud wasn't allowed to? Why didn't Cloud do any summons? I'd like to see Link survive a Knights of the Round Table summon. And why couldn't he use his Ultimate Weapon? This is BS.
Robert Soyars This isn't Link's best weapons. He has better items such as magic cape. Cloud didn't have any summons because outside help isn't allowed in DeathBattle. Pay attention to the rules. Cloud didn't have Ultima Weapon because Ultima Weapon isn't canon, the player is the one who chooses a different weapon, not the character, and Advent Children proves the Buster Sword was Cloud's previous sword.
Raheem Plummer But Link doesn't start out with the Master Sword, nor that shield, nor the bombs, nor any of the others. It was rigged to make Link win.
Robert Soyars I thought they said they would fight with what they bring into their fighting games. And the Master Sword is the strongest weapon Link has. Without it, he probably wouldn't even be fighting Cloud in the first place.
Chasm65 False - the strongest sword Link ever had was the Big-Goron Sword. Link was missing a lot of his strongest items as well, such as the Fierce Deity Mask and Forore's Wind.
I still find it funny that people still try to defend this video. I love Zelda and Final Fantasy, but these are people that shouldn't even be fighting each other. Link isn't exactly known for his combat prowess. The only reason he does so well in the games is that every single attack in those games are so telegraphed that it's easy to block them, even egoraptor goes on about how a lot of the 3d games is just waiting for them to attack you. These are franchises that shouldn't even be interacting, Link isn't some be all badass, he's an adventuring boy who finds the courage to save Hyrule whenever it's in distress. And please don't act like he's some omnipotent being who obtains all the previous abilities of his past lives, that's not how reincarnation works. Like I said before, I love Link, I love Cloud, but this was a poorly done battle, the franchises are in such different terrain, basically everyone in Final Fantasy VII is a demigod in terms of power, having the capability to destroy the world if they want to, Zelda's not about that, Zelda's about exploring the world and dungeons, it's focus is not fighting monsters. Also if we wanna go into it like they're just from their fighting franchises, then link shouldn't have had Z targeting, and Cloud's special ability in Dissidia was the fact that he could break ANY defense, no matter who it was, they couldn't block his HP attacks. The Hylian shield isn't some unbreakable shield either, it can be eaten by like-likes requiring you to buy another. Idk, the whole idea of having these characters fight bothers me because it should be pretty one-sided towards Cloud, and at the same time it bothers me even more that they nerfed him so hard with pretty BS reasons while giving Link the arsenal of several generations
"Like I said before, I love Link, I love Cloud, but this was a poorly done battle, the franchises are in such different terrain, basically everyone in Final Fantasy VII is a demigod in terms of power, having the capability to destroy the world if they want to, Zelda's not about that, Zelda's about exploring the world and dungeons, it's focus is not fighting monsters." I don't think that's accurate. FF7 characters are powerful but not that powerful, and Zelda may not be entirely focused on fighting monsters, but you still do fight monsters, nonetheless. "The Hylian shield isn't some unbreakable shield either, it can be eaten by like-likes requiring you to buy another." The shield was stated to be indestructible in Skyward Sword, which only makes the entire Zelda timeline even more inconsistent.
chimanruler15 The Hylian Shield being indestructible in Skyward Sword doesn't make the Zelda timeline inconsistent. The Hylian Shields in the other Zelda games aren't the same one from Skyward Sword. They're mass produced.
***** ***** ***** The debate is finally over. Link won and it's final. Cloud is vulnerable to the Master Sword due to the Jenova cells. Now before you say (But the Jenova Cells aren't sentient) that does not matter to the Master Sword. In Twilight Princess Link's Master Sword repelled evil magic and in the Wind Waker Link one-shotted a barrier surrounding Hyrule Castle. And we all know magic and a barrier is not sentient. Also the next rebuttal will be (But Aerith purified the Jenova Cells) Incorrect. Aerith cured Geo-stigma. In order for Aerith to purify it, she would have to rewrite the DNA structure of the cell. All she did was remove Sephiroth's will. In Advent Children when Sephiroth wasn't there, the reunion instinct automatically kicked in when the kids drunk the tainted water. The Jenova cells are always trying to regroup to do evil and if Cloud or any other Jenova injected victim become exposed to tainted substance, the reunion instinct will kick in proving the Jenova Cells are still evil. Next is speed. ***** already proved Cloud did not dodge bullets. Yazoo had terrible aim and Cloud aim dodged, he swings his sword and Yazoo just shoots at his sword. That is nothing of bullet speed. If you want proof, I can E-mail you the freeze frames that I've seen. I you look at how fast Cloud swings his sword it's not that fast. Also, Link has defeated Majora, who can move so fast he creates images of himself, not even Sephiroth could move that fast. Also, Link could dodge Majora's whips and the tips of whips break the sound barrier. but in Majora's case, the whips are extremely long, so therefore Link is actually dodging sound speed. Also, Cloud dodging Kadaj's lightning is not that fast. First not all lightning is the same speed, and it's already been calculated to only be mach 1. Also, the Reunion Files never stated that the entire movie is in slow mo, only *certain* scenes are slowed down. Omnislash is not in a blink of an eye. That wasn't written by Suare Enix. It was written by Studio Bentstuff and it's hyperbole as Omnislash in the movie was not that fast and it was not a slowed down scene. Also, I know that Link can't block Omnislash Version 6 but in a fight Cloud wouldn't do Omnislash Version 6 since it's a attack that can only be executed in a specific situation. It's an aerial attack and Sephiroth was floating in the air, Link doesn't fly. Cloud cannot break Link's defense. Cloud never sliced through buildings, he sliced through metal parts of unknown infrastructure. Link has repelled attacks that can slice through thick metal, Link can repel any of Cloud's attacks. In terms of durability, Cloud is more durable as he can tank a city busting attack, however, when he is weakened he can he damaged by much weaker attacks proven at the end of the movie when he was knocked out by Loz and Yazoo and would have died of his wounds if Aerith did not heal him. Link would purge the Jenova Cells in 1 blow and vastly weaken him and he would have shit durability. Link is the winner and he is the better character anyway, well at least in my opinion.
