  • This second video illustrates the recovery we're talking about, combined with the back kick. Notice that I put a box so i can kick off the box. This is the same we would do in the water... kick off the back.
For the most part of practice, we try to recover smoothly, from the kick, bring it forward to the setup position. You probably get from the rythm how much time you have in the air so just take that much time to get up there. I personally don't love the snap and hang, because it breaks the momentum of the machine.
This is important because when we say go 100% vs 80% while keeping the same rate, we will be spending less time in the water, and more time in the air. If we dont recover smoothly, we'll have to hang more in front, and we've seen where timing goes when people have to hang... So when we go 100%, we have more air time, so we'd pull hard, kick off, and take more time to recover, reach a bit further, rotate a bit more, then put it in, pull HARD again.
What would happen if we always kept the same air time? Yes, that's correct, you'd likely hit hard at the entry, and then drag in the back.
