the fact that the mom said she was lazy after she was hospitalized.. this is why its so important to talk and learn about depression. it is a real problem!
it truly is. people who suffer from heavy depression can’t even get up to go to the bathroom, shower themselves or brush their teeth. some of them even pee themselves because of that. it’s so heartbreaking to see.
Some time other person make u depressed, it's really need a someone who can understand I'll person, life is short as well as long. Medical thing are far better then drugs things.
"Her mom couldn't understand and called her lazy" that hits hard. Even this lady who's practically a stranger empathize better. I hope we develop a safer place for more people to open up and won't be ashamed about their dark days, everybody needs help. Thank you for doing this ❤
Honestly these are the kind of people who deserve to be sponsored. And it would make me feel better about buying from a company that supports things like this
For sure! Nice people helping nice people helping nice people. I know the girl will have a better life and pay it forward too. Nothing political or racial about. Just people who could help be a solution to someone's problem. Without judgement. It's so refreshing.
I'm suffering from depression and struggle to keep my house clean. but seeing your videos gave me the motivation to clean, cause they remind me that no mess is so bad that it can't be cleaned, today I cleaned my living room for the first time in a year. it feels good. thank you for all you do
Same! I don’t have depression, but adhd and my adhd makes me be very messy and at the same time when there’s a mess makes me feel extremely overwhelmed by everything and I often feel like it’s impossible for me to clean. My little sister helped me really clean my room at home a few days ago, which was amazing. Couldn’t have done it alone. It’s so important that you ask people for help if you can’t do it alone❤️ the right people will take their time and help you. All the best with your depression. I hope it gets better❤️
Even the laziest person wouldn't live in such condition for years. This isn't laziness, this is mental illness and I hope the woman is getting the help and support she needs! You did a fantastic job with this house, Auri! 💕
@@mirandapanda5439 I've been saying the same thing for years. Laziness doesn't exist. Chronic mental and physical illnesses/disorders do, and they cause the inability to practice the most basic of self care. No one would just choose to live life so miserably. Laziness is based off the idea that the person gets something out of the situation. What on Earth could be the benefit of living in such conditions ? There are zero benefits, nothing is gained, it's only suffering.
I had an ex roommate that was absolutely disgusting and then he would get mad cuz he couldn't figure out why nobody wanted him sitting in their chairs or why nobody wanted to stick around for long periods of time. He would sleep on his bed sideways and he had never washed the sheets you could literally smell his room it was just ridiculous it had the whole house stinking on top of that he didn't wash so his bed had the imprint of him on it. Yet he was disgusted by feet and dirty bathrooms.
I think this mess is also used as reason to feel instant shame of yourself, like torture and self harm. And this cycle of shame and weakness is lasts till someone can help.
I am in a deep depression currently and having trouble getting up and even bathing or working or exercising, haven't cleaned in almost a year and your video really is helping me start. Thank you for inspiring me and making me feel less alone and that I deserve a clean home. You are an angel to help people suffering from this horrible mental illness.
@@blueillager thank you so much, I do too, trying everything and seeing a doctor after I get my blood work done next week, hope they can find a source of the issue, I am having a gut feeling that its thyroid being low but gotta find out for sure, I appreciate the kind words and vibes
You are not alone! I have been there too! Depression is hard to deal with but you WILL get through it. 😊👍💕 If this encouragement helps I’d like to just say that whatever you do, do not compare yourself to anyone you know or online because 99.9% of the pictures people post are only happy looking and half of those are probably faked. I don’t think anybody wants the rest of the world to know how difficult life is when they/we are struggling so they put a happy face on it, but it’s a challenge designed to grow us and we all go through them. You are LOVED by our Creator and He will never leave you.
for me it's not only about her doing it for free: it's about her doing it without judgements. she respects the owners feelings, make them feel valid and give them a new, fresh and clean beginning for them to start over. its about her telling stories that make other people realise they are not alone. thanks for your hard work, auri, you're one of the most amazing women i ever met.
That's why i try and let the ads run completely through so Auri gets as much money as possible. She really deserves to become rich by doing what she is doing ☺️
as someone who has struggled with severe mental illness(es) i can completely understand this persons situation. sometimes it was hard for me to get up out of bed let alone take out the trash, make my bed, fold clothes, etc etc. you’re so incredibly kind, and im sure you’ve impacted their life greatly, thank you!
I love how she doesn’t judge people about the way their house looks, instead she’s wonderfully kind about all of it, I imagine how good that would feel for the person who’s house it is
@@jelenavukovic6121 your the only person who thinks that. This person went through a lot and depression is a mental illness but it’s still an illness your allowed to have an opinion but just letting you know it’s not the woman’s fault
It hurts to have people, let alone a parent, not understand that there's something clearly quite wrong and it's not "just laziness" when a person's apartment gets into this kind of a shape.
I also suffer from crippling depression. I've had plenty of days, weeks and months where I had no energy or interest in anything. I also have no support system in my life except for myself. But even with my depression my house has never gotten to this point. Allot of time's people get into bad habbits for years. If you never developed a cleaning habbit then you won't clean in general.
I suffer from severe OCD and major depressive disorder. I lived like this before. I've been in my current place for around 4 years and haven't unpacked my boxes. I can't have family or friends over. It's embarrassing. My family does not understand why I am this way. I, too, have been called lazy and told that OCD is not a real thing and I should snap out of the depression. I am so grateful for people like you that have an abundance of compassion toward others and don't judge them. Thank you for all that you do!
I think the positive language she uses is incredibly important. It is non-judgmental and compassionate. It is dirt, and it is perfectly fixable. Even if there is so much guilt and shame and pain connected to it for the people who have to live in it. Such a wonderful sweet person.
I was so much pleased to learn about the sponsorship of Scrub Daddy. After this, I am determined to buy the products of this company and to support the company in its future sponsorship activities. And special thanks to you, Katarina for helping people to return to their normal life and enjoy it!
This is incredible work. As a professional hoard cleaner, this is a HUGE job. At our company we would consider this a level 5, which is as bad as it gets. It is indeed extremely expensive to pay for a service to come in and do trash removal AND deep cleaning. The fact the mother wasn't supporting the daughter and her illness is wild. Just remember folks, this is a SYMPTOM of severe illness and should be recognized as such. Severe pain is what causes someone to become accepting of these living conditions. Don't forget to check up on your family members and attempt to see through red flags that someone might be showing in order to keep people away from their homes. I do crime scene cleaning as well, and there's hundreds of cases where they have passed in their home due to the severely dirty conditions of a home. They need support and care to get them through these situations. Please respect people who show symptoms like this. They hurt enough already without your judgement. Thank you for taking care of this woman and all of her worries. This is HUGE to be doing for free, it's seriously a heroic acts.
I can’t believe she did this with only one other person! Pretty remarkable, and I can completely understand why someone would lose control of a situation like this on their own.
I have an old neighbour like this. Actually, she lives one floor below. I heard her life story and wrote her a letter. And I did ask her to accept the offer of a whole building block to pay for extreme deep cleaning. It was the first time in years she said she allowed something. She said clean up my balcony... and then that never happened. We have to tolerate the awful smell in the summer and pest coming from her apartment. I have small kids and we can't move anywhere else. Do you have some advice on how to approach her? I my country hoarding is not officially recognized and no institution is responsible for this.
I've never seen a comment that sums it up so perfectly. Shows like Hoarders have created such a negative stigma around situations like these. I love that this girl spreads awareness that putting aside judgement and just helping out a little can go a long way 💜
I used to let my apartment get pretty bad when I was struggling with depression and I remember looking at the mess and feeling like I didn't even know where to start. I felt like it was so messy, it wasn't even worth trying to clean. These videos are so comforting to me because they reassure me that there isn't any mess that can't be fixed. Thank you so much.
Hopefully things are better for you. Remember it’s not that you allow the mess to happen the mess takes over. Once you get help you can think clearly to address the mess a little by little. I applaud people like this who reach out and ask for help and people like you for sharing their experiences in this forum.
@@AliPrieta Thank you so much! I needed to hear that! It's so easy for me to label myself as "lazy" or "a slob" and get mad at myself for messiness during depressive episodes. It is so good to be reassured that this isn't my fault. It's a medical issue. The mess can take over some times but everything is fixable.
Never ever look at the entire thing. Choose one corner, one box, one surface and focus on that. Set little realistic goals. It could be only the clothes, only the shoes, a trash bag, whatever. If you experience the feeling of success today with a little task, it will be so much easier to make another baby step the next day. Aurikatariina does this in a few hours or days. But if we take a few weeks, that's totally fine. There's no hurry. We've got plenty of time ❤️
This girl is so sweet. She doesn’t care about the money involved in the job, because she would get it from her UA-cam channel. I hope years down the line, she will encourage SO many more people to do this as well. She has inspired me to do it to,so thank you so much.