Hmmm I kinda lost interest on this, but I suppose I will concede the point. Getting far too interested in Samus vs Master Chief lately. I can't really like either as a character. Cloud because I never played his game to appreciate him, and Link because he's far too....eh I don't know the word...too much of a hero archetype I suppose, especially with more dynamic characters like Midna.
***** Well at least your reasonable. I guess you like more deep characters? I like Link a lot because for me, actions speak louder than words and Link is pretty inspirational. Actually, the video "Link the story you never knew" pretty much explains why I like Link. Although the uploader of the video has an annoying voice. Also, I would debate on Samus and Chief a but more if I read the Halo novels.
Raheem Plummer Of course, and if I do get back into this one someday I'll start by doing much more indepth analysis. As much care as I would give to Metroid debates. Well not that I like deeper characters, it's just that from these two I can't really decide who I do like more. I like Samus butt her character isn't that deep, and you have to really search to find it. The halo wikis do rather good jobs of sourcing feats to Halo novels and supplementary materials. It's a good place to research on Halo lore and whatnot.
***** meh... It no longer holds my interest anymore... i have been using the argument against some annoying trolls though XD as pass time when not debating on my new love..... "Cracked:After Hours topics" and "Whedonverse topics" Raheem Plummer Umm... just to further elaborate... Studio benstuff are the company who published the "the maiden who travels the planet" and some of the few documents publication *sanctioned by Square Enix*....Just Like how Nintendo allowed the publishing of "Hyrule Historia" to DarkHorse Publishing also an interview cannot be stated as a hyperbole when other previous dev team interviews are considered at face value... Just saying :D
***** I hear yah. It was fun while it lasted and we did meet interesting people, so not all bad in the end. Eh those trolls deserve it, nothing more satisfying than making trolls ragequit. Whedonverse?
@@axinhedgelion8417 There is so much wrong with what you just said. Link is a recurring main character in one of the most popular series in gaming history. Cloud is not. Also, screwattack does the exact opposite of that. They care nothing of popularity, it's about data and how strong they are.
@@QUBED my dude have you not seen the yang vs tifa fight or scout vs tracer they are flat out biased especially in this they didn't use cloud's full arsenal and unless link can move at mach speeds to block any version of the omni slash he doesn't stand a chance blocking fifteen slashes from multiple directions or his newer version from advent children and to top it off while cloud is weaker than sephiroth he is the only person in the entire series to be able to go toe to toe with him in a one on one fight and sephiroth can destroy planets or even entire solar systems
Brandon Tunnel the "Z-targetting" is just a gameplay feature, not one of Link's powers, that would be stupid, cause he could parry and repost everything. Just imagine Link blocking and dodging Goku or Flash xD
mrdjpalmer1 Don't forget Cloud can block his opponents attack as an option, that's a game feature as well. Every Link has had this skill (from the 3d games at least.) so it stands to reason it's one of links powers.
Brandon Tunnel No offense, but your reasoning gives me headaches. You're just saying that Link can block infinite hits for eternity since you can do that to some standard foes in the game
mrdjpalmer1 I'm not saying Link is capable of blocking all the attacks, if I came off that way I apologies, but the Z Targeting is more of what the name stands for, Targeting. Link is more capable of landing Direct attacks.
Has anyone noticed that they used a Composite Link? And that they used Dissidia Cloud, which isn't canon? Based on Link's appearance it's obvious that it is Twilight Princess Link, or Smash Bros Brawl Link, even though it doesn't matter since they are the same. Cloud's appearance would indicate either Dissidia or the original game, but since ScrewAttack said they were basing them off their fighting game, it is Dissidia Cloud. Now, this is how you can tell this is a Composite Link. They gave Twilight Princess Link the Golden Gauntlets. Did you realize that ScrewAttack said they are going off of iconic weaponry yet, Link has Golden Gauntlets despite not being iconic? Plus, Golden Gauntlets is an item from Ocarina of Time, which is a item from a different timelime than then child timeline. They gave Twilight Princess Link Pegasus Boots. The Pegasus Boots originated from A Link to the Past, but since ScrewAttack added the Roc's Feather, it is the Pegasus Boots from Link's Awakening. My point is that yet again, ScrewAttack gave Twilight Princess Link a item from a completely different timeline. ScrewAttack gave Twilight Princess Link Red Ring. The Red Ring was from the original Legend of Zelda and also in the Oracle games, but they used the one from the original Zelda game because Red Ring in the original one increased defense which ScrewAttack used whereas the one in the Oracle games increases attack power. This is another example of Twilight Princess Link having an item from