Hi, Can you tell me if there is a road that goes down to the lake area from the BLM staging area? How close to the lake can we get with a 26' RV? What I was wondering is if we could boondock above at the BLM area, put our boat in the water at the south ramp and drive it over to the NE side of the lake and park the boat there for the weekend and have access to it from the BLM area. Drive our truck as close to the water as we can get to access the boat?
Beautiful area to camp in. The views of the distant Lake Pleasant and mountain sides is what makes desert camping some of the best. The views are panoramic for miles. I had no idea AZ had a population of wild burros. I live in New Mexico and we have wild mustang horses in the Northwest part of the state that is primarily on tribal and state lands. I was guided to your channel from a viewer leaving me a comment on mine. I am glad he did.
I read a book a while back about Virginia City in its heyday (The Big Bonanza by C B Glasscock). The author quotes the Sacramento Union newspaper as reckoning the number of animals (horses, oxen, mules, and burros) used by freighters on the routes from Sacramento to Virginia City (162 miles) to typically be 14,652 in 1863. That didn't count stages, mining operations, solo prospectors, and everyone else. That has to be representative of the many boom towns of the era. When you think about those sheer numbers, it isn't any wonder there's still a few out there wandering, mostly shying away from humans. Except in Oatman, where they've grown accustomed to being fed by tourists. Oatman is a trip. Lots of youtube videos.
Back in the 1960s up to the late 70s early 80s before the new dam there used to be a canyon on the northwest side of Lake Pleasant. Once you got about a half-mile back you started noticing water. Once you got about a mile back there was water flowing with a small waterfall flowing over a quartz vein that came down one Hillside across the creek and back up the other Hill. We used to go quail hunting back that Canyon all the time and see deer and javelina all kinds of creatures back there. Now it's under water which is a shame! The creek bed used to be full of geodes as well unbroken ones. I would have liked to run a gold pan through the material below that quartz vein before it was covered over by Lake Pleasant. Would have been interesting to see how much gold was just below that quartz vein! It used to be very quiet back there because it was dirt road all the way from I-17 to Lake Pleasant and the same goes for 99th Avenue. Now there's just too many people in that area to really enjoy it anymore...
So beautiful. I missed this video when you first posted it a few days ago. I decided to do a little winter camping down in the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee and catch a few trout. My Kodiak tent kept me fairly warm with a good sleeping bag and a mr. Buddy Heater. I was so sick of Television social media and the news I felt I must get away. And of course down there in the National Forest there is no cell service or electricity or anything. I came home feeling totally renewed. I always enjoy all the beautiful work that you put into your videos. Thanks for sharing. I did not make it to that spot when I was out there in 2017 maybe I can make it there next winter. I used to be a falconer, and had a red-tailed hawk. Red-tails vary quite a bit in coloration. The Sonoran Desert species are often paler than most. The black bands at the leading edges of the wings (underneath - visible when the bird takes flight in your video) are positive identifiers.
I am so, so jealous! I used to live in Safford, AZ ; Las Cruces, and Albuquerque, NM and El Paso, TX. I loved all of the open spaces and the fact that I could hike for *HOURS* with out encountering another person and enjoying what GOD had for me to enjoy. Since my TIA in 2002, I'm stuck in central KY! So keep posting your videos so people can see the beauty........

Glad you're having fun in Arizona, Mark. You're in the right place at the right time, IMO. Southern Arizona is the place to be in January and February. If you wander too far in any direction (except maybe Nevada) and stay in the states, you're liable to run into cold or nasty weather. Usually the worst you'll run into in Arizona is some annoying wind and dust. Of course the dust storms can be dangerous if you're driving.
Nice to see the burros. Leah and I during our visit at Christmas went to Oatman Arizona and we were able to see several burros. You find all of the good spots. Seven double yokers, that's pretty amazing. Take care buddy 🤝

