Hi Everyone. New video coming soon. This is an abridged version of my full TLB Mallorca video. There is no new content in this video, for those who have seen the full one. Recycling content will not be a common theme, though I felt it prudent to create a pared-down version for the folks who want the key facts in a more concise format. I may occasionally create Editor's Cuts of deep-dive reviews so this resource can be accessible to those who may not have the time to watch over 60 minutes of video.
I own 4 pairs of TLB shoes, one is the Scott II lace up boot. I had one pair of Allen Edmonds once. I sent them back. TLB makes the best shoe for the money and in fact I have shoes that cost twice as much that I don't wear. And Tony, the owner, is great to work with.
@@TheRushMethod Hi, do you mind asking if you paid any duty on tlb. Here in Canada I would be paying 250 bucks on a pair worth 700 Canadian as tax+duty. Thanking you in anticipation.
Love your production quality. Its almost insulting to TLB to compare it to AE. Other than the price, TLB is far and away superior. I wore AE shoes for 20+ years. And then I realized I could do better for my feet and my overall look. I own three pair of TLB shoes and they are the most comfortable shoes in my closet. Thank you Toni and team.
Thank you for the comment. I always appreciate your support. I agree. At some point in the future I may do a comparison series more geared toward the subtle differences in quality and value among the top international brands themselves. This comparison is primarily to help a wider spread of consumers understand both A) How much two "identical" dress shoes can differ in quality based on the sum of their details, and B) That they can get far higher quality for a similar price than what they are most likely considering for their purchase, given the ubiquity of Allen Edmonds in the US. Exploring value in the international market and how it compares to what is most accessible domestically will be a common theme for the channel.
Grateful I found you my friend, and it looks like early on in your YouTubing! Just had to stop and say thank you, definitely sold on the TLB’s. I love the details, even if I’m the only one in the room that sees them. Thanks again, keep going it’s only a matter of time. One
Loving the shoe content! Much like comparing TLB to AE, your content Chris is on another level. I don't wear dress shoes hardly ever, but man these videos make me want to get some TLBs and Yearns
Bought a pair and the fit is great for me. The instep is slightly higher than Carmina's, making TLB fit better than my Rain last shoes. Super happy. And your reviews are great! Keep it up, man. High quality stuff!
Excellent video. Although the shoes are similar, they are different in many ways. The TBL is a more refine shoe suitable for special occasions, on the other hand the AE are more of a work dress shoe. I own a pair of black oxfords from Meermin that are comfortable, but I do not believe they are for everyday wearing. In the future, I might look into TLB Mallorca even though I am a blue-collar worker and have limited occasions to dress fancy.
Yesterday, I received a pair of TLB Mallorca MTO wingtip oxfords (110 Cordovan). The shoe quality is mind-blowing. The cordovan leather is on another level. I may never buy another pair of off-the-rack dress shoes.
Damn, damn, damn! What a gorgeous pair of shoes! I already have two pair of TLB shoes. But this video is leading me to get another! Yes, they really are that great.
Been watching your videos for the past 3 days and I feel like I’m becoming an expert at what a quality shoe is!….was wondering how a cheaper pair of shoe like 80$-150$ compare next to one of those 400$ shoe I still haven’t found a video on UA-cam doing a comparison like that! I purchased 2 pairs or Stacy Adams and I now feel like I should have spent more for a better shoe!
Love you video. I really hope your video will help customer understand and appreciate high quality shoes and materials, because I can see a lot of them don't. They have no clue.
I have three pair of old Allen Edmonds shoes, which are fine and better than the newer AE shoes, in my opinion. I also have three pairs of TLB Mallorca shoes (derby, loafer, and split toe) purchasedin the last year or so. I have orthotics and can wear them with all the shoes (or not) including the AE brand. The TLB Mallorca shoes were great right out of the box. They are very comfortable and they look like works of art. They are a step above the AE (which are still quality shoes). The craftsmanship is apparent right from the very first look. I will be going back for a bespoke pair.
Wholecuts are nice, though they are a bit more flashy and best suited to more correspondingly exuberant events like galas, parties, etc. I don't personally have a pair.
Allen Edmonds used to be a popular brand in my area, but I've been told they were bought out yet again, and their leather quality isn't what it used to be.
Question about the stay stitch. Some shoes have this ugly tiny flap covering up the throat of the shoe as an alternative to the stay stitch. I think it makes the shoe look really dumpy. Is there a purpose to the flap that I'm ignorant about?
Great question. I also wondered this and feel similarly about it. Here is the answer from a shoemaker I know who I asked about this. "It simply ensures the tongue stays in the correct way underneath the facing. The circle or stitch design seems to be just aesthetic." I agree it looks a bit cheap and I typically see it on cheaper shoes, though I've seen a few nicer shoes with it too.
The size you bought at TLB Mallorca, is it equivalent to the size you wear in shoes from brands sold in the USA or is there a big difference in the shoe sizes? For example, what size do you wear in shoe brands from the USA? And what size did you have to buy at TLB Mallorca?
Yes they are equivalent. I am a UK7 / US8 in pretty much everything. I always suggest reaching out to the company, though or using their sizing guides. Region of the world isn't too much a factor as much as simply companies themselves. Any given company may vary in how they size simply due to their lasts, so it's always good to check directly with them on this.
Hard to say. I always suggest reaching out directly to the maker and/or following their websites sizing guides. That's the best way to ensure a good fit: www.tlbmallorca.com/pages/fitting-guide
@@michaelmalerba6292 I'm a UK7 / US8 is pretty much all dress shoes. It is fairly normal to size down 1 full size when going from sneakers to dress shoes. Though many people, especially in America, tend to wear oversized sneakers. Maybe that's what is going on. I would generally trust the shoemaker if they know your measurements. I think TLBM does size exchanges, so that helps.
Easily TLB for me. I think they do basically everything Carmina does, but better and for a lower price. Carmina tends to have more options, though, for those that can't find what they want with TLB.
No comparison here. Al's shoes are equivalent to the Western saddle . Tlb is clearly an English saddle. Also AEs are 175 fathers day sale Full retail 325 TLB 400+ and the new guys will always try harder Carmina would be a more fair comparison.
I was just about to point out the same thing. The real comparison should be with Carmina. Nobody is debating between TLB's and AE's; the real question is whether Carmina's are worth the extra $150 over TLB's. This is where the true value debate lies.

