- This ornament is carved in Lime wood and it is based on the classical Renaissance grotesque pattern.
I have taken inspiration both frome patterns carved in stone as well as painted ones from the Italian Renaissance. This specific ornament is to be gilded and then placed on a pilaser as a part of a interior decoration.

You have to be ambidextrous, or train yourself to carve with both left and right hands... This takes time, and is a serious skill! Excellent job!
fun to watch
Thank you for the comment and yes, it takes a while to get used to switch hands but after a "some" hours of carving, when you know your Tools and the material, it comes naturally. Saves time as well when carving, you dont have to spin the piece you are working on all the time.
Awsome woodcarving :)
Its a Hegner - multicut. The smaler version, if you need to cut longer pieces you can just tvist the sawblade with a plier and cut the piece in a angle.
I've been watching your videos for a couple of weeks now as I decided to start doing some wood carving. These are great for motivation haha as well as seeing some of the tricks and tools behind certain shapes and how to approach the wood [no pun intended ]. Komor Kommando approves! :) Skaal.
You are an amazing craftsman. Really!
