You've kicked some ass Lauren!! Who wouldn't get burned out?? Take time on dry land and the urge & need to set sail will return .. 84 days is a LOT !! Hi Miko!! Hey question: How does the Cat react & behave during the storms??
Hey Lauren! Here are some suggestions for fixing your pump wire issue. You will need a volt meter. Put it in DC voltage testing mode. Attach your negative on the voltmeter to the ground on your boat, turn the pump on, and touch the voltmeter positive to the positive wire on the pump. See if you are getting power, you should get a 12.x reading. IF not, you are dealing with possibly a bad wire or bad circuit breaker. If you do show voltage, then the pump is probably bad. Follow the line back to the panel. Test both sides of the circuit breaker. using the above-described method. If you are not 100% sure you are on the correct circuit, put the voltage meter in continuity mode. It is helpful to have a piece of wire with alligator clips on both ends. Attach one of your alligator clips to the positive wire on the pump, then attach the other alligator clip to one of your voltmeter leads. Holding the voltmeter, touch all of the positive wires on your panel. AS LONG AS there is not a break in the wire from the pump to the panel you will locate the correct line in the panel. If none of the wires show continuity, then you have to assume the wire is broken. At this point, I would take some spare wire, put a fuse in line in the wire, and wire from the panel directly to the pump to see if it comes on. If it does, you have a broken wire from the panel to the pump. You will have to run a new wire. That was long and I hope it helps!

Suggestion! Had a quick look down through the comments and no-one's recommended the rolly anchorage solution - take a line from mid-cleat or quarter cleat, or winch, to your anchor rode and pull in until you're head to swell, either port or stbd. Lie to a bridle independent of wind direction.
Great video, thanks for being real. Not many UA-camrs show all the anxiety, stress, ambition and passion for things they love. Keep it up Lauren and good luck to you!
Well, what can I say? You are tenacious and as strong a person I’ve ever witnessed conquering the seas with such seasoned skill. Your troubleshooting skills are out of this world dynamic; you may get a bit frustrated but you don’t give up. Boat builders would love to have you on their team! (Or anyone actually).
Been there....done that. Go get yourself a slip in a marina, turn on your AC and finish your projects. You're doing a hell of a job....trouble shooting can get frustrating....especially when you're sweating your ass off. Run a power wire straight from your breaker panel to the shower sump pump. If that clears your problem you have a problem in your lead so pull a new wire and be done with it. Good luck. It has been fun watching your journey.
Doing a thorough prep on a friends old boat, before a 3-4 day race, we had rebuilt everything essential for round the clock racing. The binnacle compass lights were dead, so I picked up radical new red LEDs and replaced them. And still no light. It took hours to figure out some bozo had wired up the binnacle power with zip wire(extension cord wire) and dead behind the engine bay, bozo had simply twisted and tapes the wires. Once we found that, it took no time to fix them forever. But wtf twists wires on a boat? The good news is that we also found a "secret antitheft switch" in another run of zip cord. Boats. You can't assume ANYTHING was ever done right.

Don’t know of your fridge situation, but the fridge insulation is key to your power and batteries. It's break time. Don't let maintenance seem like it's a chore. She's a boat, and pampering her is just part of loving her. Purchase a 12 volt test light and a 12volt tracer with two simple to use tools you can test and track down wiring issues quickly. If you have rebuildable pumps, have a spare impeller and pressure switch available. Other than that, get to Florida and once you've got your business taken care of kick back and just relax for a few days. It really does the soul good to shrug off our worries and get that centered focus back. I myself am just about to that same point. Not knocked down, but just like the rocking, there's so much we can take and then we need to step away from it all and regroup. Be safe and have some fun! 😊
Excellent advice Lauren. Troubleshooting doesn't have to be difficult. Break it down into simple components. Get some R&R. That will fix half of your problems. Love your spirit.

I've been home steading for over 10 years now so I understand the alone and the burnout aspects but if it's something that you truly love just keep going you'll see. It's tough.
Lauren, if there is no voltage at the shower pump but there is voltage at the terminals in the fuse box, there must be a switch between so when you turn the shower on the pump starts. I dont know what systems they use on boats but it could be a flow switch, so when you turn the shower control on a little water flows then it operates a flow switch which starts the pump? If the flow sswitch has failed you could rig a temp switch you turn on when you shower, it also could be a switch on the shower control knob? same applies you could rig a switch until you can get it fixed. The freezer compressor will turn off when the temp in the freezer has dropped to what it is set to, so maybe the thermostat is faulty? Unless it cant get rid of the heat? you mentioned a fan.
Everyone reaches a point of mental and/or physical exhaustion. Nothing to feel defeated about. Take a break to recharge, and remember, “no weapon used against you shall prosper”.
