Better overall in design, battery and screen compared to any. If they upgrade it as it should, the camera would be same as good. Overall, still Xperia is true to life...

It is a step over the mark V in all aspects. I liked my V but the VI suits all my needs so much better. It is a well designed, well built phone, that has been my daily driver for the last 6 weeks and will stay so. The Vivo X100 Pro/Nubia Z60 Ultra are my secondary phones - the Xperia 1 VI is a brilliant phone as an everyday carry.

Coming from 1iii the new is so good camera,display,batterie,spiekers everything is so much better
and i compared it with samsung s23 ultra sony has finally made a good competitor for other brands

I have Xperia 1 V but I need long baterry life, so I have to make an upgrade to 1 VI.
You finally did it! Thank you. Love your videos and love the phone. I sold my Xiaomi 14 and got this one. And I am happy.
The Xiaomi is a really, really great phone with a perfect size but I like the Sony more.
Regarding the camera, I don't understand why Sony can't simply build the best cameras - as they are building such great compact cameras like the RX100 series.
But maybe they are saving it for the coming Pro-I II.
The ratio of the frame and the edges change the phone feel , it's very different in my hand between the V and VI. Do like the changes. Have tested against a few phones and find that Sony will be good in some shots and maybe a bit lacking against others (iPhone and Vivo). The Pro handling is much easier
Great phone. 3.5mm headphone socket, SD card slot, 4 years security updates, excellent screen, fantastic side mounted fps (jands down beats in screen FPS, though not as good as Apple faceid - android face unlock isn't so secure).
Nothing wrong with criticism i guess the 1v is to close but it is what it is. I got the 1vi today but have to use my 1iii for a while. For me it seems like a fair upgrade. I expect it to hold at least 4years. Other brands just felt sw weird or just to heavy. Thoughts for now is that they could have put a larger shutter for more light. Great rewieu.

@@joelconolly5574 On the one hand it's good that Sony equips the phone with a SD card slot, but on the other hand for the price providing just 256GB base storage is miserly.
Will be looking forward to comparison videos from yourself between this M-VI and the M-V and also the Pro-I, especially comparing between the max zooming and the zooming qualities 👍🏼

For the money, you could almost buy a OPPO x7 ultra and a vivo x100 pro. I do not understand how Sony is charging so much

Sony pays first world salaries for its team, designers, etc, while the Chines brands get off cheap, not to mention that it is making a more limited product in sales numbers.

Everyone says to vote with your wallet. Considering the xperias are pretty much the last flagship option that has microsd and a 3.5mm jack, there's basically no option for me. Finally jumped up from a S10+.
But the cameras isn´t good enough, the video was very low quality like a joke
@@PeterEk31 good enough for what exactly? I am not doing serious photography on my phone. I power use my phone for gaming, file storage, media, and music. For the occasional time i want to snap a picture of something the cameras are more than good enough, i have never and will never use a selfie cam (especially with a dedicated shutter button making blind selfies stupid easy). And for anything else, i have my canon mirrorless camera and a bag of expensive glass to go with it.
The camera on the Sony is disgusting absolutely rubbish
For someone who has Samsung S22 Ultra, I see no reason to buy this as it would be a downgrade in some situations of photo and video. The only plus is the headphone jack battery life and the possibility to expand the memory. Gonna have to wait another year as it's too small of an upgrade to spend that much on a phone that barely gives me anything of value over what I already have.

how is the proximity sensor? does the phone screen still activates itself in the pocket and messes up with the quick settings?

but the xperias have this major flaw, if you have the double tap on, the screen activates itself in the pocket even if the prevent accidental operations option is active. even worse, if you have the AOD active and the double tap to wake off. the double tap still works and the screen is activating in the pocket. I think you should cover these issues in one of your next xperia videos, I am sure some people from Sony are watching your videos and maybe will acknowledge these issues.
Why doesn’t the Home Screen rotate anymore .. we used to be able to do it on the 1 v … why is there no vibration mode when watching content anymore? There used to be on the 1 v … why can’t they reintroduce the notification light ? It used to appear on the 1 iv …
Why did they change the form factor ? As it’s still not as wide as some of the other phones ? What was the point ? I have the 1 vi bit I am not enamoured of I’m honest .. I have a week or so to get used to it … after that I have to send it back or keep it . The clocks ticking Sony !!!

