- It seems like everyone has been checking out guitars from the as-seen-on-Amazon brand, Fesley. So I got them to send me the FST-350, a super-strat-inspired guitar, to demo.

Scarred My Guitar and Bald Shredder were among the firsts to help this company launch the guitar and make a lot of improvements and resolve initial QC issues. I think the subject of the fret size has come up dating back to their first model’s launch - and it’s a fair criticism. It seems lots of budget guitar brands use vintage frets because it’s easier to source and less expensive- but there are budget models that have super jumbo and medium jumbo frets too. I do hope they’ll take that to heart because modern players want larger frets so our fingers and strings aren’t scraping wood, lol.
I’m sure you already aware, but Fesley did something similar to a certain Canadian UA-camr recently who ended up buying a Fesley LP style himself so he could make a video and speak freely about how he felt. Fesley apparently paid Ryan from 60 Cycle his full $800 asking fee and then they tried to bargain this certain Canadian guy’s fees down. Do they think all of you don’t talk to each other?!
Now they said they’d pay you and then they only sent you the guitar? I was very excited about this company, but the business practices are starting to take a nosedive. The initial first wave of UA-camrs that they worked with happened not to take fees or got their asking fee (as far as I know). A fee isn’t meant to be bargained down. It takes you all considerable work and time to film and edit these videos. Fesley really needs to realize that no matter how decent these guitars might be at its price point, they would not have success without all of you helping them advertise and spread word - and they need to pay you all fairly if you are asking for that.
Like this other unnamed UA-camr who called them out by paying for a guitar and then giving it away, you are a class act - you still made the video even when they didn’t pay you for your time as initially stated because you care for people to get a decent budget guitar. It also takes guts to tell people that the company is trying to lowball all of you so people who have the option can vote with their wallets.
If people are looking for another great budget option, Scar My Guitar recommends FoJill highly - and yes, they come with jumbo frets! In fact, they even have roasted maple necks and much more that you’d never expect on a guitar of its price point.
Hey honestly they were pretty frustrating to work with, but a lot of these "sold on amazon" brands are. At first they talked me down to a very low price and then they came back with the bait and switch. I was pretty pissed about it. Then they told me they wanted to send me a completely different guitar and I told them I wasn't interested.
It's good for the money, ultimately, but I think the frets are a bit of a fatal flaw, considering what they're trying to market this as.
sometimes i click on these videos just to receive a compliment and try to learn it by heart for later use hahaha
thanks for the videos emily!!
Awww thank you!!! I'm so glad to bring some joy 💜
Redish purple heart is called amaranth and used as a cheap rosewood replacement. So long as you dont remove the top coating it looks nice
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day Emily ❤😊
I think I heard a pinging sound when you were show us us the sound of the strings scratching agains the fretboard. The nut slots may have been filed a little bit too narrow as well!
Also, awesome video and being candid about the product!
At $150 if it holds tune and has a reasonable action, what more could you ask for? I wonder how these guitars compare to the $150 Samicks that were everywhere in the early 90s.
"Beginner" guitars are sooooo much better than they were in the 70's when I was a kid. I am jealous of all the new players that will never experience playing a guitar with action so high you could stick a pencil under the 12th fret and it wouldn't make a sound, and finger misery that would accompany it :) Keep doing what you are doing, I really enjoy your videos thank you!
I think ultimately it's a good guitar for the money. I think with some work it could be a great player and mod platform if desired. Only thing I see/hear on my end is the bridge pickup seems very bright and almost piercing in its tone. I would definitely play with the pickup height and maybe change the capacitor on that tone pot as you mentioned. Definitely sounded good otherwise! Thank you for the awesome demo Emily! : )
I agree, it'd be a great mod platform. I'd be curious to check out the switchable cap that Mythos Pedals sells.
@@GetOffset That would be awesome! I have to get a couple of those myself.
Ever since I saw an artist calling out Fesley for photoshopping their guitar into his hands and using his photograph in an ad without his permission, I don't think I'd every buy one. I don't want anything to do with a company that pulls shady crap like that.
Fair
Were you playing a Polaris song at the beginning? Thanks for the review.
I was! "Hey Sandy"
"Emily tries but misunderstands she's often inclined to follow somebody's dreams till tomorrow"
150 bucks or 1000 bucks.. you always have to do something to the bastards just so you can play them.
It never ends.
Pickups Sound like cheesecake
What does cheesecake sound like?
@@GetOffset Sweet & creamy.
I think electric guitars have too many variables.. even having a volume knob is too complicated.. it should just have a pickup.. just a pick up going directly to the plug hole.. nothing else
Steel wool those frets...0000 steel wool...then oil..will be alot better...😊
Sounds to me like these guys are ashamed of their guitars....that is not a good way to present your instruments. So, as shady as they are acting on Amazon, Temu, and other places I've seen them....along with the fact that they said they would pay you and then took that back tells me they are not worth buying from. Leo Jaymz was much more open to things, and I believe he would stand by his word if he told you something.
