Balancing what to go for and how to get the most points is really something that comes with time. Same in Wingspan. Sometimes it's just not worth it to pursue a bonus card (in wingspan) or an end of round goal (in both games), if you sacrifice points elsewhere. So knowing what to pursue and what to let go is really part of the learning curve.
My oldest also has a thing about birds so Wingspan just would never hit our table, as much as I think our family would enjoy it otherwise. Wyrmspan seems like it would be a good fit for us with that in mind. The only real concern I'd have after that is if it's playable on a normal-sized kitchen table as that's where we do most of our gaming. :)
Interesting the thing that Meg didn't like I don't think will affect me since I'm only going to play it 2 players most of the time but at the same time suffers from the non refreshing row issue. Maybe in 2 players it needs a rule that refreshes the market each round?
At all player counts you do refresh the cards at the start of each round. I think the issue Meg is referring to is that over the course of six or more turns in around the cards weren't refreshing fast enough. Wingspan expansions added a refresh ability in the row activation which could help
@@davidrendsburg9363 Yes, I forgot but that is correct! Honestly, there were some turns I would have spent a coin just to refresh the market, but I'm sure we all wish we could do certain things in games
None of the cards mattering and not being that interesting is why Endless Winter fell so flat for us. It was a hodge-podge of mechanics, but overall just didn't work good enough. Is Dune Imperium the one that is often in these comparisons? LOL, Meg got it in the end. Shame on Alex missing it. :)
Your thoughts about the cards not feeling unique or special is actually exactly why I didn’t love Wingspan, especially when compared to Everdell. I just have no attachment to any of the cards, and as a result they just felt very random
Based on everything I've seen this is a better game than Wingspan. I absolutely like it better. However it's not so much better than Wingspan that I'd buy this and get rid of Wingspan, especially as my family loves Wingspan and I'm all in on Wingspan.
This is near the top of my list now because of the way you guys and our friends have talked about it, especially in it being better than wingspan. The theme was enough to keep me from getting wingspan but the theme for wyrmspan is the cherry on top for me.
Seems like it plays best at 2-3 and has low player interaction with uninteresting cards (besides the art). I think I will stick with Wingspan: Asia for now.
I bought "Wingspan", I won't buy another "Wingspan". Also, those dragon pictures and the art style is pretty bad. Also, "Wingspan" wasn't that great in my experience.
I know I tend to tilt my head to the side every time, it might just be where your focus is. My head is connected to my neck though, which, coincidentally, is attached to my chest.
@@ProfessorMeg my focus is on the games. It's your body and obviously, you can do with it whatever you choose. My comment was unnecessary and I apologize if I offended you. I enjoy your opinions on games and look forward to more videos in the future.

Absolutely agree
Hair matching the board! Purrfection
Lol, we do what we can
not falling for it! i'll wait a while.
I've always been a fan of waiting, see what outlasts the hype
I'm so glad you included those last few seconds!
Lol yep
I’ll grab this when there’s a sale, looking forward to it as it’s more complex than Wingspan. I’m tired of spamming eggs in Wingspan.

Wingspan is my most played games of all, and that wont change anytime soon, but I'm excited to play this for a different take.
Most played of all time is always a feat
I haven't played Wingspan yet. I want to try both.
it's a great game! one my favs

Honestly, at 2 player I would house rule that!

Lol yep, good call
I agree with the adjacency dragons being are underwhelming, probably never worth doing.
Yeah, there are a lot of work without enough payoff
Wyrmspan vs Earth. What do you think?
Thanks for taking the time to check out the game and share your thoughts for everyone!
The wingspan in comparison is the base game right? How does it compare to wingspan with expansions though? Cos it fixes the eggs issue
Doesn't have any expansions at the moment
yeah wingspan oceania in particular makes other strats than eggspamming more viable
I still love the base game too though
Interesting. Not caring about the cards is my main gripe with Earth but I seem to recall you liked that one just fine?
Not caring about cards is my gripe with both :) I like Wyrmspan more than Earth though.
Your thoughts about the cards not feeling unique or special is actually exactly why I didn’t love Wingspan, especially when compared to Everdell. I just have no attachment to any of the cards, and as a result they just felt very random
Wish they had chose a theme that appealed more to me, dragons aren’t really my thing and I already backed Dragon Eclipse from awaken realms
How do I be full of life like Meg?
I recommend a lot of energy
Would you say that you like Wyrmspan more than Raising Robots?
Unsure...likely very neck and neck

how will you play the expansions if you get rid of it in 6 months? 🐦🐉
Lol fair
Raising robots and biome are very similar to wingspan
Agreed on raising robots, I haven't played biome

Thanks for playing Wyrmspan with me at Level Up. We bought a copy and I’m excited to teach my game group.
What is with the graphics design on the cards? It does not showcase the art and feels... Pretty poorly thought out and executed.

For whatever it's worth, my complaint about uninteresting cards is exactly the same in wingspan 🙂
I bought "Wingspan", I won't buy another "Wingspan".

This would also apply with Dune Imperium, Everdell, and Terraforming Mars.
Stop trying to sell us the same game over again.
@@ScytheNoireI mean this isn’t the same game other than at the very base. There are 14 differences that change the game greatly from Wyrmspan.
@@Ian-R-Wilzsimilar amount of differences that CMON zombicide quotes

@ianwilz1979 wingspan for me is a 4/10. Yea I agree wyrmspan is much better, but I'm still unimpressed by 6/10