I love how positive and understanding she is about cleaning this house like if I were her I would look at it and say "I'm really sorry but this is just way to much for me" but she is like "I can't wait to clean her bedroom!" It is just so amazing how she is reacting to this house!
The amount of physical labour you do for other people for free is just mind blowing, you are truly so kind. I noticed you don't have an online tip jar or patreon or anything, if you set one up us followers could donate to help you will supplies and travel to keep helping people in need 💞
I doubt she will see this, but on the off chance she does. I want to say she should learn about ergonomics for repetitive labor. Bending over like she does is fine every now and then, but for extended periods, she should figure out how to keep most of the weight closer to the center of balance/ core. (including weight from the head, shoulders and upper back) So, she should get a short stool and sit and lean rather than bending over so much. Also knowing how to do stretches to counter the effects helps too.
@@cherri_tsuuuu Still, she exposes herself to germs and the labour itself is also taking a toll on her health. Cleaning makes you bend and get up a lot and that strains the joints. I think its only fair to let followers who appreciate her work tip her
@@thisaint_it her vids have millions of views. The money she makes through these is pretty surely more than we two will ever earn through our 9-5-jobs...
I've been a cleaner for a couple years and I can't imagine working with these kinds of messes. Please protect your back. I'm 59 and my back started to give out after just a couple years doing cleaning. I wear a belt around my hips to help my SI joint when bending and stooping. What you are doing is so commendable but please protect your precious body. Thank you for helping this woman. No one should feel ashamed of mental illness and depression.
In my experience, back pain is usually caused by bending your spine too much, but if you can get flexible enough behind the legs to only hinge at the hips you should be alright. You can also squat down, with the right exercise you can strengthen your thigh muscles and ligaments to avoid knee problems as well.
I love how Auri never says "this filth is disgusting, I have to vomit each time!", but "this filth is amazing! It makes me want to clean happily!". It gives you inspo to clean anything.

