AFLW crowds have never ever been lower than what they are today. But still the AFL and Legacy Media continue to tell us that the game is growing. Misinformation at its most extreme.
These women deserve equal pay. Just like women get in Tennis, Soccer and at the Olympic Games. Come on AFL you love showing off how woke you are here is your chance?
Correction: In tennis there is only equal pay in the Slams because they have given in to pressure, which means the men players are paying for the lion share of the women's prize money. In soccer there is no equal pay, although at the world cup the women receive three times as much from the revenue than the men do, but because the men generate umpteen times more revenue they still receive a lot more than the women do. At the Olympic Games there are no payments from the IOC. Fact is that in almost all sports the women don't generate much revenue, so you can't expect them to receive what the men get. In the AFL the women are effectively sponsored by the men because gate receipts, tv rights and sponsorships don't amount to much.
@@gustaaf1892 Women generate hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer grants for the AFL Clubs. Before the AFLW most AFL training grounds were rundown now they are luxurious. Women at the Aus Open play shorter games and get equal pay. The Stawell Gift is another example where the women run much slower times but still get equal pay. The AFL needs to follow the leads of these progressive sports before they get left behind.
@@Kylie-dt8rp You are either confused or deluded. Women are entitled to get their fair share of revenue. Generally speaking women's sport is of such low quality relative to the men that they don't generate much interest and therefore don't generate much revenue. It is just not very exciting to watch. Slower, lower skill level etc etc. Just have a look at the crowds that attend AFLW games compared to AFL. The ticket prices are much lower, but people still don't turn up. Sponsorships are small and the tv rights would be practically given away to get the games to air. Equal pay would therefore be utterly ridiculous. The AFL won't get left behind other sports. It is and will remain the 2nd biggest sport in Australia. I already said that tennis gave in to pressure at the slams for no reason, but that's about it. Even Serena Williams admitted that she wouldn't be able to beat the 700th ranked male player because men's tennis is a different sport. She also said that she'd lose 6-0 6-0 in ten minutes to a top ranked male player. Do you also want all actors in a movie to all get the same pay? Should all players at any professional sports club all receive the same pay? Should all women across the entire AFLW all receive exactly the same pay. Perhaps you long for communism to be introduced to ensure no one gets more than anyone else, no matter what. I prefer to base payments on a merit principle.
@@gustaaf1892 What you're saying all makes sense, but you are forgetting two very important things. Number 1 is that the AFLW players have generated hundreds of millions of dollars for all AFL clubs through Taxpayer grants for women in sport and the 2nd is that the AFL is not a business it is legally a tax exempt non for profit. So, your business arguments do not work here.
@@gustaaf1892 The AFL is not a Business they are a non for profit. This is not a minor point this is a major point. The AFL as a result pays no tax. Your talking about the AFL as if it was a business. Nobody in the mainstream legacy questions women in tennis or at events like the Stawell Gift getting equal pay. When AFLW players get equal pay the Media will not question it either.
AFLW is growing on me. Good job girls!

AFLW crowds really have fallen away. I think it might be time to bring back free admission as the crowds are getting embarrassing for the AFL.