Seems like it's larger because there is a slight bevel around the lens for the 1 VI.

I hope they will put in a quad deck like LG did in future phones. I came from a LG V60 but i like the Xperia 1 VI so far =)
I heard they improved the DAC on the 1 VI, but it's still not as good as the one used in the V60, or does it come close?
@@marasion0862 It sounds not so "rich" in my opinion but its all right. I haven't compared it in detail. I'm glad that sony still have a headphone jack in their flagships
@@marasion0862 but the sound of the normal speakers of the sony xperia VI are superior and i like them a lot
@@t0pa The front facing speakers make a difference, don't they? I'm using a Galaxy S22 Ultra and I definitely notice the speakers not being balanced - even with Dolby Atmos enabled, it's a 60 - 40 ratio top - bottom speaker
@@marasion0862 yeah the front speakers are really good on the sony xperia VI 😁 and they make a difference for an immersive experience

My impressions: THe change from 21:9 i could ignore, the 1080p low dpi screen i could laugh off but the AWFUL camera interface-even in its so-called pro mode being dumbed down for the idiot level is too much to take. No more Xperia for me if they keep up with this and ill be going back to my roots: Sony Cameras Nice first impressions though cheers
Still have the 4 but, i wont be upgrading to the 6 unless i can get at least £400 off.
I’d stick with the 4 mate … I reckon the 6 is definitely not the step up that we weee led to believe . I have had the 4, 5 and now 6 … the 4 had the hand y notification light which they removed for the 5 and 6 .. big mistake I think
Did anyone else also experience "micro stutters" while using the 1 vi?
If you scroll and wait for a few seconds, when you scroll again it stutters. This makes it feel like it is an old, strungling phone. Hope this can be fixed, because it is infuriating.
Did not experience that.
I'm really sorry for Sony that it still can't produce a noise-free camera phone in 2024. My iPhone 15 Pro takes very sharp and noise-free images and videos, even though it uses Sony sensors.

@@theSFCchannelWell, he doesn't get as many views on the videos compared to Apple or Samsung related videos. As such, he probably didn't bother to put as much afford into these videos as smaller channels like this or SomeGadgetGuy do ...
As far as the 1 VI is concerned, it's not released in the US
And they say the loudspeaker is better in Ví

Did not check out the iPhone 15 but I think the iPhone might have better stabilisation and low light performance. Xperia is good with constant bitrate and HDR (if you turn it on). iPhone on the other hand has Log video which is also very handy.

I used to love my Sony phone but they have just gone to expensive for what you are getting
Now Sony's camera interface back to xperia one. Just wondering what sperates its pro camera mode from other pro mode like Samsung, apple(dont know if they have), and other Chinese phone. On paper, all cameras are good, besides the sony 2 layer transistor sensor and Alpha Camera tech, anything else that makes Xperia camera pro mode stand out?
Its basically the Photo Pro app with a slightly different UI
@@lltechview I played around Samsung pro mode, pretty much similar controls are exposed as Xperia does. So the main difference could be just the sensor and post processing. Sony doesn't do too much post processing which is good.
@@drakegao1 Pro Modes usually expose the same controls. There are only fine details. Like Vivo allows for setting Sharpness or Oppo vignetting.
So how do you think Sony pro mode vs those phones? Sony is advertising the alpha camera on xperia as a main point. If it doesn't really separate themselves out enough, they might eventually catch less attention globally.