My partner let their apartment go due to depression and for the first time invited me over to help him clean it. It was the first time I’d seen the house and he was so ashamed and I felt literally nothing but love for him. The embarrassment can be so real, but talking about needing help is the first step to getting better. So glad your channel is here to show people that these messes can be cleaned and there’s no judgement ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
As a germaphobe and someone who can't stand dirt, I have some mad respect for you. What you do is incredible, and helping someone out with mental health issues this way is excellent. Kudos.
I'm not a germaphobe, but I HATE cleaning other people's stuff--especially if it's dirty to this extent. I simply can't do it. Happy some people do this for others, but I couldn't. (My mom's also a cleaner, so I KNOW how hard, and time-consuming these jobs are)
This is absolutely amazing. I remember when I was a teen I lived with my grandparents and we were always ashamed to have people over because the bathroom was so gross (grandpa was disabled and grandma at this particular time I'm talking about had dementia, and I had a lot of extra curriculars so I wasn't home all that much). One day one of my friends heard me complain about it and offered to come clean the bathroom with me. I tried to say she didn't have to, but she insisted and brought her own cleaning supplies and everything. Her little bit of kindness in cleaning up our bathroom was so wonderful, we sat together in there for hours until it looked cleaner than I'd ever seen it before. All that is to say, I know how it feels to have someone come help with no judgement and you're doing a wonderful thing. Kudos.
What a wonderful friend you had. Sometimes the shame and hopelessness of a situation can paralyze people from ever moving forward, but just having someone nudge you in the right direction can make all the difference.
What a great business model. People get the help they desperately need, you don't have to ever charge them for your services and you get paid from the companies whose products you use, plus the Adsense from UA-cam. Not only all of that, but the people who watch feel inspired to clean their own living spaces or get the courage to ask for similar help. Thank you, Aurikatariina 😊 I'm looking forward to the next part of this apartment cleaning.

Depression is really a disease I can't explain. All my life I was what others call a "clean freak" I could wear anything but white, I would scrub the whole house from top to bottom BUT after I got depressed years ago, I could care less about it anymore, I started being associated with a color black and you should've seen my room, it smelled and filled so much my family would just force the door open because of how it was stuffed. I yelled not to do anything but I knew I needed help. After like months or a whole year with this condition, I stumbled upon your videos and it reminded me how cleaning was so enjoyable and that the results you get from it the most satisfying thing. As somebody that used to clean professionally, mad respect to this woman. I can’t even imagine doing this all by myself. And her genuine positive attitude is really amazing 👏
I don't think I could do it. She seems so calm and cool around all the smells and dirt like it doesn't bother her. I think I would be gagging the entire time. I have a hard time even throwing away food that's gone bad without gagging.
"She got used to it" is exactly why mental illness is so dangerous. I empathize with this woman and hope she is feeling better than she was. You are changing lives by cleaning places like these. Since middle school I struggled with anxiety disorders and depression, and for context I am a college student. I didn't receive help until my senior year of high school when I was diagnosed with OCD. I'm flunking out of college when I had a 4.0 gpa in high school. In my dorm I'm rearranging dishes, trash bags, and dirty clothes so I can make room for other things. I was asked by my therapist how tiring it must have been to live the way I did, but the intrusive thoughts from both my depression and OCD were part of my daily decision-making. I could only say "yeah, but I'm used to it. It's normal for me"
Hope u are doing OK, I have a similar story mental-health wise. I've had diagnosed anxiety since I was around 6 and was later diagnosed with depression and severe OCD. I still struggle but am in therapy. It's so true though that it becomes part of your decision making, other things (such as general life, getting out the house, getting out of bed, etc) just seem impossible. :)
I have ocd as well and I am used to it too.. it is a big struggle for me. I have had anxiety since I was little and it was hard growing up so i hopw you are doing okay.
Lol..nothing is for free. Everyone should also thank the companies who financed all this and also gave cleaning products for the girl at the end, without them it would not have been possible.
I looooove cleaning. My husband always says he wish we could hire a cleaning company but what he does not understand is that cleaning puts me in a physical and mental state of peace and happiness. Bless you for bringing the joy of cleaning to people in need. You're inspiration in so many levels 💕

