This tutorial is so well done! I love that we can see the reference picture and your palette all in one shot. Thank you so much for your in-deph explanation on the color mixing process, it was really helpful and easy to follow ☺️👌👍
Thank you Will for this painting session, it's always a pleasure to watch your artistry, and now more than ever, very much appreciated. Wonderful video.
Brilliant painting. I discovered you channel and website recently and you have really inspired me to move from abstract to more figurative painting like still life and landscapes. Thank you!
I hope you come back more often with your professional tips. I find it very educational as you give tips. You always make very nice paintings. Have learned a lot from you in recent years. Love from Holland.
Good to see you back. I love your art and teaching style. Your tutorials are what helped me get started with acrylics a couple years ago, so thank you!
Thanks Will. I will spend the evening watching with some low music and candles. Will be a wonderful calming experience, much needed. Would not be where I am today as a lover of painting were it not for your tutorials.
Wonderful Will - a new tutorial from you! So well timed as NZ is currently in full lockdown few a few weeks and what greater time is there to paint - especially your so informative, beautiful lessons. What a gifted teacher and artist you are! I so appreciate that you give of your talent in these lessons to us learners. May you be blessed.
Thank you Will! Very relaxing but effective way of developing an artwork. Makes me feel like I can take off all the stress and fears and can get into making some art right now... Whenever I feel stressful about making art, I just try to remember why I loved to paint in the first place... This video just makes me feel so peaceful and relaxed, while making every steps and techniques so clear so I know where to start.... :-)
Another fantastic tutorial. Just finished your Absolute Beginner's Course and this was the perfect next step. Your step by step instruction is excellent and even when I think I can't do it, in the end it works out if I follow along. Wish I could get the loose brush strokes down better. Thank you.
I have watch all of your videos, more than one time each, so.... after so many biscuits... well, you know what happens. But at least I'm getting better at painting.
Fenomenal. Congratulations Will. One question, which one do you prefer in general, Heavy Body or Fluid / Soft Body acrylics? Is there any disadvantages in soft bodys? I've experimented only with liquitex basics which is in the middle of both, but idk which one I would prefer. It seems to me that the soft body are easier to blend and cover, and heavy body would be better for that finish, more brushy look, but at the same time, the thickness kinds of intimidates a bit for blending in the palette. I wanted your input on this because I'll have to order them online, without experimenting first. Thanks
All your tutorials are the best teaching ever. I watch them many times in different time period when I feel unsecure to paint. I watch them for practice. Your loose style is very difficult to achieve it if you don't continuously practice. It can easily turns out as unfinished painting. An amateur 's painting actually. Waiting to see your new studio finished.
Cool! Ok so is this called a study because of lack of detail or could you call it a painting ready to sell? I never would have imagined how a painting could look so good with so little detail and large brush strokes - I wanna do this!
Thank you! 🌺 Interesting With the supporting lines in the start! The pen with some umbra is new to me. Do you know if it is available also for Artisan, watermixable oil coulours ? Kind regards🌹 Marie-Anne
I am a newcomer to acrylic painting. Can I mix acrylic paint of different brands? What medium would you suggest for slowing down the drying time? Thank you a lot for your tutorial videos
Hi Tasos, yes you can mix different brands of acrylic paints. You can use a slow dry medium although many of them you can only use about 15% of the medium in with the paints. Also, a stay-wet palette can help to give you a longer working time on your palette. Will
Glad they have been helpful Ryan. Yes, a canvas will hold more moisture than an acrylic pad, and have more texture so can make the brushstrokes easier.
HI Will. My mum passed away recently and left me her acrylic paints and brushes so I thought Id give them ago, but as someone who normally just sketches and draws im finding them very difficult to use. They are mostly Winsor and Newton professional or Daler Rowney Cryla. Are they compatible ie can I use both brands in one painting and can i use them on watercolour paper? Im really enjoying your videos especially this one as I enjoy still life and natural subjects
Hi Lynn, so sorry to hear about your um, hope you're keeping well. Yes, you can intermix the brands of acrylics. You can use watercolour paper, but it may buckle depending on the weight of the paper and the amount of water used in the washes. Cheers, Will
Hi your videos are really helpful i was wondering if you could talk about cleaning brushes and taking care of them in a video because no matter what i do i can never clean my brushes completely and just when i think i did a good jo i see dried small pieces of acrylic paint and when i try to paint with it those come out and make the painting realky weird
Hi Nazanin, i tend to use a brush cleaner called masters brush cleaner which can really help to get all of the pigment out of the bristles. Cheers, Will
Water for diluting the paint for a more fluid consistency when I want a matte surface or glazing liquid when I want a bit more working time and blendability (I think that's a word!)
Many know how to paint, but few like Will know how to paint AND teach, that too with such a soothing tone! 🙏🏻
Thanks Bharadwaj, very kind of you.

Hi Marie, I don't know of a watermixable oil marker, but would be great!

@@willkempartschool Thank you so much for your reply. I remain stand by for any new inspiring tutorial of yours.
Your videos are helping no end:) Is there a major difference in painting on canvas compared to painting on a canvas-like acrylic pad?
Glad they have been helpful Ryan. Yes, a canvas will hold more moisture than an acrylic pad, and have more texture so can make the brushstrokes easier.
Great video!
Thanks so much

How do you decide when to use water or glazing liquid?
Water for diluting the paint for a more fluid consistency when I want a matte surface or glazing liquid when I want a bit more working time and blendability (I think that's a word!)

I got no biscuits left at home 😭
That's a sad day
