When the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake releases later this year, you HAVE to play it. Many people say it’s the absolute peak of the Mario RPGs, and for good reason.
@@horizonbumpy2828 At least this game made up for it by being comically self aware to the point of it going from cringe to really funny (due to this being mario's very first RPG). Also, TTYD was never really that hard. It's more the optional challenges that make it far more difficult. In my opinion, the reason for fighting things being gone did a far bigger scar on the franchise than the difficulty as Paper Mario games were never really about difficulty for me, so I get what you are saying.
Capture card delay can be avoided by using a HDMI splitter, 1 cable goes to the capture card. The other one goes into a monitor. Then play while watching the monitor, capture will be synced up fine, but you need to get audio from the monitor (either using headphones or speakers), using a headset on the Switch will prevent the capture card from getting any audio.
If he's using the Elgato capture cards there shouldn't be any significant delay unless he's using the new elgato software instead of the obs preview. There still will inevitably be SOME delay, but it's definitely not enough to make him constantly miss time stuff.
his VA title is still proved in this speedrun series, i really like that he makes different voice for different characters. its more enjoyable to watch his gameplay
I wish that when the definition for "overconfidence" appeared at 22:32, that there was either a 4th entry (or if one of the three was edited) that said "A slow and insidious killer."
Chrono Trigger is really good, it is made by the creators of final fantasy and dragon quest, the art is by Akira Toriyama the dragonball guy, and it has an interesting time travel mechanic. It also isn’t too long and is my favorite game.
The character switch-in mechanic reminds me of Mana Khemia. You generally only had like four characters in combat, but constantly had two others waiting. And instead of just doing a manual switch, they either defended from an attack or chained into a combo, and the ones they replaced were recovering mana and hp, waiting for their turn to come back to the front.
I'm really happy you did this, it's great to see you narrate it through that much and I know some parts you aren't confident with but you'll get there, some parts are genuinely hilarious the way you narrate it
The editing feels like a weird roller coaster. Most of the time it's chill and fun but occasionally it's just way to fast and you want to throw up. Besides that an entertaining video
I'd like to see Connor try the Metal Gear Solid series tbh. But I'm absolutely loving his dive into RPGs, it's great to see him get invested in the lore
I don know if he has the patience for a stealth game. I do think his brain is perfectly suited to fighting games (former chess player, competitive, monke), I'd like to see him try those. I don't know what the best way to introduce him is tho, there's the content way and then the actual real way.
Ahhh yes, the first rpg I ever played. I had started to think this game was a fever dream since no one really talks about it. Then my brother got the port to Wii U and now the remake came out. Laying the groundwork for the amazing Paper Mario on N64.
Mouse is such a poser for old games sometimes, i remember watching her stream right after this connor stream and she made fun of connor for playing this game and said she would never spend 12 hours playing a mario game lol
You should definitely play Chrono Trigger next. Very similar to this in that it's a nice tight story without too much fluff, and there's some sidequesty stuff that's worth doing to get the true ending.
Well, I think he should hold off the extra stuff for post-game (i.e. the Lost Sanctum and the Dimensional Vortexes) because of how repetitive they can be. The main story side quests are just fine, though.
well with this you just played one of the two very best rpg games from snes era, may as well play the other with chrono trigger Also shout out to the editors, this channel is a blessing with the ones of us that cant catch the live streams or are too long to witness it all, thank you!
I didn't have a suggestion last time, but I may as well mention Chained Echoes. I just finished it this past week. Pete played it last year when it was pretty new. Very heavily inspired by the JRPGs of the 1990s and early 2000s, so you might catch a few references. Depending on how much you do and how fast you are, you can beat it in anywhere from 30 - 40 hours. But most importantly, Baki's in it. I'm not joking. There are enemies in the game that are muscly giants literally named "Baki".
I remember the Mario & Luigi games on the DS also being really fun, if you wanted to check those out. Though I'm not sure how well you could stream it since those games tend to use the touch-screen and your "DS" may not have one.
Connor: *blaming his missed inputs on the capture card delay* Me, having also played the game through a capture card: I don't say this for the meme, that's an honest to god skill issue.
Connor legit play a main line SMT like Nocturne. The boys keep trying to get you into Persona, but SMT has all the demons and creepy occult otherworld stuff, but none of the highschool bs
After this my immediate thought was maybe that you'd love the first three or four mario and Luigi games. Only issue is that it would be hard to stream (aside from super star saga) due to DS/3DS controls at some parts
Would love to see Connor try out one of the Persona games, especially P5R or now P3R. It's a long sometimes mald session, but in my opinion it's one of the best JRPG's out there
Babe wake up, new monke video's up
Literally
Oog 🦍

it's pretty great but my nostalgia goggles demand I defend the original Paper Mario as my preferred game haha
TTYD and Superstar Saga are god tier
hopefully nintendo won't make it piss easy compared to the original like this one