Being called lazy when fighting the demons inside your head that take up all your energy making you incapable of getting out of bed is the actual worst feeling in the world. Sometimes all it takes is a little compassion to save a life. What you're doing is amazing, keep it up, this makes a big impact on people's lives!
Agree. Especially when one of those demons is solely responsible for constantly reminding you how lazy you are. You don’t need it confirmed by anyone else. 😢
I respectfully disagree, the only person who can get you out of bed is YOURSELF, no matter how depressed you feel you have to get up and get on with it, and eventually the depression will fade.... I'm talking from experience
@@repopackman7560 I'm talking from experience as well, I agree with your point, respectfully, however, your depression will not fade just by forcing yourself to get up every morning. It takes time, acceptance, and, sometimes, professional help.
You know you can both be lazy AND fight demons inside your head. Both can be real at once... It was specified at the end that she got better, and when that happened she just decided to up and leave all the damage she caused that apartment. Obviously the building owner(or whoever it was) wasn't having it lol 3:22. Why didn't she try to at least throw out her trash? That's the least she could've done but she didn't even bother. She left all the responsibility up to some kind youtuber. Some people are too compassionate, but at least Aurikatariina got a cool video out of it ig.
@@anaalina5964 Suck an egg, bro. Depression literally steals your life from you. Scientifically, you NEED some of the chemicals you get when you're happy in order to move your muscles on a daily basis. That's why people experiencing depression consistently feel so tired and weak. They're literally deficient in what they need to physically get up and get going. "At least she could have taken the trash when she got better-" No, she probably couldn't. I wouldn't wanna return to the place where I had some of the worst times in my life at, it would return me right back into a depressive headspace. It could seriously be dangerous to expect someone who went through something like that to go back in there, as progress can be very fragile in the early stages of recovery. If she had felt inclined to help, sure, that would've been nice, but she probably stayed away for her own wellbeing. You don't know where she's genuinely at right now or where she was at when she asked for help, so maybe just keep your thoughts to yourself. She didn't ask to be judged by some rando who doesn't know her story.

As someone who struggles with severe depression and executive dysfunction, this woman’s passion for cleaning motivates me to clean my own place whenever it gets messy. ❤️
Yes! Use that motivation! As someone who struggles with depression I know how hard it can be but try and use up every bit of motivation you have and it’ll make it that much easier!! 💕
@Heloise O'Byrne this comment is the perfect example of someone who has no education on mental illness and has no clue on the topic of major depression disorder. A physical handicap has nothing to do with the condition of the brain, or the hormones (or lack thereof) that are needed to live a normal life which includes having the will to go on. Imagine feeling incapable MENTALLY. Literally. To live, to clean, to work. Every day is a battle.
@Heloise O'Byrne Depression doesn't make you collect your excretions and label it... I think you're mistaking that for something else. Regardless, if your brain is missing hormones like dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine to motivate oneself, be happy, do things, then no amount of berating people for being "lazy" will help. In fact, it is being berated that can lead people to stay depressed. Lazy people don't care whether they are doing things or not. A depressed person can desperately want to do things but they are INCAPABLE of doing it. Being mentally ill is a disability. It is as impairing as with someone with an obvious physical impairment, if not more so depending on the case. Being mean or providing "tough love" doesn't heal depressed people, and it doesn't do them any favors. Empathy is what helps, being able to be kind to those even in their darkest moments. Gently encouraging someone to do even one thing, while still not blaming them if they can't. Each day is a struggle for those with depression.
I love how gentle and kind you are when discussing how mental illness can lead to this. Never accusing or belittling. You also allow the person to remain anonymous.
I love how you don’t say negative things about the apartments and houses but positive things. It’s basically telling me it’s not a bad thing but it’s natural. I love watching these videos because it shows that kindness and compassion can get through to the people who needs it the most. :)

