This week we’re playing with toys that we weren’t allowed to have as kids, starting off with the Easy Bake Oven! We're going to be making an adorable, tiny, two-layer cake as well as a tiny cheese pizza! Will the food we make actually be edible?

I had the original Easy-Bake Oven (I'm old) and one of the most important things I learned looking back is how my Dad would eat a cake that was baked by a light bulb and tasted like sawdust and react like it was the most delicious gourmet pastry in the world. That is love, my friends.
I’m an Aussie and I used to see ads for these in my comic books in the 70s/80s I think, have they been around that long?
My mom had the original one as well and I got to use it a few times. It had a tiny Bundt pan and everything! So much fun! I should note that I am an avid baker these days

I love how safiya is always reassuring Tyler that when she teases him she’s never trying to embarrass him or anything 😭😭 I love them
I think it’s her anxiety overriding her playful teasing of her husband. Also, how she’s always playing with her hair and how serious her face gets when she thinks she’s not on camera.

I love that these live make us understand Tyler's personality much more. It's really interesting to see their interactions although clearly Safiya is worried people will criticise her since she mentioned micro-managing often. The dynamic is restored by Tyler's dad jokes and constant references which not being American I don't get but find hilarious.

Speaking of Narnia, my home town called Nairn, is where Tilda Swinton sometimes lives. One year we had a winter parade, and Tilda rode down the high street on a massive fake polar bear. The parade was called Nairnia 😂

So... the teen who made the petition was me! I'm a big fan of yours and it was so surreal hearing my name and the petition mentioned, getting Hasbro to change that was such a crazy experience. I actually did a TED talk where I talked about how, as a result of the petition, I ended up receiving a ton of super-toxic online hate, and it caused me to feel really weird about it in general, so it's really nice hearing it brought up in a positive light :) Just wanted to thank you for the mention, please stay awesome!

My daughter had an easy bake oven because I always wanted one when I was a little girl. I never bought the mixes for her oven ... I would give her a little part of whatever I was baking, and she would make it in her oven. We had fun.

@@cynthiaa5039 yes. with the mixes you are preparing a small amount of something. as long as you dont overfill the pan, it should work. There is only so much a large light bulb can do.

I am over twice Taylor age so I am a old women. Easy Bake Oven was what I really wanted back in 1967. I had one of the very 1st one that ever came out ... Lol . It was a light green oven .
Watching you two really bring back memories, you both really are great together, make me smile. My mom told my dad no I couldn't have on but my dad got 1 any way.
They have changed in sharp but the idea is the same thing. It was the beginning of my choice of job I ended up being a pastry cook.

When I was a kid I had an easy bake oven and it was pretty different from these! You could actually look inside and see the little lightbulb, I looked in often to make sure my food was under it properly. I also remember the scooper was like a claw thing that went under the round rim of the pan (they were round not rectangular). And the brownie was my favorite!

@@cassie6985 I love them both too, but yes there were a few times when I just politely wanted to say, take a breath Tyler, it’s ok, you don’t need to fill every second, some comfortable silences are also ok. I agree with someone else’s comment that maybe he had too much coffee too, that’s how it made me feel, a little overexcited and brain going really quickly.

Tyler seemed so nervous during this. I hope they get more comfortable during these live streams and with their staff. I love them so much and they always have the most creative ideas!

I love their relationship dynamic sm. Because obviously we always see the best side of it on camera, but then sometimes safiya will say “sorry for micromanaging” or something to that affect, and you can kind of tell it’s something she’s actually working on in their relationship. And it’s just such a good example of how healthy relationships should work-communication, mutual understanding, conscious effort. (I’m sure tyler does it as well, I just haven’t noticed it in these livestreams.) Also unrelated but tyler namedropping bertucci’s was everything 😭 I spent so many nights there growing up it was The family restaurant in my small town.
My favorite thing about these live streams is the way tyler looks at saf, I don't know that I've ever seen such a genuine look of love 💕

THE MENTION OF THE BUZZING REMINDED ME I WANTED TO COMMENT ON THE BUZZING
Completely forgot to say on the McDonalds candle video, I seem to remember Julien Solomita having issues in the beginning of his Aries Kitchen livestreams with his hotplate burner thing causing buzzing that only the viewers on that stream could hear. It wasnt audible for him on his own equipment, or on the reuploaded video after the live, but a lot of people during his lives used to complain of mic buzzing that was apparently somehow caused by his hotplate.
This is just an hour and forty seven minutes of Tyler being nervous
I'm 60 years old and I had an Easy Bake Oven back in the 60's. It looked like a light blue range with a small oven and powered by a 100 watt bulb. The cakes were an interesting kind of grainy stuff but tasty. IIRC, there was even pretzel mix. Y'all's oven doesn't even look like an oven! Love y'all!
Having a lonely Christmas this year but rewatching these old livestreams helps. Thanks for the escape!

Those who don't know what Oralverten (sorry I keep spelt it wrong) it is a powder that you mix into milk to make chocolate milk.

The candle eating was not a spoiler, in the Franken Candle (Bath & Body candle) Safiya ate a piece of the chocolate mint candle and declared it tasty
May be wrong, but the "candle eating" thing came in the narrative as early as the Lib Lab adventure in NYC, one of the very first videos, or something.

I’m also the older sister of a younger brother. He was definitely my minion until he was like 6. I also forced my brother to watch Gilmore Girls. I’ve loved that show since I was 9, and I got a journalism degree because I grew up wanting to be Rory Gilmore. Joke’s on me, though, because I don’t use my degree.

Oh the real rad toy growing up was the “boy” version of the easy bake oven. I don’t remember what it was called but it made little rubbery bug toys. You customized the colors, put it in the bug molds, and baked it. Then the finished bugs could stick onto surfaces without leaving a residue
