Best build for ruby is Haas claw, oricals, bloodlust axe if u have this three item you will become unkill-able unless you got stun or something like that,,after this 3 item give any other def. item depends on the enemy hero.. Ruby is good for roamer support and Tank.... Thankyou for listening my advice....
a common combo is by using skill 1 and dash in using passive and try to flicker ult then enemy into your team and after that use your second skill so that the enemy would have a harder time getting away

For ruby i recommend buy 2 vampire mallets before anything else this will allow you to hold your lane against basically anyone, you can then get oracle and from there either blood lust if you're still struggling to keep you health up or just go with defensive items from there on out
