I’m new to the sport, I was a lecturer in animal care and we used pigeons in lots of different lessons. From husbandry, training, welfare, health and disease but as I had no idea about racing we didn’t race them. Why are colleges not competing in college pigeon clubs. This is a unique opportunity for learners to work with pigeons and enjoy the racing. I’m 41 years old and only had one season, I LOVE the sport but it is soooooo prehistoric and disorganised, it needs to be reborn and some younger blood and ideas implemented to survive, the old guys are incredible and so passionate but if this sport is to continue we need to bring it to 2025 and start using more technology and have a clear marketing strategy on growing number. I talk to so many people about this who now love the idea but the infrastructure only suits the older demographic. Please keep up the work Dan, we need you and so does pigeon racing
A quarter past the century and I just printed an ARPU membership application which had to be reformated to be fillable, put a $30 tellers check in it and mailed it. There is a huge generational gap right now because of the resistance to change and the lack of keeping up with the modern world/technology. Coolest hobby ever but the inconvenience at every turn within the governing body is killing it.
I thought about getting pigeons. I had a loft build, but it is empty. Do you know any good breeders to get birds off, or would you sell them, and i also join a club this year
I'd speak to fanciers in your local club. For your first pigeons I wouldn't spend much at all. Most decent fanciers would breed you some and now is the time to organise it 👍🏼
Yo i got some stock birds and they are all pitbulls a good breed i was wondering if you could race some for me as young birds and i could get them back at the end of the season? @pigeonracerTV
When it come to the timer and the light it’s was always better for me to have my lights come on at midnight and go off at 0700. I lost eggs and babies before because I originally set the lights to come on at sundown and go off in the middle of the night. When the lights go off in the middle of the night sometimes the birds are off the nest and can’t get back and the eggs and babies freeze to death. The birds can naturally sit on the eggs at sundown. Just a suggestion so you don’t experience any losses.

You need a few droppers ones no good
If u put a wire door on that loft u could leave main door open in summer
