Man I never really thought I would like the blackstar products, but man this is about the 5th video iv watched and there all consistent in tone, I love it and will be buying on soon ! Thanks for the awesome video Tk !
The ibanez has a real crunch to it, but when you boosted the mids it became very muddy... the blackstar just seemed very smooth, crisp... Nice review TK!
I always am on the look out for the "red" tube king. I've heard some shoot outs between the old vs new and I think the old has a more classic tone while the new has a,well, new metal sound.
Hey Tone King, Loving your vids, keep 'em coming! I must say I'm somewhat impressed by all the Blackstar pedals. I myself am after a pop punk / paramore-esque sound... perhaps not metal enough for yourself! I'm torn between getting a HT Dist and a HT Drive and as much as I'd love to pick up both, one can simply not afford it. Which of the two would you recommend? I'm using a 72 Custom Deluxe Tele into a Marshall DSL100. Thanks!
TTk ive been searching for a great metal amp ive been looking at the orange terror amps, krank jr amps and marshall ma what do you recommend as a great metal amp that cleans up very good? thanks from Greg from Canada!!
The Ibanez tube king sounds much betteer if you change out the Chinese tobe that comes in it. I used a JJ tube and there was a big difference. More gain and a much warmer tone. The Blackstar was too dark for my taste. Very cool shootout!
Problem with blackstar having 300v on tube is that for Solid state amp its hard to give good sound but i guess for Ibanez 100v is making solid state amp sing
Are you saying the BlackStar doesn't sound good with Solid State Amps? I am considering buying one and using it through a solid state amp. Would that be a mistake?
the ibanez sounds pretty muddy and fuzzy! the blackstar sounds like a marshall in the vid, very rich harmonics-the absolute winner! how does it work with an overdrivepedals in front of it??? I like to dial a crunch sound and push it with a pedal as i do it with my marshall dsl 50... it would be great if you give me a short info, thanks!!
Blackstar sounds great but I'd say most of these OD pedals sound similar to the amps from the same company. Since I have a Blackstar amp, I'm not sure I want more of the same. :)
Our tone will be always subjective. While some people will like, some other will not. In my opinion, The Tone king tone is extremely muddy and none of the pedals sound good to me, not even the clean tone. But if that's the way he likes it, it's good, i respect that. I must say that this video doesn't do justice to none of these pedals.
It seems really cool to me, but it gets so much hate....I don't understand. I have a Blackstar HT-1 and I have been considering this pedal forever now -- I think it's a cool way to add some singing gain sounds without having to turn up the amp knobs in the middle of a song. The amp sounds fantastic on its own, so it makes sense to me to just add this on for a boost/added gain. Plus, who doesn't like looking at glowing tubes?!
I own the ibanez and can tell you the tube that it comes with is absolute crap. Hit eBay and pick up a good old Raytheon black plate or a RCA grey plate from 60's for around $30. It will totally transform the ibanez from meh to awesome. Blackstar, since I don't own, can't comment on but being it actual runs at full 300 voltage sure it would benefit from some real tubes a

Hope you and the TK family have a Happy Thanksgiving :-) Is the DIME Amp your playing through a Tube Amp? Something just doesn't sound right.

Blackstar sounds best for my tone
BLACKSTAR TK,,,the tube king is cool too...but the blackstar has more balls.

Tough call fellas... 2 different pedals... both great... but for my amp... I'd go with the Blackstar
So The Ibanez wont work with an analog Mixer ?
does anyone know ?
( feedback loop Video where a Guy is using Pedals and a Mixer )
watch?v=RVT-WMNB_xw
I haven't won that Dean YET???
Blackstar FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

I preferred the Ibanez! Have a great Thanksgiving, TK!

Tube King just got slaughtered... go Blackstar!!

I don’t know whether it’s the amp your playing through, but both pedals sound terrible 😞
Blackstar,for me has better,cleaner sound
@soccerguitarmex +1 I agree. It's a great pedal. A 3-in-1
Hello,
Tube King sounds almost like Tone King :) but BlackStar sounds better for me. Now I dream about BlackStar :)
I went with the ht drive and I love it.great pedal great tone. Thanks again TK

the ibanez sounds a wee bit fuzzzzyy. blackstar all the way lol
blackstar ftw

Great real world input! Thanks! :)
I'm liking the tube king better
272nd again. I am playing The Daily Three.
Blackstar sounds way better but of course this issue is completely about taste
Why all those cheesy effects?
It is really american vs british distortion, just a matter of opinion.
Nice~!
blackstar sounds way better to me
definitely ibanez tube king for me.,
They both have a cheap sound. Boutique pedals always sound better to my ears and are worth the additional expense.
Uau... que surra o Ibanez tomou! O Blackstar é IMPRESSIONANTE!
Poop!
