Alright, here’s what I think. Anyone who’s heard WayV’s song "frequency", “High Five” has nothing but good things to say about it-they love it! But honestly, so many people don’t even know WayV exists. It’s like they’re living under a rock. The fact that they’re the part of NCT one of the popular k-pop group, yet they're underrated. And it isn’t just because of one reason; it’s a whole mix of things. Their popularity definitely took a hit after Lucas’s scandal, and when he left, a lot of his fans left the fandom too. Then there’s the issue with how they’re promoted. Because they’re a Chinese unit, (but they're more like a global unit though) people assume they only make Chinese music, so fans who are more into K-pop don’t even give them a chance. And then there’s Ten’s solo fandom. Not just his, but all the members’ solo fandoms play a role here too. Ten is by far one of the most popular member of WayV and NCT, and his solo fans often focus only on his work. Some of them don’t support WayV as a group because they feel like SM over-relies on Ten to carry the group. I get why they’re upset at SM for the mistreatment, but taking it out on the group just doesn’t sit right with me. But the other's fandoms are not innocent either the hate towards ten and his fandom getting more and more because of their jealously and seeing how ten's fandom is huge and so supportive of him kinda makes them insecure:/ All these reasons, and probably a hundred more, contribute to why WayV is underrated and why their views are so low. It’s frustrating because they’re so talented and deserve so much more recognition. I really hope this comeback will change things for the betterment. :)
I agree with almost everything you said. SM clearly relies on Ten to carry the group and his fans didn’t mind at first. But SM’s terrible management has made it unbearable. They barely promote Ten’s solo work. Even major events like YSL weren’t retweeted, while 127 and Dream often promote their members. WayV only gets attention for group activities. In 8 years, Ten has never had proper solo promotion anywhere including Thailand. Every time he works there he leaves immediately with no time for his family. Meanwhile, other SM artists, even WayV members stay longer and promote better. Ten’s projects are always closed-door requiring fans to pay while others get public events that attract new fans. They appear on popular Thai shows or UA-cam channels which arranged by SMbut never for Ten Ten contributes so much but rarely gets credit from SM. Members or people around him have to mention his efforts. 10velys working behind the scenes know SM rejects many solo offers for Ten. Solo deals are difficult, expensive and treated differently from group work. This has been building for years. Many 10velys who once supported WayV no longer do. I don’t blame them coz it’s their money and time, wasted by SM’s incompetence. Banobagi recently pulled sponsorship from Universe League because SM shifted it from a Ten-only promotion to a WayV group event. I’m a solo stan but like all the members. WayV gets less support now because of SM. They should promote each artist individually helping them grow their fanbases which would also grow WayV’s. The LC incident pushed some fans away of course but WayV’s real problem is SM killing their momentum hiatuses, bad timing, poor promotions, and working with controversial brands. K-pop viewership is declining and NCT’s numbers are dropping especially WayV’s MVs where most views come from ads over the last 3-4 comebacks. Album sales are surprisingly stable increased especially this comeback tho I just hope the numbers are real
@Canele1427 I totally get where you're coming from, and I’m not blind to how SM has been mistreating Ten’s efforts either 🥺 I understand the frustration, but I don’t agree with people who don't want to support WayV just because of the company's mismanagement. If SM is putting all the group weight on Ten’s shoulders, that’s not their fault right? I really hope they can break free from that company because they definitely deserve better. Ten has been my bias since day one, and I love him just as much as his solo fandom does. It makes me happy to see people who love and support him unconditionally. But as a WayZenNi, I also feel for the whole group. They all deserve better. I just wish that solo fans, not just ten's but all the members' who don’t support WayV because of SM or whatever reason they have could rethink their position and show some support for the group. It doesn’t mean they have to support every individual member, but at least for their idols sake, it would be great if they could contribute to supporting WayV’s activities and help the whole team grow. They all need that support, and it’s what they truly deserve. It's just how I feel, I really appreciate all the fandoms whether it's solo or group for supporting their idols as long as they're not toxic.

Individual fans however, still found ways to support the group. Ten’s solo albums and merch consistently sell out first proving that many 10velys continue to support the group. In regions like Japan their support might even have increased. In truth, SM abandoned WayV first by ruining their momentum and opportunities. Poor management discouraged even the most loyal fans. NCTzens followed, never supporting WayV much, focusing instead on 127 and Dream. Claims of disinterest in Chinese music often mask deeper xenophobia or racism. WayV has likely missed its peak. Even with promotions significant growth is unlikely. Most members will probably wait out their contracts with Ten and Winwin likely leaving first. I hope they get the chance to tour globally especially in the US and Latin America before pursuing solo careers. As a solo stan, I’ll continue supporting the group until they part ways. Don’t be too upset. Sometimes even the most talented and hardworking don’t achieve massive success. That’s just life