Hearing how you talk about this woman, you're the only person I would have trusted to clean my old house. I was so horribly ashamed and embarrassed that I turned down a friend's offer to hire a cleaner for me because I didn't want anyone seeing it, not even a professional.
Please no. People need to stop saying that youtubers should be given Netflix shows. If they are, their viewership will only go down cause Netflix us not affordable for everyone and Aurikatarina will not have the creative freedom she has in her own channel
That inspires me so much to get to grips with my messy home! Depression makes it harder, but then dirty house contributes to depression as well. I can relate to her shame about having people over thought I'm not at her stage yet....
My favorite part of this is in the beginning when the first images of the home come onto the screen, and she says "This is the dirtiest home in Switzerland and it's...." you think she is going to say something like "disgusting" or "horrible" or "the worst thing I've ever seen in my life." But no... What does she say? She says "It's AMAZING!!" You have a HEART OF GOLD, my dear. Thank you for your genuine kindness and compassion.
My mom got concerned when my place was messy, not like this but she can’t clean since she’s been very physically ill and needed surgery but offered to help get a cleaner for us. I appreciated it so much but it wasn’t needed, I don’t even know how a parent could insult their child like this when it’s clear their mental state is declining.
I love how positive she is through this whole situation. I never heard her say “this is disgusting” at all. Meanwhile, I was gagging watching her pull hair out of the sink. Truly admirable
On the off chance that the woman who owns this home sees my comment- I am so sorry that your mother couldn't find the words to comfort you, but my mama heart absolutely has to. Honey- I am so proud of you. I am so proud of you for continuing to get out of bed each day, even when that task alone was monumental. I'm so proud of you for surviving when you carried around mountains that you were only ever meant to climb. But most of all, I am so very proud of you for getting help. It's so hard to reach out, so hard to admit that you're drowning under the great blue waters of depression. Please don't feel ashamed of your home, and especially not of your mental illness- because those things will never hold more value than your life. You chose to live today, and every day before. Every day you've chosen to overcome this tremendous pain, you've chosen to take care of your body the best you can, to sleep when you felt that you were able. You did everything you needed to survive another day- and that alone is monumental. So much more than any amount of cleaning. I am so, infinitely, unconditionally proud of you. I believe in you and your ability to continue pushing forwards. I see your strength, and though you are tired, you are worthy. Worthy of getting well. Worthy of receiving help. Worthy of love and respect. Sweet girl, you are capable of much more than you know. You are strong. You are beautiful. But most of all?? Against all odds, you're alive. Thank you for making that decision for yourself- continue on ❤ Edit: Thank you to everyone who has liked this and helped me get this to whomever this beautiful human being is. I hope the woman who lived here has the compassion in her life that she deserves and needed for so long. I’m so glad she found a way out and you helped her put this terrible time fully behind her. If she is reading this, thank you for sharing your story - it’s inspirational to me that you could go from this life to a new life and prove that change is always possible.❤️❤️
depression is real and it comes in many forms, this being a major one. to so many people this is just disgusting but it’s a real issue some people have and it’s good that we have people like her on this planet. she’s not judging anyone she cleans for, she’s understanding and well….she really enjoys it.
True. I‘m turning 22 soon and have been depressed since i was 15 and it just gets worse. It comes from my traumatic childhood and teenage years. I never moved on or healed from all the damage. And after all always new blows of fate appeared in my life. Physically I’m 22 but my soul is already 80. And the worst thing is when no one in your environment doesn’t know anything about your long term condition and you feel like you can’t tell anyone or that you’re suicidal. I’ve been neglecting my home and my hygiene for so many years now. I still sometimes end up cleaning but it’s so freaking hard to do so and I feel like dying. But there are people outside who can’t do it unfortunately at all which I totally understand therefore I’m really glad and happy that she helps people around the world to make the first step and to clean for them and to try to bring light in their darkness. She’s such an angel
Your personal hygiene and environment are some of the very first things to go. When I first moved out on my own, I was finally in a position where I was happy enough to have the energy for things, and something as simple as eating good and showering and cleaning your house just has such a drastic effect on your mood. It's why no matter how tired or unmotivated I am, I always make it a point to do those things at least, so I don't fall back into my old patterns. Basically as long as my couch pillows are in order and I'm clean, tackling the real issues becomes easier.
@@haleylampley1056 I agree with you. Our surroundings impact our lifestyle and mindset ALOT. So it's important to always stay clean and tidy. Heck I'm a lazy person myself but if my room's a mess, I can't think straight.
No one new she was suffering this way for 6 years. That's so sad. I'm not blaming anyone for not knowing, some people choose to hide their pain and they hide it well. It's just sad that she felt she had to hide. Finally shes getting the help she needs and fresh start.
But still though, wouldn’t her neighbors notice the horrible smell? I genuinely can’t believe that nobody would notice in 6 years. This is one of the saddest things I’ve seen 😢 I am so grateful I had a loving family while suffering depression whom helped me out.
@@dilekyeter7211 I was in a similar place few years ago, I didn't shower, my room was a mess and it smelled horrible but everyone just concluded I am just a lazy person. Not everyone gets how hard it is sometimes just to get out of bed at times.
@@sadpotat4888 So very true! Many times it is only those of us who have experienced this kind of depression who are able to truly understand what it feels like! Be Well ♥
I love how she tries so carefully when she’s sorting to make sure she doesn’t throw away anything valuable or maybe special to the lady. This and the after result could really show how much she was trying and how much she cares! 😊
The courage this woman had for contacting you is truly admirable. A lot of people don’t realize how hard even ‘simple’ daily task are for person struggling with mental illness. I hope she will never again feel ashamed of inviting friends to her apartment and wish her the best on her path to recovery ❤️🩹
I can't even touch my sink without gagging and having to wash my hands, but here you are, literally cleaning tons and tons of dirt, even sitting on it sometimes, helping this poor woman out. You're such a great person. I really appreciate your work. I hope the woman made a quick recovery after this. ❤