a different timeline, the downfall timeline. ScrewAttack gave Twilight Princess Link the indestructible Hylian Shield. The Hylian shield was stated to be indestructible only in Skyward Sword. The Hylian Shield not being able to break in Twilight Princess is due to Game Mechanics. This means that they gave Twilight Princess Link Skyward Sword Link's shield which is another add on to a Composite Link. ScrewAttack said that they were basing them from their fighting game which means this is Dissidia Cloud instead of Final Fantasy VII Cloud. Plus the fact that Meteorrain was small like Dissidia instead of large like Final Fantasy VII. They gave Cloud Ribbon which is an optional item in the game, and in Advent Children which is canon, Cloud didn't have it. Cloud did wear a ribbon in the movie, but it was a ribbon that was in memory of Aerith, not the same ribbon that prevents status ailments. However, if you are going to give Cloud Ribbon at least do it right. Ribbon wasn't portrayed correctly in this video since it did not prevent Cloud from being stunned or frozen. If you are immune to a disease, you don't get the disease, and then your immunity quickly fights it off, you just don't get it period, which means Cloud shouldn't have been frozen in the first place, nor stunned for even a second. Ziedrich Armor is an armor that can be stolen from Rude. It's possible that is was canon in the game, but in Advent Children Cloud didn't have it. As for Materia, they gave Cloud lightning and Fire based off of it being iconic. Iconic=/= canon, meaning you shouldn't just go off of canon. Now in the original game Cloud starts with Lightning and Ice Materia, however in Advent Children Kadaj casted Lightning at Cloud and Fire at Rufus in the building, and that was the Materia that he stolen from Cloud. Which means that canonically means that Cloud would use Lightning and Fire Materia. Wow, even though ScrewAttack chose Lightning and Fire for the wrong reason, ironically they coincidentally chose the correct Materia. However, the Firaga should have been used like the one from Advent Children and not Dissidia. They gave Cloud the Buster Sword, based off it being iconic to Cloud. Cloud canonically uses the Buster Sword because it is the player, and not Cloud who chooses a different weapon. However, in Advent Children Cloud replaced the Buster Sword with the Fusion Sword which means that outside of gameplay, Cloud canonically chose the Fusion Sword, which means Cloud should have used that sword. How come Link gets Z-Targeting, yet you said you were basing them off of their fighting game and Link in Smash Bros doesn't have Z-Targeting yet Cloud from Dissidia has a targeting system, yet Cloud doesn't get it. Has anyone also noticed that when Twilight/Smash Bros Brawl Link threw his Boomerang, it wasn't the Gale Boomerang, which Twilight Princess Link uses? Conclusion: Composite Link vs Dissidia Cloud=ScrewAttack blatantly ignored canon.
An Iconic vs Iconic debate isn't something that can be easily settled on. Most FFVII players will cite the Knights of the Round Materia as being iconic but that would be overkill here. Even so ScrewAttack went with a Restricted Cloud vs a Composite Link. Your argument is spot on in that regard. Conclusion: We won't do that much difference in the comments section. Reason: 0:47. Someone just has to do it better than ScrewAttack and I definitely f'ing am going to do just that.
I also loved how they completely ignored the fact that in ANY zelda game, the weakest of monsters can hit you and send you flying. Clouds sword cut through a skyscraper in advent children. link can easily die to the weakest monster if he gets hit enough, even end game and fully geared out. Cloud would take literally hours to die full gear at the end being attacked nonstop by a low level mob. Their power differences are completely different scale. Just because link CAN lift 200 tons, doesnt mean he knows how to use it effectively. Plus, the only materia they gave cloud were some of the most worthless materias in the game. End game, hardly ANYONE uses fire or lightning (which, suprise suprise is easly countered by links shield). No, if cloud had his quad cut, stop, slow, Death, haste, counter attack, demi, ultima, curaga, regen, meteor or any of his dozens of summons, there is no way in HELL he would have lost. On the subject of Meteor, if link can lift that much weight, how come he didnt simply throw the moon when it started to land? He couldnt handle a meteor without hte help of 4 giants and every single mask he was using. So.. if cloud used Meteor on him, links fucked. They gimped cloud giving him the barest of bones build, while giving link EVERY SINGLE ITEM FROM EVERY GAME HE HAS EVER BEEN IN. Sounds fair to me, right?
Spencer Park you need to look into majaros mask before you judge (sorry I forgot how to spell it) first off that was child link without any of his tools from his adventures as an adult second if they have a no holds back fight to the death with no rules link could use the triforce all three pieces to make any wish he wanted and he'd have all the masks with a ridiculous amount and healing item's and health the abilty to turn into a painting teleport to an alternative universe and a flying bird friend.
Spencer Park 1000 tons. Fire and Lightning are his iconic materia, not his strongest, if we were to ure strongest here we'd have Nayru's love and Farore's Wind in the mix. The meteor's with the diameter they weighed in at a total of 576.9 tons. Probably far less considering these meteorites aren't going that fast at all. And they could have given Link a lot more items. The battle was about Cloud's strength, speed, etc... vs Link's equipment and tactical battle strategy. You talk about "Oh, it's so easy to die in the games" Well, not really, if they used Cloud's best armor-Ziedrich armor, even if it has no Materia slots, it's his strongest armor alone-then they probably also used 100% completion Link's heart meters. Not to mention they could have given him Nayru's love of the Magic Armor to make that point Null and void.