Thanks for sharing. I have a Beneteau 40.7 that has similar wiring. At times it is so frustrating. Sometimes I swear there are real gremlins living in the system. I appreciate what you are going through. Don’t give up You will win in the end
Awesome video girl!!! Take a break anytime you need one. You are the Captain of your journey you get to do it however You want to!!! You are amazing at making these videos for all of us to get a glimpse of your trip. Will be waiting to watch the next one whenever you get back!
I think your pretty remarkable of what you have achieved so far. But you need to get a good rest and proper couple of weeks good night sleep. When you start having accidents and losing things, it's your body telling you to slow down and your getting stressed. At sea you cannot afford to take that kind of risk! You don't need to prove anything to your followers, we are all still here, even in Scotland.😊
A couple of things on the shower pump: did you disconnect the shower pump before checking for voltage?....if not disconnect pump and look again....if yes on voltage jump line to a differeny pump in the boat and see if it works...if it does the line is fine....if still no voltage you will have to chase and check any connections to find where the break is.....if the line was ever spliced or a new line run for some reason that is probably where you will find the problem as the connection was probably not done correctly and it corroded over time.....also you could run a lamp cord or some other piece of wiring across the cabin from main terminal block to pump and see if the pump works.....possibly a temp way of using the shower till you get the time to chase the wiring....you are a real force to be able to do what you are doing.....you give the term super woman a whole new prospective.....
Living on the water, your bound to loose things in the water. Sounds like you just need a break and go to land for an adventure. Don’t give up. Tommorow is another adventure and dull periods are self awareness. Thx for the tips and struggles on your journeys. The water scenes are fantastic and winter can be dull. Cheers
Hey Lauren sorry to see you and Mako going through this crap!!! Hope you feel better soon!!! You need a Makomaran!!! Cat-amaran lol… I could see you in a cool little Prout 34 to 44. They are a good boat at a very nice price…
Absolutely love seeing your cat…and I’m not even a cat person.😊 You never see shots of cats on boats-so thanks!!! You go girl. 70 year old retired teacher here, and so enjoying all your videos. Stay safe and happy.♥️
Windy days on a boat can be frustrating but windy nights on a boat night after night can really make it unbearable! The peace and calm after the wind makes it all worth while and then sleep is achievable 😂
Enjoy your break. I hope you recharge, and reset, so you can rejoice when you get back! You seem like such a kind spirit so I always hope you are happy and fulfilled.
Lauren, Run a couple of temporary wires from the pump to the battery with clips on the ends so you can shower. At least it will give you a little relief until you figure it out.
Voltage is needed to make it able for current to flow. Current make the pumps turn. Bad connection can show the correct voltage but there can be almost no current flow. Pumps draw easy like 10A and while starting to spin even more. Take a 12V lamp (highest wattage you have, at least 20W , the bigger the better) Connect 2 wires to it. Connect one to the minus of the batteries, then probe with the other the pump connection closest to the batteries (in your switch board) If the lamp does not turn on, or just weak, there is something limiting the current. In that case check the connections between battery and the connection you tested. Check switches and fuses and fuseholders (resistance measurement or by using the lichtbulb, does it burn before the switch and also after the switch). Cabels generally do not break if they are in pipes. Most problems are in switches and connections. To much resistance causes a voltdrop and current limit. If it is 1 ohm, and the pump pulls 10A you loose 10 x 1 = 10V over that 1 ohm (f.i,. in a switch, corroded connection, loose screw etc) and a pump will not run at 2V (I use 12V as an example, the principle is the same for 24V) If the wires are long and thin you also loose voltage there. A connection that is not 100% fresh can in such a case be just to much) It is also possible the pumps are bad and cause to much current draw. Try them direct connected to a battery. If they do not run the pumps are bad. If you have a current clamp you can measure current through cables, often that gives more information as voltage alone, if you measure both you will always find the problem. If you have questions let me know. (I repair industrial and maritime electronics ,so finding electronic problems is daily business) I live on a boat too
Honestly don't know what to say. I don't think I've seen you like this before. I was always fascinated by the energy and drive with which you overcame obstacles. Hope you can regain your strength and continue your journey.

Lauren is an amazing young woman willing to share a part of her life with viewers who can watch for free without buying anything. She has put a huge amount of sweat equity into her boat and you must realize it takes a great deal of time and effort to shoot and edit content for her channel. I think these cruiser channels are wonderful and the content creators behind them have heart, work ethic, great mechanical & seamanship skills, and wonderful personality. For heaven’s sake, even Lauren’s cat Mako is a star!
Good for you! Living vicariously here...must be tough sometimes...but - wow!
Staying another season in the Caribbean is a great decision. Get the most out of where you are is always a good thing on a boat.