Yesterday I ordered a pair of Ichigo Ichie and a customized pair of TLB Mallorca due to your reviews.
Thanks for the great content.

Justo lo que necesitaba. Muy buen contenido, de mucha calidad. Qué buen canal!
I ordered this exact model and color just yesterday! So, happy to see your eloquent and detailed concurrence.
Hope you enjoy it!

OK. Just ordered it. You convinced me.
Love the videos!!! I’m here for the bonus points…Are you using a bar ice pick 😊
Winner winner chicken dinner!
I love your videos, what´s your thoughts of Wholecuts ? Would love to see a video about that kind.
Wholecuts are nice, though they are a bit more flashy and best suited to more correspondingly exuberant events like galas, parties, etc. I don't personally have a pair.
It would be nice to compare TLB with Carmina (AE quality is too low IMHO)
Great Video. I am 100% certain that utensil is a turkey thermometer. Yes I know I am a genius. I would like my bonus points..... Thanks
I am 100% certain you are wrong ;)

Excellent comparison. Did you size up or down from the AE to the TLB?
Same size, UK7, US8
Thank you.
I own both and agree with you. TLB is in another league.
God tier quality, I love your videos! How would you compare the quality of the Chelsea boots from R.M. Williams and the Chelsea's from TLB Mallorca?
TLB Mallorca easy win for me. R.M. is rather inflated imo.
AE was decent quality probably 20-30 years ago. Would not buy now. TLB to the moon!!!

A bit like American muscle car vs European true sport car (911, Ferrari, etc.), except the former dare to charge the same amt of $$
For me it’s hand welt or bust. Great brand for the price though
Day and night difference... Unfortunately I own a pair of AE park avenue but I never wear it... I'm ashamed to be seen in it!
What size would would you recommend me ordering? I wear 11 in Nike US.

Out of curiosity, what size do you take? The size they recommended me (6.5uk) sounded pretty small!