Conner Wolf fire and lightning isnt his iconic materia.... Ultima and KoTR are.... do research next time again with golden gauntlet fanwank..... point out why does it not affect link's defensive capabilities and still allows link to not block certain moves.. Proof of the Gauntlets inability to do 1000 tons pressure is the game's own CUTSCENES (the canonical proof in every game) that Link is still DISARMED by ganondorf regardless of him obtaining the golden gauntlets or not.... THUS A PROOF THAT CANONICALLY, GOLDEN GAUNTLETS ONLY UTILIZE IT'S CAPABILITIES ON *LIFTING* actually ziedrich is the least useful armor in the game.... and usage of a game mechanic like hearts system is stupid otherwise we would indicate HP system to indicate
Everyone gets so mad at these videos, I mean they use pretty good logic and everything. You people just need to research into BOTH characters and stop being such fucking fanboys.
did i get pissed off a little when batman lost to spider man? sure. Do i care enough to trash the validity of the whole channel? no because i'm not stupid.
***** I actually got into a debate with one guy, and he showed me that spiderman beat captain america a lot of the time (and always held back too, so he didn't kill cap), but marvel will never have the two have a full fledged fight, fanboys on either side will attack in too great of numbers for that to be possible.
***** it seriously is the spider sense. a stealth based fighter has no advantage. and while batman is the peak of human possibility, spiderman is straight up superhuman, you can't compete there, since with prep time, batman would have the posion that kills spiderman straight up, and spiderman would have brought the iron spider suit, which is ironman, Marvel's money equal to bruce wayne, making a suit made for spiderman's specific ability.
Baylith katan that's not a very good reason as to why spider man would win, batman has beaten many superhuman who are stronger and/or QUICKER than spiderman (such as aquaman, deathstroke, Bane, and wonder woman).
Link didn't even use all his items in this battle just so you know. Nayru's Love = Barrier for a good amount of time and never breaks. Chateau Romani = Magic power is unstoppable and heals all the way. Din's Fire = Fire barrier. Fire Rod = Shoots fireballs and all types of fire attacks. Mirror Shield = Absorbs fire and ice attacks and backfires. Great Fairy Sword = Heals him in battle auto (Soul Calibur) Sliver Arrow = Kills massive size monsters. Light Arrow = Kills all evil. I am losing fingers just naming them all. Plus, the new Link coming out in Hyrule Warriors much more better!
fffan96 Maybe for some of his power attacks, but he also drinks milk (Chateau Romani) that give him power no matter how much power he loses. Ultima is a very powerful attack, but at the same time, so is the sliver arrow, which is much faster and easier to do. Also, what about the fact that Omislash is "unblockable" but Link still got him?
fffan96 He really can't use any magic stealig properties when once link consumes Chateau Romani. Also the Triforce protect Link from all magical attacks suck as Ultima.
So I messed up again, went around saying that the ribbon was immune to every status except instant death, but that's only the ribbon from Crisis Core not from FFVII. I doubt anyone will see this, but this is the only correction I'll be making, not going back through all these comments just to correct myself, so I'll just leave it here if anyone sees it.
Cloud isn't purely based off of brute force. If you're a Final Fantasy fan compare him to someone like Jecht's meathead style of fighting. At least Cloud has a decent usage of magic ;p
DeluxStart Would you mind if I forward you to a mock-conclusion? Nothing over the top and certainly not a "final word", just the fight stripped of all the shit SA put forth, the bare bones. It's worth a look if you're interested. No links or blogs; it's down there...somewhere if you want to find it at your own leisure.
ok for anyone saying that they shouldn't have put in Z-targeting, I can easily just say it's not Z-targeting, it's actually his reaction time with his triforce of courage, that they showed as Z-targeting
Well, if you just sit and watch Cloud vs Sephiroth battle in FFVII Advent Children, you will soon realize that there is no way in Hell that Link could beat Cloud.... and that is without any summons or magic materia.... With summon it would be over in a blink of an eye, but even just using magic materia would be enough..... Cast Regen on himself, then cast either Ultima, Gravity, Comet, Stop, Petrify, Death?
***** "Well, if you just sit and watch Cloud vs Sephiroth battle in FFVII Advent Children, you will soon realize that there is no way in Hell that Link could beat Cloud" All I saw in that fight was Cloud getting his ass handed to him by someone who wasn't even putting forth any effort "With summon" Which only reinforces that Cloud can't do jack unless someone else is fighting for/with him "Cast Regen on himself, then cast either Ultima, Gravity, Comet, Stop, Petrify, Death?" Triforce of Courage protects against curses. Or, why even bother with just one piece? The whole Triforce can just insta-kill Cloud with a wish
kaihedgie Not just someone... it was Sephiroth.... When I spoke about the fight meant his speed and agility, cuz I don't think Link would be able to keep up with him. Cloud could easily go around Link's shield and slice him up into little pieces... But.... I did not know much about the facts you mentioned about the tri-force... ....and I just personally hate Link :p
***** I know who it was :V "speed and agility" Cloud's not the Flash, dude. He's not that quick. And hello, Pegasus Boots, anyone? "Cloud could easily go around Link's shield and slice him up into little pieces..." Strange how someone who has the ability to teleport at will and frequently pops up behind him for overhead strikes has never succeeded in beating him. So much for your "super speed". You also seem to have forgotten the Spin Attack, which wards off any attempt to attack him from behind. There is also the Mortal Draw, which allows him to unleash a near instantaneous and lethal blow while his guard is down. So no, simply trying to get behind the shield will not work. At all.