We will miss you. Heal up, and get well, mentally and spiritually. Thank you for sharing your journey with us ❤
I follow expedition evans as well. It is so cool they know you. Cheers
Hi Lauren, everyone needs a change sometimes. Your a brave courageous young women, capable of so much. Just like the boat, sometimes you need to recharge your batteries when the sun isn't shining. Give Mako some extra tuna, he has been a real trooper. Have fun in Florida and relax. Send us a short from Florida so we can see the bright beautiful smile. Thank and good luck.
Suggestion! Had a quick look down through the comments and no-one's recommended the rolly anchorage solution - take a line from mid-cleat or quarter cleat, or winch, to your anchor rode and pull in until you're head to swell, either port or stbd. Lie to a bridle independent of wind direction.
I know exactly what it feels like to be alone and overwhelmed. You're doing great and inspiring me!
Aww haha thank you
Been there....done that.
Thanks!
Thank you!!
Enjoy your break Lauren. ❤
Step by step La, best wishes for you; with love and a smile, God bless you.
Living a life where the same things happen over and over again in a small space every day is difficult. I am someone who has experienced it. cheer up
Doing a thorough prep on a friends old boat, before a 3-4 day race, we had rebuilt everything essential for round the clock racing.
Definition of Cruising…
Fixing your boat in paradise😎
I’m currently in Pago Pago, America Samoa waiting for some parts for a few days then heading to Fiji.
Don’t know of your fridge situation, but the fridge insulation is key to your power and batteries. I rebuilt my box twice before I got it right ( only because Mexico had poor insulation when I did it the first time.
With 400W solar
400 amphrs usable firefly batteries
I am usually charged at anchor before 10am
Underway by noon
Underway using radar for tracking weather, by 1pm
If there is no sun I can go a week before sun, or charge with Honda or engine.
I do have a google drive folder packed with fridge insulation info including spreadsheets for accurately calculating daily amphr loads, etc. and cruising guides/ info in the south pacific if you are headed that way.
Boat mechanics, sailing, diving, and travel have been a lifetime passion for me as I went to school for Aerospace Eng., Physics, Computer science with emphasis in thermal dynamics, and heat transfer…
Yup, go take care of yourself. You've certainly earned it. ❤
Blessings sent. 😊 ⛵
Thanks for sharing the up’s and downs.I hope all your projects go well. ❤
We were just at Prickly Bay learning to sail at LTD-Living The Dream and we live Grenada, one of our classmates was Allison, owner of Paradise Beach Club-Carriacou and we became good friends, if you get a chance you need to stop in, she’s awesome!!!!
We’ll be at the Annapolis Boat show, hope to see you there!!
From what i have seen of you, you are unbreakable. True grit and a great spirit will never stop. Keep doing what you are doing. You now have 120,000 people that believe in you. I told you when you were at 60k you would get to a million. I truly believe that.
Aww thank you ❤️❤️
just invite me to the 1 million subscriber party. @@laurenlanders
Exactly. I love boat work… so that’s why I’m taking the break ☺️
@laurenlanders Yeah, I know that feeling. They are more than just a boat or a home. They become a part of us.
Or we, them. I've never figured that one out yet. I hope that you are recharged and full of positive energy now. It's so much easier to work on our loves when we have a smile on our faces and happiness in our hearts. Fair winds sister, you've got this.
I have ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT that you will pull through anything! Everyone needs a break. You're far FAR braver than I will ever be. I've also no doubt that you will come back stronger than ever!! And I'll be here for it! The black bikini was a nice touch. Hot af as always. Love Mako so much. 💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
Lauren, maybe find a sailing partner that shares the same enthusiasm for sailing and adventure. One that compliments your life, life is better with shared experiences
Sometimes we need to step away and let go. I have always found that wen I do this the solutions come much easier. As like most people we are always harder on ourselves than anyone else is, so give yourself a break. What you are doing is amazing, and you should never forget that. I hope you get your batteries charged while you are in Florida. Much love.
Check or replace the capacitor that runs the fan next to the compressor for your freezer. It’s a 1”x2” black rectangle with two black wires.
W0W! Lots of UPS & DOWNS ... ..
Your adventures and transparency are an inspiration to us all. Life is hard sometimes! Sometimes you have make contact with that other life to back the perspective you need. Rock on you...and have a great break! 🤘🔥
🙏🏼
I’ve got to get you some ball bearings to place around on your boat so you have something to listen to just big enough not to clog up the intakes of the scuffers. Oh they came out with the new iPhone 15 and it can handle three inches of saltwater before it no longer needs to be charged.
I’ll keep praying for your safety…
Hello Lauren,
Good to see your still living your dream with Mako. Hard projects, solved, must feel very comforting. Yachting has lots of unique challenges. Great work with the videos. You still Happy being solo?? How's Soul de Mar? Feeling like a crab that needs to shed its shell to grow yet? Bigger Business in a larger shell. What do you think about catamarans? Stability has it's benefits. More room for Mako to explore & nap in. I missed your videos. Your an incredible sailor & you should enjoy your success. You've earned it.