I spent the majority of my life living in places even worse then this, battling severe depression and chronic illness, along with my mother who struggled with the same. If someone like you had existed in our lives, my entire life might have gone differently and maybe my mom wouldn't have died at 52 because she didn't have the resources or hope to go to the doctor for years, letting cancer go undetected. Thank you for being such a kind and compassionate person and spotlighting awareness that this kind of thing is born out of depression and hopelessness and so many people living this way would be able to get help if only they had someone kind and judgement free to offer them a hand up. It can be -absolutely- overwhelming to do this yourself or even ask someone to help, let alone overcome fear and anxiety to let that person in to see the mess. You're doing an incredible thing.
I always had depression in my live and it became severe 9 years ago. My house was becoming like that but i try to put out the a bag of trash every week. I never sleep in my bed but at sofa. Now I am watching Auri I am beginning to clean it. Hope you get the same inspiration.
We need to raise awareness of invisible illness. If this girl had failed to clean her apartment because she had two broken arms, I doubt her mother would have called her lazy. But because you can’t see a broken mind or a broken heart, people think they can judge. Her mother’s lack of compassion is so sad. This girl needs love and tenderness, not blame!
Yes and not even for cleaning things too. My 8yo son gets called lazy because he uses a disability stroller (the “Alvema Pixi”) when we go out and because he “looks normal” people judge and say “isn’t he old enough to walk” “he’s just lazy” “you’re a lazy parent” “why are you still using a pram” etc. Like yes he “looks normal” 🙄🤦♀️ but he is neuro-divergent and has a musculoskeletal issue called EDS which isn’t visible like others (like cerebral palsy, scoliosis, etc)
@@cyb3rpillz13 and there is a difference between laziness and depression. One is just hating doing anything, the other is lacking the energy to even live let alone clean.
"But I loved every minute of it" If we all had that attitude when facing unpleasant tasks, how much better our lives would be. I'm ashamed to admit that I would probably be cursing and making myself feel guilty for allowing it to get that bad. Thank you for your attitude. You're truly a huge blessing.
Your own attitude can make or break any experience for yourself or others. It takes a lot of retraining our brains to change our attitude. We are responsible for our own happiness. No matter what.
Cleaning is a love language in my family. My dad was never in control of a lot of things in his life, but being clean and organized helps him have a sense of control, and my mom and I both have depression, and keeping spaces clean has always been a challenge for us, so helping each other clean is a big thing. That's why I love seeing people help clean - it's someone seeing the dirty, guilt-inducing, overwhelming thing you have to deal with and saying "don't worry, I want to help make this better for you."
What an organic sponsorship...glad Scrub daddy has identified and recognised your hard work and are helping you transform lives. While we all are always talking about the issues with social media, you have single handedly shown how it can be put to good use. Kudos to you and everyone involved
Oh yes, absolutely. I’ve been struggling with depressive episodes for years and my bedroom sometimes goes through periods of time where it can get quite disgusting due to the fact that I don’t have the energy to clean or do anything. It’s like… Imagine having stamina, like in a video game, but you wake up with a very small amount in your cache every day and when you use it, you can’t get it back until you get proper rest- which is hard to come by when you’re depressed. It takes a toll and it’s very hard to fight when you don’t have the energy to push back in the first place. People like the apartment owner in the video and myself are fighting an uphill battle, and it’s hard no matter how far along you are on your journey. I’m glad this video is helping teach so many people about situations like these- people like us just need some compassion and a helping hand every now and then.
It happens easier than you can imagine. A few things go wrong and you feel worthless, and that life means nothing to you anymore, you forget what it's like to be happy. It's not that you want to die, it's often that you don't know how to live anymore...
Because people often see the last results, when the apartment is dirty. But it go little by little, and very quickly, you dont know how to begin, you feel powerless and it go back to the beginning. I paid a maid, thats clean my home in four hours. Whereas i was so used of it, i didnt know how to begin, what to do, I would have spend maybe a week to make it. You let one thing on the floor, that you swear you will take later, then tomorrow, then next week. And since you will clean later, you can let this other paper, this other piece of trash, and again, but its okay you will clean later. Same for dishes that stack on your sink. You will wash it next day, so why worried now. Then one day, you realized the works you need to do, and you’re overwhelmed, you have anxiety because of it, every single task become incredibly tiring, and its difficult to feel good and reposed in dirty home, but you try, and while you managed to clean some parts, dirt and dishes continue to stack. At some point, the dirtiness increase your depression, that decreases your motivation and discipline, and increases the dirtiness. At this point, you need help, quickly. When i need to call a maid, i didn’t clean for only one month. (I clean a little, but just the minimum to leave). And already, i felt powerless and overwhelmed. In 4 intensive hours with a professional, it was clean. Without him, i would have need a week to achieved the same. Fortunately, I had money to spend for a maid, but its not always the case.
I just had the heartbreaking sense that this girl felt like she is dirt, and she felt so deeply worthless that her house reflected it. To live with secrets and shame is so isolating... Poor girl. I went through a period of depression and isolation as well, it was hard to get out of bed to begin with. No, it is not laziness. It is a visceral mental health battle, and anyone needs their tribe during trials to help lift them up a little. I hope that a clean home can be a fresh start, hope and perspective. To anyone who needs to hear it: you are valuable! It's time to live with love and give yourself grace for the ups and downs on the journey. Sweet of you to help her out with this :) thanks for the vid
I'm so happy to see this lady is actually happy to help clean up this. As someone who suffers from depression, PTSD, tourettes and a lot of other things it's sometimes impossible for me to bring myself to so mundane tasks like clean my room, feed myself, bathe myself, etc... It's disheartening to hear how parents and family members may react to their children needing help and this is why a lot of people don't reach out for help. And we get worse without the help. Thank you, truly, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for not calling this disgusting but rather, 'amazing' it helps us realize that people are really wanting to help us sometimes. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you...