The battle is strictly for entertainment purposes. The people who make the videos don't so the math nor the verdict. The point is the people who make the video only know the winner and how they fight, the rest is up to them.

The only thing link needed to defeat cloud was navi ,navi would be so annoying cloud would just die
Navi would be what starts the fight. She would be hovering around, saying 'Hey! Listen!' and pointing out the obvious, until Cloud just cant take anymore, so he cuts her in twain. Link then retaliates because, though she is an annoying twat, she is his annoying twat.

Link can beat cloud, yet Zelda can't beat peach? What's going on?!!??!?!
Except the comment is about that?
"Link can beat cloud, yet Zelda can't beat peach? "
Gee, they totally aren't discussing about Peach VS Zelda...wait.
Scissor man Zelda and Link are from the same game. That's where Zelda vs Peach came from
I know, and that's why I'm saying Jisoo should shut up. Because the topic was actually brought up.
yeah zelda was more magic so she should have beat peach but i still like Link vs Cloud
Camera work here is my favorite in all the death battles. Animation isn’t half bad either. Models are a bit stiff, but it really feels like the characters are operating under the rules of their games.

What was the music playing in the back?
But if Cloud got all his abilities so would Link, giving him the Fierce Deity Mask, which literally makes Link a god
I dont really contest the ending of this battle, but I DO want to see a remastered version of the fight. This matchup should have a better animation!!
belmontzar to be fair this was their first 3D Battle ever shown, so it's not up to par in today's standards, but still lives up to it
Brandon Tunnel oh totally ^_^ and its still an awesome fight XD
+belmontzar Just like the Samus vs Bobaffet fight, yes!
Barrie w Ummmm, ok bud, what ever you say.... (Even though the main topic here is having the fight remastered and nothing else.)
The fact that they added 2012 in the title already makes me think they’ll have a rematch
They will. It’s the next death battle
Cloud had a team backing him up during his travels, not all of his victories have been his doing alone, it mostly stem from being in a team,
Link on the other hand is usually on his own or doing all the battling solo against impossible foes any normal man would be killed by.
Now I'm not saying Cloud hasn't faced anything inferior, but they have faced many similar foes, it's just that when you look at the gameplay, Link is usually on his own, meaning his victories stem from his quick thinking, He's an explorer by trait, must look around his environment for solving puzzles, Link has to adapt quickly when fighting different opponents or bosses,
Cloud's Main means of striking are magic and Brute Force, something Link has faced before.
He was designed to fight, formerly trained by the military, and has survived things that would normally kill Link (Falling from the sector plate into Aerith's church, getting impaled in the chest, etc.)
Also, on another note, Link's gauntlets don't allow his hands to withstand more pressure, they just allow him to lift heavier objects. Why? Link does not gain any defensive perks after receiving the golden gauntlets. So then how does he lift it? Magic, probably. After all, they do have a little Gem on the back of the hand. And even then, why is it that he still has trouble with carrying the biggoron sword and the megaton hammer?
Just some points to ponder...
tan(90 Needing navi to z-target? Cough cough TP. cough Cough.
Yeah... he doesn't need a partner to Z-Target in that game, which furthered my point that TP Link was the best Link to choose.
Link shield is so powerful it survived a hit from a laser that consumed the galaxy
Teganthetiger 1 not to mention his sword was able to hit and defend himself from the laser
see kids, that's what happens when you block correctly
That was just a parry
Logan Burke when link got hit by the laser he bounced back a little bit, that was not a parry.
Cloud survived the heat of the sun without blocking anything
Cloud never dealt with Navi, that was his demise. Link has been annoyed farther than any mortal can imagine.