Super Paper Mario on the Wii is probably my favourite of the series
I love these long form, RPG focused videos. The retro games and storylines are great, and ConnorDawg Voice Actor is so good for voicing the characters
Hampburger 🍔

A late night Connor video? Don't mind if I do! Nothing better than to be watching some monke content while in the pjs next to a heater.
Chrono Trigger is really good, it is made by the creators of final fantasy and dragon quest, the art is by Akira Toriyama the dragonball guy, and it has an interesting time travel mechanic. It also isn’t too long and is my favorite game.
Yea like you barely have to grind in that game outside like 2-3 places
Chrono Trigger is probably the best time travel RPG ever made with the best designed bosses.
Yep that is my favourite rpg game, that game is awesome
Bro called Toriyama the dragon ball guy😂
@@stereokuuji What else could he have been called?
(1:52) Connor's Toad voice sounds like Shaggy
Really cant wait to see final fantasy 7 supercut! Good luck Mudan!
1:19:38 bro THAT'S PERFECT! I did NOT expect Nenechi there!

I'd love to see Connor take on a mainline SMT game just for the guaranteed rage moments.
I'm really happy you did this, it's great to see you narrate it through that much and I know some parts you aren't confident with but you'll get there, some parts are genuinely hilarious the way you narrate it
and just when i thought my day couldnt get any worse, connor uploads
My condolences.
The editing feels like a weird roller coaster. Most of the time it's chill and fun but occasionally it's just way to fast and you want to throw up. Besides that an entertaining video
i was thinking the same thing.
I hope the thumbnail artist is getting paid well, their work is amazing
Rest assured they are.
If you want story rich, I recommend LISA the Painful and Omori. They take less than 20 hours. Really good rpgs
Bold of you to assume that Connor is a person that actually cares about the story when he plays video games
Bro would rather play genshin then have a story driven game
I'd like to see Connor try the Metal Gear Solid series tbh. But I'm absolutely loving his dive into RPGs, it's great to see him get invested in the lore

Anyone else having a hard time falling asleep?
I appreciate the monke for the lighthearted random yelling this time of night.
The new rpg arc has been killer content. The vods being uploaded is awesome as well.
First half: endless list of chores
Second half: puzzle hell
"I blocked that. I swear I blocked that"
He says while the combo meter counts up and the block animation plays.
This game unlocked a personal spot in my heart and it’s pure rage.
I liked the Megumin edits
9:56 NAHHH EDITOR COOKED WITH THAT GENSHIN DISS💀
Awesome VAing and editing!
time for Connor to dive into the trails series! It's gonna be a long one LOL
Ahhh yes, the first rpg I ever played. I had started to think this game was a fever dream since no one really talks about it. Then my brother got the port to Wii U and now the remake came out. Laying the groundwork for the amazing Paper Mario on N64.
love these gamer videos, keep em coming!
I remember seeing how excited ironmouse was watching the trailer release for this. This game will always have a special place in my heart.
Mouse is such a poser for old games sometimes, i remember watching her stream right after this connor stream and she made fun of connor for playing this game and said she would never spend 12 hours playing a mario game lol
Sometimes I expect Connor to break into a Radio DJ monologue while I operate a hospital.
I am right now playing Digital Devil Saga for the first time and I am enjoying it a lot. I can recommend it if you are not afraid of harder JRPGs
Dragon Quest 11 is one of my favorite games of all time, and it definitely is underrated. Love to see Connor play it at some point.
I just thought I’d let you know really enjoy your contentcontent The voice acting is incredible 👍
This has always been one of my favorites this game is so good.
RPGs rule, so glad you're getting into them! And we get long videos as a bonus! :D
Really love the Mary Skelter series as first person dungeon crawlers. For many reasons, Mary Skelter 2 is the best starting point.
I would love to see him tackle the Trails series its a good rpg wondering if he would enjoy it since there are so many sequels to it
Connor said that he doesn't like fighting games, but I think he already got everything he needs to be a great fighting games player lol 18:43
A one and a half hour video with this much editing is insane.
I'd definitely like to see you play One Piece Odyssey for your next RPG.
Classic Connor, still choking and struggling at a children’s puzzle rpg game
If you’re getting into more RPG’s, I would _love_ to see you play Chrono Trigger at some point. By every metric it’s an absolute masterpiece.
For something a little more in the spirit of Fear and Hunger, I recommend trying out LISA the Painful
You should definitely play Chrono Trigger next. Very similar to this in that it's a nice tight story without too much fluff, and there's some sidequesty stuff that's worth doing to get the true ending.

