  • Rasaki Aladokun, from a Yorubá drumming family of Nigeria (in West Africa), grew up following his father as a drummer for traditional religious festivities, community events, and entertainment. As a young man, he joined the group of King Sunny Adé, "King of Juju Music," and toured the world with him.
Later, Rasaki settled down in Oakland, California (USA) where he continues to drum and is passing on this tradition to three of his four children. Here is the trailer for the 30 minute documentary we have made about him, his rhythms, and his culture. We believe it will interest percussionists (and actually, all musicians) plus African Americans, since many have Yorubá roots.