Was anyone else confused that Cloud wasn't using items?
Zack Kelley Yep. I'm also confused as to why they are basing his capabilites on the spinoff fighting game and not the RPG he came from. I mean seriously if you factor in all of the stuff he can do with Materia then his move set becomes far more versatile. They said using materia hurts the planet, but if the materia already exists then there's no point in not using it. It would only be bad if they continued to make more of it.
DevilHunter1994
Hell, throw in all the stuff Cloud can do with just items and it gets even more ludicrous, especially if one assumes Cloud has maxed out everything.

From 3-4 galaxies away?"
...with a gravity-elemental attack that doesn't even kill anyone in the party? There are much more threatening attacks in the game that aren't even close to solar system-busting.
"Naturally, Link is given his best weapon"
No, he wasn't. There are more powerful swords for him to use.
"...and Cloud is given his basic starting weapon. If cloud is restricted to starting weapons, why does Link get the Master Sword? He should have a Wooden Sword or Basic Longsword."
It depends on what Link you want to use.
"Nerf Cloud as many times as you want, but you have to compensate with just as many restrictions on Link. It's unfair."
Not really.
"Sure, both were restricted from summons and outside help, but Link has the advantage of actually still being able to use his full arsenal."
Link had his full arsenal? What about his spells, potions, and masks?
"Challenge Everyth- IT'S OUR SHOW WE CAN RIG IT HOWEVER WE WANT."
Making a flawed fight doesn't automatically mean that it's rigged.

+Adam Agee Kirby won because they based him off of his anime show, where he seemingly survives exploding planets without a scratch.
+dudejo Even then they would still be wrong because Buu is multi-planet buster to star buster and most characters are multi planet busters. When Buu destroyed earth, Goku said it was enough power to destroy earth 10 times over, Kirby has never survived enough power to destroy 10 planets at once.

Akito Scorpio Nothing, because that’s a gameplay mechanic. Cloud dodges and blocks lasers too.

Raheem Plummer the footage was slowed?
And they dodge in other places
Raheem Plummer What made you jump-ship on this subject? First Cloud can ''do lightspeed'' and all that other stuff, now he's too slow, using the size of his sword as compensation while under fire.

***** The bullets in Advent Children were slow. If I can see them travel, they aren't that fast. Plus, Yazoo missed a lot of his shots.

dialsforstupid Only certain parts of the movie were slowed.
Fierce Deity Link isn't that impressive, to be honest.
www.screwattack.com/news/link-vs-cloud
I'll just say two things:
"Link's full strength"
Which Link?
I cant believe its been 8 years! The only channel I don't regret giving all my life to, Love you guys!

