    In that soil, the 820 could pull a 8 bottom plow!

      Gracias.
Gracias, altra vez.

      @@jonelsonster Hello, thanks for answering..!! I live in Argentina and here some models did not arrive. very few JOHN DEERE wins, EL A the R. the 730 Diesel. the first ones were imported then they were manufactured here. there are very many at work. even a man made the clutch on foot and sold the reforms. the 820 some exist.

    The 820 was hard to lug down when my dad went with the 4 cyl. Jd I hated it . Soon as it started working a little hard it wanted to lug down .

      I've heard several people comment saying the 820 and 830 were better workhorses in the field than the newer generation 4010 and they used a quarter the fuel.

  • @wandahelmer1038
    @wandahelmer1038 2 роки тому +1

    The 820 is what we used to pull our 4 bottom plow it would plow all day and not brake the bank on fuel. That was 46 years ago.

    • @jonelsonster
      @jonelsonster  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, those 2 cylinder diesels are very stingy on fuel. We're have a JD 70 Diesel that measures 56 HP on the Dyno and we've never been able to burn more than 2 gallons of fuel per hour... No matter how hard we work it.

    Never see those 2 way plows in Wisconsin, were they to keep field level for irrigation?

    • @jonelsonster
      @jonelsonster  3 роки тому

      I'm not sure if it was specifically for irrigation reasons, but it is nice to not have a dead furrow since you can always turn the soil the same direction regardless of which direction you are driving. The field is nice and level and smooth when you're done. The bummer about plow days is that we only ever use one side of the plow since there are other tractors driving down the field behind you. You can't really turn around and start driving back unless you're the only person in the field.

    The 820 would easily handle a 5 bottom in that dirt.

  • @bombardier3qtrlbpsi
    @bombardier3qtrlbpsi 10 місяців тому

    In that soil I would think a 5 bottom would be ok.

    • @jonelsonster

      You're probably right. It is quite sandy and had already been plowed the fall before.

    Love the Deere! Looking at how the ground is in some spots, there are some plows not set right and some that are so shallow that you could do as good a job with a garden hoe.

    • @jonelsonster
      @jonelsonster  2 роки тому

      Yeah, that's to be expected when you have a group of people plowing with equipment in different states of repair or condition. Some plows are really nice and cut nice and clean and deep... Others are old and worn out. We're just trying to have fun.

    Nice video; looks like a lot of fun out there. That little international seems to pull a single just fine, but that ground looks really mellow. I’m considering a single-bottom for my 20 hp JD 750, do you think it can handle it, even on tougher soil?

    • @jonelsonster
      @jonelsonster  3 роки тому

      Old rule of thumb is you need 1hp for every inch of plow. So you should be able to pull a single 12" no problem. A single 14" could be doable too, but you couldn't go as deep.