Damn. Really liked the slim "candy bar" shape of the mkV. Shame they've decided to go wider with the newer one and release yet another phone that is uncomfortable to hold. I was gonna buy this based on the candy bar shape but now? Nahhh.

@@lltechview it's maybe because of my 4K display, but almost all the photos have problem with sharpness, exposure. I have seen some other reviews from other UA-camrs and the photos were different, better. Will try in few days when mine will arrive. No offense, just saying

Also ich will dir wirklich nichts böses, aber deine Bilder sehen aus als ob ich die mit den Füßen gemacht hätte 😅..... Wenn du ein Makro Foto machen möchtest, dann gehe doch mal auf Telemakro Modus und dann wähle einfach mal so 170 mm aus. Dann stellst du die peaking Funktion ein. Jetzt suchst du dir einen Käfer oder etwas was sich langsam bewegt. Dann stellst du den Fokus auf ganz nah und jetzt gehst du so lange am besten gut abgestützt auf dein Objekt zu, bis es komplett im Fokus ist ( immer auf viel Licht achten) wenn du alles richtig gemacht hast, bekommst du ein Ergebnis was dich erstaunen wird. Ich habe schon genug Beispiel Fotos auf Facebook hochgeladen, da sieht man ja was möglich ist. Und die Belichtung ist ja auch easy. Das tolle an der neuen App ist jetzt ja, dass im Pro Modus separat gespeichert wird. Also dort habe ich die Belichtung auf -0,3 und immer auf RAW stehen. Die Belichtungsmessung funktioniert besser als beim 1v und achte mal auf den Autofokus! Der ist jetzt sowas von verbessert. Das ist wirklich krass..... Das Display ist ja wohl auch eine ganz andere Liga, nicht nur wegen der Helligkeit. Das ist eines der besten Displays überhaupt momentan. Der Zoom ist auch besser als beim 1v, allerdings sehr auf kurze Distanzen getrimmt würde ich sagen. Portraits z.B. werden schon ziemlich gut.... Lautsprecher sind ja wohl auch deutlich besser .....Du bist einfach zu negativ dem Gerät gegenüber eingestellt würde ich sagen😅 Aber wenn das hier ein halbes Update war, was war denn dann ein S24ULTRA oder iPhone 15 Pro. Also ich hatte das Pro i und habe es geliebt. Ich fand es bis auf die miserable Akkulaufzeit und das zu dunkle Display besser als das 1V. Der Autofokus z.B. war einfach besser. Das 1vi ist aber deutlich besser als das Pro i. Ich denke manchmal hat man einfach kein Bock auf ein gewisses Gerät, bei mir war es genau andersrum weil ich mit dem 1V einfach nicht richtig warm geworden bin. Das neue Format finde ich auch besser. Also für mich gibt's kaum noch was zu verbessern, außer die relativ kleinen Sensoren bei 16 und 85-170mm.... Andererseits würde dann der Makro Modus nicht mehr so gut funktionieren schätze ich und wie gesagt, dieser ist unglaublich.
Die sehen doch ok aus. Aber ja. Mit dem Baby im Arm aus der Hüfte geschossen ist was schwierig.
Das kann ich nachvollziehen, herzlichen glückwunsch erstmal dazu!.... Versuch das wirklich mal mit dem Makros die bekomme ich mittlerweile sowas von gut hin. Ich habe die Augen von einer Fliege fotografiert, gestochen scharf und einfach nur krass wie man die Facetten sieht. Im Automatikmodus ist mir aufgefallen, dass wenn du zum Beispiel sehr helle Objekte wie den Himmel fotografierst du dem Telefon durchaus eine Gedenksekunde erlauben musst damit es die Belichtung optimal einstellt. Die Vorschau finde ich jetzt viel besser als beim one Mark five also du siehst wirklich wie das Bild wird. Im Automatikmodus wird jetzt allerdings mehr nachgeschärft und stärker überarbeitet. Ich nutze aber sowieso nur den Pro Modus was Fotos angeht und da ist das nicht so, wobei auch die RAW-Dateien jetzt einfach mehr vor bearbeitet werden.
Hi, kannst du mir das bitte genauer erklären warum bei größerem Sensor die Makros nicht mehr so gut funktionieren sollen? Ein x7 ultra hat größere Sensoren und da werden die Makros auch gut🤔...., danke 👍, lg
@@michaelhuber2013 Was heißt nicht gut..... Du kannst halt 4 cm an ein Objekt ran und die Tiefenschärfe ist jetzt schon so gering, dass ich mir nicht vorstellen kann wie man bei einem größeren Sensor so noch etwas fokussieren kann. Und dadurch sehen die Makros beim Xperia schon ziemlich einzigartig aus. Du kannst z.B. nur die Ränder einer Blume scharf stellen und der Rest wird schön unscharf. Ich habe z.B. auch tolle Fotos von den Stempeln einer Blüte freigestellt und der Rest ist wunderbar unscharf. Einfach schön....Dazu sehen die Makros halt richtig natürlich aus. Bei den Chinesischen Wettbewerbern mit Telemakro sieht das ja mehr nach KI als nach echten Fotos aus. Guck dir die Bilder Mal genauer an. Das mag erstmal beeindruckend aussehen ist aber total unnatürlich.
@@sosiehtesaus2652 Naja das Fotos vom Xperia natürlicher aussehen versteh ich, hab ja selber eines :), aber was meinst du mit Sensorgröße? Mehr Fläche oder mehr MP? Ich versteh den Zusammenhang nicht, oder warum soll das Fokuspeaking bei größerem Sensor nicht so gut funktionieren? Vorallem bei mehr MP müsste das Ergebnis doch deutlich besser werden, oder irre ich mich? Danke, lg Michael