***** Yeah, Hyrule Warriors is going to be very exciting.
***** Lana is a character created specifically for Hyrule Warriors.
***** You do realize that Hyrule Warriors is non-canon right? And Cloud didn't have ribbon in Advent Children, nor Dirge of Cerberus.
And characters such as Majora and Garo Master have super speed and Link can keep up with then just fine.
Imagine botw link with the golden gauntlets. Just imagine the sheer destruction he could unleash with his already beastly strength

+Soren Daein it was a joke
Hype Kill
Didn't look like a joke to me.
If Cloud had won, the result would've been the same but in reverse so it doesn't matter who wins this fight, people will complain
Wise words Samurai Jack.
Rasheed Thomas Ooh ooh! Samurai Jack vs Afro Samurai!! :D
I said that before! :-D
You know it the reason they made a remake is because the hardcore ff fanboys have been harassing death battle non stop for 8 years so they had to make link a idiot and give cloud literally every blow he put on him so they could stop it’s sad when you think about it
Wow... Coming back, you can really tell that this was their first 3D animated fight
Is it really that hard for some people to state whether you agree or disagree with the outcome without resorting to insults?
chimanruler15 Because some people, like this guy, have the balls to outright explain their end of the deal, and some don't.XD
They also say that Clouds predictable fighting isnt as good as Links unpredictable fighting.
Jon Jones = stand at a distance, jab and elbow. UFC Champ
Ronda Rousey = arm bar. (Seriously, EVERY fight is an arm bar for the win?!) UFC Champ
GSP = tackle, mount, punch.
Apollo Creed/faster, stronger
Winner: draw
Apollo Creed/faster,stronger
Winner: Rocky Balboa by ko
Clubber Lang/much faster
Winner: Rocky Balboa by ko
Ivan Drago/much, much stronger
Winner: Rocky Balboa by ko
Just because someone is faster or stronger/ can't react doesn't mean they won't.
Yeah...
I'm not a fanboy here... but no.
This was poorly done.
I have played Ocarina and Majora's mask, so correct me if I'm wrong, but:
Link's dodge of omnislash showed more mobility than I've ever seen him have in ANY game, and
I'm pretty sure he can't simultaneously drop six bombs at once, let alone while damaged and in the air (source: every zelda game ever).
Well... I agree with everything but your final contention. I don't think that they purposefully tried to piss us off...
I meant they choose a winner based on who would scream less.
Link beats Cloud, Sephiroth beats Virgil, Cloud beats Sephiroth, Sephiroth beats Link? That’s your next battle. Side note, would you consider doing a tournament/round 2 of past winners vs winners?
@@rapidfire9999 Huh? Sephiroth "beated" Vergil.
ua-cam.com/video/8sdzSDKquiY/v-deo.html
Acutally
The version he fights one on one was much weakened
I don't think Sephiroth could stand a chance against fierce deity
Coming here in June 2021 to just say I'm THRILLED this is getting the proper rematch it deserves. And I know it won't be easy, so thank you everyone on the team for making it happen! ❤️
How far my boys have come, so cool to see how much they've improved over the years.
Cloud better have his AC Sword this time at least.
Let's hope they don't nerf Cloud again.
Link vs cloud remastered
***** yeah, but they did make samus aran vs boba fett remastered, so why not link vs cloud remastered?
+Darrel Smith cus its already 3D the first samus vs boba wasn't
Nintendo Kids yeah, but it would've been cooler if they used better graphics, more fighting sequences and maybe little dialog.
yeah this looked good IN 2012 but this fight would be amazing remastered

It reminds me of that magically expanded bag Hermione had in Harry Potter.
Chasm65 So it's OK for Link to have his strongest sword and shield, but not Cloud?

"Like I said before, I love Link, I love Cloud, but this was a poorly done battle, the franchises are in such different terrain, basically everyone in Final Fantasy VII is a demigod in terms of power, having the capability to destroy the world if they want to, Zelda's not about that, Zelda's about exploring the world and dungeons, it's focus is not fighting monsters."
I don't think that's accurate. FF7 characters are powerful but not that powerful, and Zelda may not be entirely focused on fighting monsters, but you still do fight monsters, nonetheless.
"The Hylian shield isn't some unbreakable shield either, it can be eaten by like-likes requiring you to buy another."
The shield was stated to be indestructible in Skyward Sword, which only makes the entire Zelda timeline even more inconsistent.
chimanruler15 The Hylian Shield being indestructible in Skyward Sword doesn't make the Zelda timeline inconsistent. The Hylian Shields in the other Zelda games aren't the same one from Skyward Sword. They're mass produced.
Raheem Plummer I see. My mistake.
so an attack that can pierce any defence and a shield that can block any attack, we seem to have run into a problem here
I know right
***** ***** *****
The debate is finally over.
Raheem Plummer
Of course, and if I do get back into this one someday I'll start by doing much more indepth analysis.
"Cracked:After Hours topics" and "Whedonverse topics"

Cellogames 1 it’s about which character is more popular
Cloud should have won, he’s more popular than link
@@axinhedgelion8417 popularity is the least of Screwattack's concern.
Not even sephirot can block the omnislash. Link has an unbreakable shield, but it's impossible for him to parry all those strikes
mrdjpalmer1 He had Z targeting, able to let him counter most of the attack and get Cloud at the perfect moment.
You're just saying that Link can block infinite hits for eternity since you can do that to some standard foes in the game
mrdjpalmer1 I'm not
saying Link is capable of blocking all the attacks, if I came off that way I apologies, but the Z Targeting is more of what the name stands for, Targeting. Link is more capable of landing Direct attacks.
am i the only one that thinks screwattack has something against final fantasy? first cloud then tifa. im suspicious
Nick kramer is the Death Battle writer and a huge RPG fan so i don't think so.