Luigi was done dirty
well with this you just played one of the two very best rpg games from snes era, may as well play the other with chrono trigger
Also shout out to the editors, this channel is a blessing with the ones of us that cant catch the live streams or are too long to witness it all, thank you!
I can appreciate Connors toad voices. I know arin kinda MADE the voice. But I love how his voices characterize them in a personal way.
I didn't have a suggestion last time, but I may as well mention Chained Echoes. I just finished it this past week. Pete played it last year when it was pretty new. Very heavily inspired by the JRPGs of the 1990s and early 2000s, so you might catch a few references.

I love these voices Connor is giving to the characters
There was a lot of megumin in this video and i appreciate that, i love this girl
Giving Mallow the voice of a 50 year old chain smoking union worker is peak.
Every time Connor says 'Smithy', I'm seeing a milkbag with a propeller hat in my head.
More RPG playthroughs!! 😍 I love this content
Cant wait to see connor playing Chrono Trigger too
Your Chancellor voice is on point
Connor: *blaming his missed inputs on the capture card delay*
Me, having also played the game through a capture card: I don't say this for the meme, that's an honest to god skill issue.
Thank you for playing this Connor. Now I don't have to spend the $60 only to tap out halfway through because I lost interest.
This seems to be a rather epic gaming moment
Get this man to play crone trigger lol
nice vid, since you asked for suggestions, i recommend playing digital devil saga, its really good.
You'll always be Frogfucious to me Frog Sage
Respect for the editor for going through 12 hours of choke footage multiple times o7
good job monke, keep up these bangers
While Connor was voicing Toad in the beginning my fiancé, in the other room, thought I was watching the Muppets lol
He ain’t called CDawgVA for nothing, the voice acting in this video is truly ✨exquisite✨
The thumbnail is a piece of art.❤
I recommend Omori if you want to get into more RPGs. It’s got just a hint of depression too. So always a fun time.
this gon be a banger
Funny how Connor goes all in on the RPG games.
Wait this is litterally ffx
Connor legit play a main line SMT like Nocturne. The boys keep trying to get you into Persona, but SMT has all the demons and creepy occult otherworld stuff, but none of the highschool bs
there are no heroes in the canonical mario universe. maybe beards are considered evil in this universe
Connor talking Princess Peach's lines sounded like Winnie the Pooh
I'll watch more later got crap to do and gotta go shopping, love you Connor, very fun watching your stuff, tell iron mouse I love her too
Also 56:56 and 1:02:41 Connor out here speaking Royalese (Tiny Toons reference)
truly unhinged Mr. Dawg 41:33-41:38
That King Nimbus voice acting OMG I'm dying 🤣🤣🤣
I can't imagine Connor playing Xenoblade, which is like a 50 hour movie each game lol
Look, everybody. The funny Welsh monke man has regaled us with a new adventure from the land of the rising sun. Truly riveting.
editing goes crazy for a 12 hour vod
Longer videos are a blessing
Do Earthbound, that's a great game to play for RPG's and JRPG's
Love when you did that smeagol like voice for the frog
I love that Mouse' YIPPIE has become a staple like everywhere in the trash taste cinematic universe now lol
Connor and Kingdom Hearts 2 would be all i want in this life
After this my immediate thought was maybe that you'd love the first three or four mario and Luigi games. Only issue is that it would be hard to stream (aside from super star saga) due to DS/3DS controls at some parts
This is absolutely one of my favorite Mario games
Connor should play Star Ocean Second Story R
Finally, retribution for Connor not giving a shit about what happens in the game and then being forced to have to remember shit about the game 🤗
I can whole-heartedly recommend Final Fantasy 10 or Dragon Quest 11 if you are looking for JRPGs.
I watch not for the RPGs but for Connor to do Voice Acting
I'd recommend Chrono Trigger one day down the line.
When he was reading for peach sometimes he sounded like Pooh lol
Ya know, from the first time I played the original well over 20 years ago to today, never once did I imagine Booster with a Scottish accent.
They did Luigi dirty by not including him
Would love to see Connor try out one of the Persona games, especially P5R or now P3R. It's a long sometimes mald session, but in my opinion it's one of the best JRPG's out there
I would really like to see Connor play Omori since it's also an rpg game as well. Glad he's invested in the rpg genre