Well, Galaxy S24 Ultra is much better choice for many reasons, especially in the countries where Sony doesn't sell their phones - absolute majority of countries around the world. S24U has better design, better screen, better zoom camera, much better software support, stylus and other features. And most importantly - it costs less and comes with 2 years of warranty (parallel imported Xperia - no warranty).

I thought Apple was stupid already by removing the charging brick but Sony was more stupid by removing not just the brick but the cable as well. No way Sony!
They are consistent at least. If you leave out the charger why shipping a cable. Does not make sense.
i'm still loving my Xperia 1 V and hope Sony will bring the 48MP and Macro in the next Android update because the hardware is already there

Interesting....You can see the 1VI screen flicker when he moves his hand by it and not the V
Still the same shitty lens for zooming that i have on my Xperia 1IV. They havent upgraded it since the iii just tbe zoom range. Same for the wide angle. If you have a iii and above this is a skip. I hate the zoom on my 1IV i try and zoom in to get some snaps on my dog and its always blury.

There all too small the 3 sensors. Until they upgrade all the sensors I won't buy another Sony phone. Samsung did the same thing with the sensor trick always using the same sensor every time they brought a new phone out no innovation anymore from anyone apart from the Chinese brands
Grew tired of Sony phones. Especially at such high prices. I left Sony and went for pixels, it's been some years now. Only buy Sony phones after their price goes down a lot
And are you satisfied with the camera performance of Pixel phones? They go the opposite direction of Sony by introducing lots of post processing.
@@lltechview They are just excellent, even pixel 5 takes better pictures than xperia 1v. Only downside I can find in pixel is their processors, the Tensor ones, and even that on my pixel 8 pro it generally not overheats, when you are on mobile data, and you upload the videos you take so they can be uploaded to google servers and then again be downloaded to your phone as much better overall, it takes too much battery and overheats a lot!
As an iPhone user:
This device is everything I would my device want to be - except for Android which just isn’t visually pleasing to me, it looks chaotic and not well-structured 🥲😀
That's interesting, to me a lot of areas in iOS are not well structured and quite clunky ...