June 13 2021, they're finally having a rematch. Who else is here after it was announced
Ultima and KoTR are.... do research next time
again with golden gauntlet fanwank..... point out why does it not affect link's defensive capabilities and still allows link to not block certain moves.. Proof of the Gauntlets inability to do 1000 tons pressure is the game's own CUTSCENES (the canonical proof in every game) that Link is still DISARMED by ganondorf regardless of him obtaining the golden gauntlets or not.... THUS A PROOF THAT CANONICALLY, GOLDEN GAUNTLETS ONLY UTILIZE IT'S CAPABILITIES ON *LIFTING*
actually ziedrich is the least useful armor in the game.... and usage of a game mechanic like hearts system is stupid otherwise we would indicate HP system to indicate

***** It doesn't to me, but they at least provided evidence in the form of numbers and past triumphs to help support their point, unlike most fanboys.
***** I actually got into a debate with one guy, and he showed me that spiderman beat captain america a lot of the time (and always held back too, so he didn't kill cap), but marvel will never have the two have a full fledged fight, fanboys on either side will attack in too great of numbers for that to be possible.
*****
it seriously is the spider sense. a stealth based fighter has no advantage. and while batman is the peak of human possibility, spiderman is straight up superhuman, you can't compete there, since with prep time, batman would have the posion that kills spiderman straight up, and spiderman would have brought the iron spider suit, which is ironman, Marvel's money equal to bruce wayne, making a suit made for spiderman's specific ability.
Baylith katan
that's not a very good reason as to why spider man would win, batman has beaten many superhuman who are stronger and/or QUICKER than spiderman (such as aquaman, deathstroke, Bane, and wonder woman).
Link didn't even use all his items in this battle just so you know.

Mirror Shield = Absorbs fire and ice attacks and backfires.
Great Fairy Sword = Heals him in battle auto (Soul Calibur)
Sliver Arrow = Kills massive size monsters.
Light Arrow = Kills all evil.
I am losing fingers just naming them all.
Plus, the new Link coming out in Hyrule Warriors much more better!
0:24 says hi.
Cloud can use Osmose to steal all of Link's MP or Dispel to break any spell or a spell like Ultima to pierce through magical enhancements.
fffan96 Maybe for some of his power attacks, but he also drinks milk (Chateau Romani) that give him power no matter how much power he loses.
No Ultima bypasses Any kind of magical enhancements or barriers. Or Despell would cancel Chateau Romani or the magic armor or Nayrus love etc.
Well looks like resourcefullness and adaptability have won against brute force ^^
Valivali94 All the time. Everytime.XD
No I don't mind actually that sounds entertaining to watch. Where could I find it in case I don't get to it before you comment?
DeluxStart It's on down a bit. I just put you on the thread, so you'll get a notification shortly, if not already.
ok for anyone saying that they shouldn't have put in Z-targeting, I can easily just say it's not Z-targeting, it's actually his reaction time with his triforce of courage, that they showed as Z-targeting
Waiting
It’s not the tri force bro wym
Well, if you just sit and watch Cloud vs Sephiroth battle in FFVII Advent Children, you will soon realize that there is no way in Hell that Link could beat Cloud.... and that is without any summons or magic materia.... With summon it would be over in a blink of an eye, but even just using magic materia would be enough..... Cast Regen on himself, then cast either Ultima, Gravity, Comet, Stop, Petrify, Death?
***** "Well, if you just sit and watch Cloud vs Sephiroth battle in FFVII Advent Children, you will soon realize that there is no way in Hell that Link could beat Cloud" All I saw in that fight was Cloud getting his ass handed to him by someone who wasn't even putting forth any effort
"With summon" Which only reinforces that Cloud can't do jack unless someone else is fighting for/with him
"Cast Regen on himself, then cast either Ultima, Gravity, Comet, Stop, Petrify, Death?" Triforce of Courage protects against curses.
*****
I know who it was :V
"speed and agility" Cloud's not the Flash, dude.
At all.
kaihedgie That doens't change the fact that I hate Link and I wanted him to lose
***** that doesnt change the fact that your wrong though
Notice how they now added (2012) to the title