I am jealous of your meal times. Just me, a tent and My Royal Enfield. No frig or stove, just food bars and the occasional Subway. Thank you for showing off Arizona. It was beautiful.
I tent camp too, get a Trangia spirit burner or a Coleman white or unleaded gas stove, many things don’t need refrigeration, Knorr has some pretty good dehydrated dishes that are inexpensive (not the ones meant for backpacking) some spices in small receptacles and there you go. You can also add dehydrated items like mixed vegetables, hash browns, mash potatoes, real cheddar cheese, butter, cream. They’re delicious, look for the natural ones like Anthony’s in Amazon.😉. Makes your meals a lot better and fun.
@@MeAndMyRoyalEnfield you can get lots of these things at Walmart, Anthony’s products are going to cost a bit more but still not expensive considering how long they last. The cheese won’t melt but you can put in on top of the potatoes even burgers you’ll get the taste but not the melt, the butter you can add a bit of water to spread or just sprinkle on top is delicious, Mac and cheese using these with Nido powder milk is really good. Another thing, if you’re going to bring some meat, marinate and freeze beforehand, that’ll save you buying more ice and the marinade will be better. If bringing fresh eggs, brake them and mix, grab an empty bottle and pour them in, it’ll save space in the cooler. For spices get the little plastic containers for party favors that look like chemistry 🧪 tubes, fill them up, use a permanent marker and stick inside a ziplock bag, no refrigeration needed, don’t forget powder chicken broth for rice, etc, get the powder one, use the broth, add those small packets of salmon, tuna or chicken (Walmart) you got a good dinner. Nothing better than a good tasty hot meal after you set camp or a nice hike. 😉

My husband and I just recently purchased a travel trailer and absolutely love the Lake Pleasant area, but of course, it is very hard to get a reservation at the Lake Campground unless you book months in advance, which we do when we can, but this weekend we are heading out towards Cow Creek Road area, so this video is very timely and appreciated! Personally, I adore the wild burros and get so happy every time I get to see them up close! Looking forward to many more trips to the Lake Pleasant area! :)
Lake Pleasant is a very nice spot to camp at. I can see why it's always booked! Thankfully, there is BLM land close by to camp on and enjoy the area. I love the burros also. LOL Especially the little burros. LOL

Hello! I've had no issues with rodents crawling up in my engine compartments or in my RV so far. I do take a couple of precautions; I open my hood up over night, and I also place two solar rope lights on the ground, underneath my engine. So far, so good.

Middle of last week back at home we got in the car to find chewed up cough drops and a chapstick....looked like a mouse did that. Set a trap and sure enough we had a stowed away rider come back with us from the desert. Completely forgot to take any precautions regarding mice/pack rats. But yep their out there.

I do believe you do. Here is what the regulation says. "Q: I live out of state. Can I continue to ride on my home state’s OHV decal? A: No. In 2019 the OHV decal program was amended to require out-of-state residents to purchase a nonresident OHV decal to ride within the state. Decals are not transferable between OHVs and each machine must have its own sticker." I wouldn't need to have one on my motorcycle since it's not primarily a dirt bike, it's a dual sport. Hello Mark , recently been watching some of your older videos . I have a question about your extended tow hitch system for your motorcycle . What kind , and any problems with it ? I am an older trucker and have a 2019 F350 with a steel flatbed , and a Honda CT 125 that weighs about 250 lbs. I use a Harbor Freight motorcycle carrier in the hitch in the back. When I get a camper , and it extends off the back , I will need an extended tow bar hitch . Have a great day ! looking for new videos from You !
I use the Curt 45048 Extension ( amzn.to/3YEGXgi ) to carry my motorcycle on my truck while hauling my camper. I've carried it this way for almost four years now. I've had no issues. I currently own a F250 as well and would love to carry my KTM out the back like you do. How much extension did you add and do you find it difficult to load/unload? At the time of the recording the road wasn't bad. It was grated and well maintained. If it was my car, I would take it. But I don't know what your comfort level is driving on dirt roads.

We get a Arizona State trust permit. $10 for a year. That way if you wonder over on state land you won't get in trouble.

I currently own a F250 as well and would love to carry my KTM out the back like you do. How much extension did you add and do you find it difficult to load/unload? I was also looking into the front mounted hitch and carrier. Would appreciate a video? Thanks!

At the time of the recording the road wasn't bad. It was grated and well maintained. If it was my car, I would take it. But I don't know what your comfort level is driving on dirt roads.