As someone who goes through depressive episodes, I can testify that the trash just...starts to pile up. Especially if you're stress eating or too exhausted to take out the trash. My message to the non-depressed population: you know that friend that "disappears"? The one who always looks tired and has a million excuses not to show up to a social gathering? Reach out to them. Keep reaching out even when they self-isolate. Respect boundaries, but encourage positive socialization. These people might be going through a war in their head- please understand that this can be a chronic, severe condition especially when left untreated.
My message to the depressed population! I too fell tired after a full day of work but always decide to keep my place clean!!! Even tho a person might be an introvert, there is lo excuse to let yourself go like this. Live is hard for everyone
@@Ricky_85000 you missed the point, being an introvert is different from having mental conditions straining you from doing or worrying about taking care of yourself let alone your living area. Please do try to be more educated on mental health problems since it’s a very big thing today and it’s not just being lazy or using excuses.
@Alastor_6 You clearly have no idea how bad depression can get. When someone stops eating or drinking, starts having psychotic depression due to the severity of their illness, hearing voices or becoming catatonic, cleaning is impossible. Life is not equally hard for everyone. Equating severe depression to tiredness after work is so ridiculous, count yourself lucky you've never experienced it. Smh
My partner and I are psychiatric nurses and I'm in awe with your compassion and empathy. You treat each individual with complete respect and the act of cleaning is a huge gift to them. You make these individuals feel seen and worthy. Thank you for all that you do!
@@ioanabondoc3844 Yes, they are depressed. It's not like they enjoy living in these conditions, it's more like when you're depressed you have zero motivation to do anything, even get out of bed... so it starts with a bit of garbage. And then more. And then more. Until there's so much that there is no way you could clean it all on your own, and that makes you more depressed, and the cycle goes on. I'm speaking from experience here. I had to call a professional cleaner to clean my house (it was not THIS bad, but it was too much for me to clean by myself) and after it was done, I almost cried. And now I'm able to organise my house myself, because it's only a little bit. Unfortunately those cleaners were not as nice as Auri and they shamed me about the house being dirty :(
I watch your videos when I need to clean or do laundry. It helps me focus and realize that I can do it and I'm not alone. Even if it isn't that bad, it can still get overwhelming and feel like it's one of these houses, so seeing it's not really helps me want to fix my mess (no hate to anyone who's house is in one of her videos just telling my thoughts and feelings)

