Your accent(s) are beautiful. You don’t need to change. Here in Hawaii, many of us alternate our English to pidgin English, which is an amalgam of many cultures: Hawaiian, Japanese, Portuguese, Chinese mainly. It depends on who we are with 🌸

As long as you are being understood, who cares what accent you use? You are traveling all over and meeting peeps from everywhere... It makes sense that being an empathetic person, you shift your pronunciations to accommodate. 🥰

I love accents and is true ....you shift accents in different countries. I did when I went to Madrid and Buenos Aires. Rome also
You dont have to change in order for other people to perceive you as society deems right. I love your personality. People are too obsessed with accent. I'm an English teacher and always tell my students that having an accent isn't something bad. It is completely fine to keep your accent while learning English or another language. Accents are beautiful. It would be boring if we were all speaking in the same manner. The fact that you can change your accents is actually a skill, be proud of it 😃

I switch accents non stop! 😂 I constantly live with 3 different languages in my head, I work in an international company, I live in a foreign country, have friends and coleagues from different countries etc.. and it just happens that I unconsciously adapt to the environment. So I understand you 100%! 🥰

Watching your vlogs is my escape from reality. Being a full time university student is taking its toll mentally and emotionally. Your vlogs also make me question my decisions in life. Taking photos for a living, wearing designer, travelling, pampering self-care etc is definitely a wiser choice than getting burnt out trying to achieve high results as a future health practitioner. The comparison is depressing. But that’s life, you’re either lucky or your not

I also have a friend who changes accent depending on who she is talking to, but she’s super intelligent & know many languages. I think it’s also because of knowing many language. That’s a good thing noh? Hehe I love you💕
My sister switches accents based on who she is speaking to. It's effortless and not done purposely. She did this ever since being a child and now as an adult she is terrific at picking up new languages. Don't change if you don't want to. Be yourself. I like hearing when you pick up different accents. It makes you unique.

Love your video and love your accent! Just speak from the heart, and however it comes out is perfect. Empathetic, caring people have their accents change as well, so just be yourself and whatever accent comes out is the right one for that moment!
Same for me….as an English speaking first generation American with a German father and Venezuelan mother accents were always a part of my life. When I was in my mid twenties I moved to a small island off the coast of Thailand that had many foreigners from across the globe staying on the island for months at a time (some owned businesses/restaurants and were residents there) and I found my accent changing when I would speak with my Italian boyfriend and his circle of friends, and then with my close Japanese girl friends, and of course again with my Thai neighbors. I found myself accommodating them in the way I pronounced certain words in order to better communicate with them and overall, to make conversing easier for them. Long story short…as they say in Thailand, “Same same” Tamara!!! ☺️ Always Alysia

I`m living in Cyprus for 10 years and my accent is a huge deal now /when I listen to myself on UA-cam/because when I came here nobody understood what I say...So I had to adjust...now my American step-father is here and he struggles so much..nobody understands him...now I take classes to get my accent right again...Your videos are so inspiring! In my opinion it’s kind of a good thing because you want to be understood by the locals. When someone learns French your goal is the speak with the good French accent. But maybe it is different with English that is spoken with so many accents

I recently found you and I am blown away by how genuine and real you are! I Love this for myself we are much alike minus the money haha (for now) I am based in Trinidad & Tobago in the Caribbean... and I also change my accent naturally when it comes to speaking with people from different parts of my island where culturally the language differs a lot. Only partway through your vlog but hope we get to see it :) I'm glad you talked to an accent coach about this because I do the same thing and have always felt like I'm trying to make it easier for those communicating with me.
I am from UK. I left 30 yrs ago. I do speak differently when I speak with my family and friends in the UK because I can relax and not worry that I won't be understood. I think I automatically change my accent slightly (still British accent) where I live. You just adapt for communication reasons I think. It is a strange thing though

It's normal to change your accent or pick up different accents if you're surrounded by different people with different accents all the time as a non-native speaker. You do not have to explain yourself Tamara just keep doing what you're doing love the vlogs!!

Hey Tamara! Your videos are always lovely! Btw, Changing the accent is absolutely normal… I do that all the times! I’m Italian, but I live in Saudi Arabia where I work in an international university. Before coming here, I lived in the UK and I ‘absorbed’ the British accent. When I arrived here in Saudi, my accent was definitely British. After 3 years of speaking with international people, I have switched to a more neutral accent and especially when I speak in english with other Italians… my english sounds so italian 😂😂

I do the same thing with regards to the accents , I change the way I speak depending on who I speak to or where I am . I think it helps me understand what other people are saying , especially when they have a thicker accent , it just makes me process what someone said easier . Also makes them understand me better . I don’t do it intentionally, but I am aware that I do it after the fact .

No worries Tamara, I do the same with my accent especially when I speak English because there are so many variants of English I adapt to the type of English that the person I’m speaking to is using
Changing accents is perfectly fine and normal for some people. I’m personally also super empathic and also chance my accent depending who I’m talking to. Sometimes it even happens that say things grammatically wrong because the other person said it like that and then I’m like: why am I doing this? This is not helping the other person to improve.. quite the contrary actually!
I can control it better in my mother tongue and can snap out of it when I catch myself doing it but in English I’m a lost case 😂 I had this phase were I was watching a lot of british UA-camrs and a few weeks later I travelled to paris and I checked in at the reception of the hotel and I had such a thick British accent that my boyfriend thought I did it on purpose 🙈 but it’s been the UA-cam influence 😅