Lauren, you’re young and have a whole life ahead of you. This breaking point will not be your last one. It are rimples in life we need to surf, so we can retrospective about the past and adjust for the future.
It will get you stronger, more connected to yourself.
Set your (sub)goals over a longer period of time and relax more in between.
Maby partner up for a while with someone you trust?
Peace
Wow, I just found your blog/ video, you are an amazing women, you have the ability to take on challenges and overcome conflicts. Every person needs to take a time out here and there in life to regroup. I am confident you will be stronger and more focused after your break. Can’t wait to see the future you bring to us in your adventure. God-speed!
🙏🏼
Heya, watched all 86 vlogs so I'm back to the future. go and rest you earned it. hope to see you again after you recovered
"Suns out guns out! " Getting good land-based workouts is key when you're on a confined boat for long periods. Soothes the mind and body. When in doubt, take a step back. The ocean isn't going anywhere.
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Lauren check all your ground connections, pull a temporary ground wire and see if that runs the pump. If not take a cheap multimeter and follow wire until break found.😊 probably rusty butt connection
Tired and frustrated for sure:( Glad you posted this because it shows you are real. Pushing back the Pacific is the right thing to do, hoping you get recharged and refreshed soon.
Aw thank you
Starting the new chapter of your life sounds exciting. Good luck!
I liveaboard in Key West. It's been a long hot summer..Sometimes you just wanna quit..
😂 for real
Thanks Lauren take aye break mate mako wants one two best of luck 🤞
Enjoy your time away sister. Breaks are needed during the journey. Be safe, have fun and enjoy the AC.
🙌🏼🙏🏼
So glad you get to go home…. Take you time. We will be here when you get back…. You provide a break FOR ALL OF US!
Awesome video girl!!! Take a break anytime you need one. You are the Captain of your journey you get to do it however You want to!!! You are amazing at making these videos for all of us to get a glimpse of your trip. Will be waiting to watch the next one whenever you get back!
🙏🏼🙏🏼
I think your pretty remarkable of what you have achieved so far. But you need to get a good rest and proper couple of weeks good night sleep. When you start having accidents and losing things, it's your body telling you to slow down and your getting stressed. At sea you cannot afford to take that kind of risk! You don't need to prove anything to your followers, we are all still here, even in Scotland.😊
Brave, hardworking, inspiring young woman.
Dreamlike!
You have got this ❤. The world needs more Lauren.
Wow Lauren, take it easy, as for the rolling have you thought of setting up a swell bridal? It might help.
Не унывайте Лорен ! Вы красивая девушка и светлая душа Все у Вас будет хорошо 😊 ! Удачи Вам!
I'm about 2 weeks from back surgery . Could be worse.. your my fav!
Aww hope you’re healing quick
The video of Maco llisting 20 deg from port to starboard was funny. Poor Furball
Put the boat on the hard and take a break
Congrats on making this leg of your journey. You are one tough lady.
Enjoy your R&R and keeps the vids coming anyway.
🙏🏼
Living on the water, your bound to loose things in the water. Sounds like you just need a break and go to land for an adventure. Don’t give up. Tommorow is another adventure and dull periods are self awareness. Thx for the tips and struggles on your journeys. The water scenes are fantastic and winter can be dull. Cheers
Another amazing adventure, fair winds!
I cant imagine myself tackling all you do in that boat when I was your age.
Hey Lauren sorry to see you and Mako going through this crap!!! Hope you feel better soon!!! You need a Makomaran!!! Cat-amaran lol… I could see you in a cool little Prout 34 to 44. They are a good boat at a very nice price…
No matter how much we like the activity we are doing, sometimes we need to step back, take a deep breath, relax and do a personal reset.
🙏🏼
Absolutely love seeing your cat…and I’m not even a cat person.😊
You never see shots of cats on boats-so thanks!!!
You go girl. 70 year old retired teacher here, and so enjoying all your videos.
Stay safe and happy.♥️
Sailing with the black Popeye I had to take a break as well. Take a break and get back to it when you are ready, dont stay to long, good luck
🫶🏼
Increible!!!!! saludos desde Argentina!!
You are a very hard working little doll, tough cookie too. And your kitty is awesome.
You will be ok. It’s just the downs that go with the ups.
Thanks for letting us know what it is really like on a boat that size alone. All the best.
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Lauren, Run a couple of temporary wires from the pump to the battery with clips on the ends so you can shower. At least it will give you a little relief until you figure it out.
I'm new to your channel, Glad you got a break !! You have a strong work ethic... Look forward to more of your episodes
A connection that is not 100% fresh can in such a case be just to much)
It is also possible the pumps are bad and cause to much current draw.