I don't think there is such a thing as laziness.. it's all mental illness on a spectrum.
The filth caused more depression

I'm 59 and my back started to give out after just a couple years doing cleaning. I wear a belt around my hips to help my SI joint when bending and stooping. What you are doing is so commendable but please protect your precious body. Thank you for helping this woman. No one should feel ashamed of mental illness and depression.
What type of belt
Right. Ain’t no way I’m bending down 5000 times on this job. Idk how much they paying me.
In my experience, back pain is usually caused by bending your spine too much, but if you can get flexible enough behind the legs to only hinge at the hips you should be alright. You can also squat down, with the right exercise you can strengthen your thigh muscles and ligaments to avoid knee problems as well.

Kudos.

Hey, i Hope your doing better now. You are right, depression is a disease that sadly isn’t really recognized. I wish you only the best and that you won’t fall back🤍
I suffer from depression and anxiety and sometimes having the energy to shower and cook and clean can be overwhelming. Thank you for being such a kind soul and not judging someone.
I wish a speedy recovery for you, and a happy life.
By the way, how are you today?

It's normal for me"
You deserve a great big hug:’(
Hope u are doing OK, I have a similar story mental-health wise. I've had diagnosed anxiety since I was around 6 and was later diagnosed with depression and severe OCD. I still struggle but am in therapy. It's so true though that it becomes part of your decision making, other things (such as general life, getting out the house, getting out of bed, etc) just seem impossible. :)

@@anaalina5964
Suck an egg, bro. Depression literally steals your life from you. Scientifically, you NEED some of the chemicals you get when you're happy in order to move your muscles on a daily basis. That's why people experiencing depression consistently feel so tired and weak. They're literally deficient in what they need to physically get up and get going.
"At least she could have taken the trash when she got better-"
No, she probably couldn't.

Every day is a battle.
the ignorance and lack of empathy is astounding.
Each day is a struggle for those with depression.
i'm just curious are you self diagnosed? sorry if it sounds rude i don't mean to come off that way

No one new she was suffering this way for 6 years. That's so sad. I'm not blaming anyone for not knowing, some people choose to hide their pain and they hide it well. It's just sad that she felt she had to hide. Finally shes getting the help she needs and fresh start.
Even her mother calles her lazy, so maybe she knew why to hide it.. this is so sad!
But still though, wouldn’t her neighbors notice the horrible smell? I genuinely can’t believe that nobody would notice in 6 years. This is one of the saddest things I’ve seen 😢 I am so grateful I had a loving family while suffering depression whom helped me out.

The courage this woman had for contacting you is truly admirable. A lot of people don’t realize how hard even ‘simple’ daily task are for person struggling with mental illness. I hope she will never again feel ashamed of inviting friends to her apartment and wish her the best on her path to recovery ❤️🩹

I have never seen anything like this in my life. It's a cesspool. Scrub Daddy did a good job supporting this clean. You deserve a medal.
Shout it out for the people at the back
Yes and not even for cleaning things too. My 8yo son gets called lazy because he uses a disability stroller (the “Alvema Pixi”) when we go out and because he “looks normal” people judge and say “isn’t he old enough to walk” “he’s just lazy” “you’re a lazy parent” “why are you still using a pram” etc.
Like yes he “looks normal” 🙄🤦♀️ but he is neuro-divergent and has a musculoskeletal issue called EDS which isn’t visible like others (like cerebral palsy, scoliosis, etc)
lol theres a diffrence between broken arms and laziness
@@cyb3rpillz13 lol the lack of empathy you're showing.

Oh really help your fkn self you said.
Your such a kind hearted person Auri hearts like yours are really hard to find
I had no idea depression could do this to someone's home. You never know what someone's is going through. This channel is educational.
There's a TV series all about hoarding. It's interesting, but very sad.
Sweet of you to help her out with this :) thanks for the vid
,спасибо за ваш комментарий.
its crazy the things we do to ourselves when our sense of self-worth is destroyed.

Hello how are you doing hope you're safe??
My message to the depressed population! I too fell tired after a full day of work but always decide to keep my place clean!!! Even tho a person might be an introvert, there is lo excuse to let yourself go like this. Live is hard for everyone
@@Ricky_85000 you missed the point, being an introvert is different from having mental conditions straining you from doing or worrying about taking care of yourself let alone your living area. Please do try to be more educated on mental health problems since it’s a very big thing today and it’s not just being lazy or using excuses.
@@pollackmorgan3149 hi, just saw this! I'm doing fine for now but thank you for asking :)
But still... how could anyone live in these conditions? How is it possible? They are that depressed? I need an explanation...
